Would you suggest a similar path as far as the order of subjects that you learned for someone coming in to the industry? What would you have perhaps done differently or what subject would you have embraced before others? I feel like sysadmin is an awesome place to start to get the professional foundation and familiarity with the Linux and AD environments. But you could also lab them. Thoughts?

Thank you for this brief podcast. However, I would like to know if it is worth leaving software development to become an ethical hacker/pentester. However, I have been into software development for over 6 years now using .Net technology( C#, MVC, .Net Core API), angular, and using SQL server as my backend database but I love doing backend development and get tied of frontend which I tend not to love doing. Recently I start my MSc. in Cyber Security to change my career but I tend to wonder if I could get a job with it as someone that is just entering into the field with little or no experience. Your advice will be greatly appreciated. what to do in order to be good cyber security personnel, what is the learning curve to follow, and what to do in order to get employed after graduation? Thanks

Thank you for sharing your experience. I remember the first work laptop a client offered to pay for when mine died and I didn't have any other device to work on. It had an Ubuntu OS. I was 20 then, and only needed to use a word processor so I didn't bother getting to know the OS. Looking back now, I wish I invested the time to. It's been 10 years since then and I finally decided to get into IT. It took me this long to tell myself it didn't matter what gender I have. But back then, as fascinated as I was by computers, I thought it seemed strange for a girl to be working in those (usually) dusty server closets, typing lines and lines of cryptic-looking text, inspecting hardware, and troubleshooting. Now I'm a little bit wiser and braver. The gender thing should have never mattered, I should've been willing to follow my interest in computers. A lot of shoulds. But that's okay, I think I still have time. And the more I've learned, the more I realize just how vast and interesting this field really is. Your channel is amazing at helping people like me (as in people who are interested in getting into cybersecurity) feel more comfortable with the transition because of how well you explain complex topics. Thank you.
