on the aspect of learning to code: kotlin is a great alternative to python that eliminates many beginner pitfalls through static typing and null safety. there even are quite a number of universities that switch from python to kotlin for their introductory courses, just because it is harder to shoot yourself in the foot while learning the ropes and exploring what is possible :) one other thing that you should keep in mind is how good the open source library ecosystem for that language is and how easy it is to import and use different libraries. python and kotlin both have an excellent community, so if you can think of it, there is probably an open source library for it, so you dont need to re-invent the wheel. but when it comes to dependency management, python is a bit stuck in the past and the venv/conda stuff can be quite overwhelming for beginners.
Hey Heath Adams! Big fan of your Practical Ethical Hacking course. Just wanted to mention that it doesn't cover the "Covering Tracks" phase, which is crucial in the hacking methodology. Adding this phase would be awesome. Thanks!
Thank you so much for such great content Heath. I am 45% done with my PEH, You are my favourite professor of all time no cap. Cannot wait to get PJPT ->>> PNPT certified !!!
Thank you so much! Heath. You provide great content. I really value your honesty as you recommend many resources even from competitors. I will study with you and get your certificates. My best wishes.
Man thank you! Doing a course for live with Blackhills now and a course on Udemy. I can’t wait to do some courses with y’all! Heard a bunch of good things from people in the field.
@The Cyber Mentor This is a good resource and put out very timely for me. As I was discussing about pen testings with one of the software devs at work today. And he wanted to know the best way to learn. So this video is getting sent to him. Also another thing under the advancend section, when you mentioned about OWASP. It might have been good to add in about OWASP jucieshop with that. As that is a good resource to demostrate about the OWASP top 10. None the less good video 👍
I have an associates degree in networking and cybersecurity. I also have the COMPTIA A+ certification. Would it be worth it to get the Network+ and Security+ before going after the PNPT, or should I just shoot straight for the PNPT?
Everyone learns differently. A lot of what you learned from the A+ will be helpful for the PNPT, but having more foundational knowledge from the Net+ and Sec+ could also be helpful. However, with associates in networking and cybersecurity, you may already possess the knowledge required. Everything you need to learn to pass the PNPT is included in the training, having some of the core foundational knowledge prior to that will help put things into perspective and make a little more sense though. You can always enroll in the PNPT and begin your journey, if you feel that you aren't ready to get started you can always come back, you have lifetime access to the course materials and the vouchers are also lifetime as well. There is no rush! I hope this helps you! Good luck to you!
Thanks ,this video helped me a lot ,I had honestly thought I just need to listen to an ethical hacking course and I'm all set,but as I kept learning I realized that I lack a lot of basic knowledge needed throughout the course. At least now I have a path to follow ,which I found in time cause I was starting to lose hope .
Hi cyber mentor. You are great. I have a big question. I want to be like you, an ethical hacker. But I am confused of whether should I go to uni to get at least CS degree or should I just learn all the stuff myself? I want to add that I am a newcomer in IT world. Please, please, if you can reply.
I'm studying VERY hard in order to pursue a role of a sysadmin. That's my dream job. I would really appreciate if there is someone who is in this field or who knows enough about it that can tell me am I wasting my time doing this due to the rise of AI. Thanks!
Invest in yourself to better yourself. We don't know what AI is going to become but that doesn't mean you should give up on yourself. If for some reason AI does replace that position, you will just pivot to something else. Devour all of thr knowledge you can and you will always have a place in the industry. Best wishes
And how to lend first job ? I know Linux, Python, Networking, SQL, i know how to use hacking tools like Metasploit, nmap, i know how they works. Still i don't see any opportunity to be hired

I‘d really love an image/infographic that shows this roadmap, so I can easily share it with my audience and students? Do you happen to have one ready? Or would you mind if I did one (and linked to your video/credited you?)
Neso academy’s computer network course is absolutely fantastic and very comprehensive for those who want to explore a different approach. Their explanations are very detailed Ben Eater’s networking course is also worth exploring.
It's depressing trying to be an ethical hacker when all the interesting jobs are hella gatekept in this industry. Way easier to just go to the darkside

Because mehn $30 is more than my monthly wage in this part of the world 😅. I really appreciate your Good work.

Hi, I have a question. first of all.. please accept my sincere gratitude for creating a free course for ethical hacking. I am a novice with no background in programming, however dur to my current role in information security i feel that this knowledge would be awesome. however, I do not have a windows machine and the course is for windows, do you have any courses that are desgined keeping macs in mind? thanks so much. apologies if my question is amateurish.
Say you want to go the cybersecurity route but live in a place that just doesn't care about it as much and rather take on risks, what kind of jobs can I search for until i build myself up enough to market myself? I have Network+, I have fixed computers, I know how to code, and I am half way there at Security+ and I have a master's degree in information assurance, but IT jobs want so many requirements and certs and I can't land one job, and mall or store jobs just see me as way overqualified and an employee that isn't going to stick around...? I need to eat too ...
It is greatly appreciated! It is what I needed to be able to start, since in a self-taught way it becomes difficult, I make a query, I have the Cisco cybersecurity course, which is quite complete, you say it is advisable to do it? And to do it where you would hook it, after Comptia Cybersecurity? or with this path is enough, since at the moment I could not pay the certifications which would be great to have it in the future, and Cisco gives you a mini certificate
Learn all this and in 10-15 years you can call yourself an ethical hacker. I'm kidding, of course, in my opinion it is necessary that you have been active in IT for at least 5 years, i.e. active work, whether as a network engineer, help desk support or similar, and of course that you have knowledge of hardware and software and only then you can think about starting to learn ethical hacking because it is a set of various skills and it takes a lot of time to learn. I don't want to dissuade anyone from learning, but I just want you to know all this before the beginning of learning so that you don't get disappointed at the start, because learning ethical hacking and cyber security is a long-term process where you learn a lot of different things and skills, and that's why most people give up because it is too much for them. You can start learning even without experience of working in IT, I mean learning about networks, hardware, software, programming, etc. But it will make a huge mess in your brain because it is too much to learn and too much information. That's why I recommend that you learn one area, for example, the networking, start working and only think about learning ethical hacking in a couple of years.
Please I need an answer, I have a question. I live in a third world country, raising money is kinda difficult especially in dollars, how can I get a job after I finish studying an a+, also how can I certify myself pending the time I have enough money.

Thanks for the amazing content Heath. Also, how do you weigh CCNA against CompTIA Net+? I am not looking to get the certificate anytime soon. I just want to study the content. Which one is more in-depth? I found the tutorial series from Jeremy's IT lab to be a lot helpful. I've also seen a lot of people saying CCNA is a waste of time.
