- Team time trials are the fastest and in a way the most technical stages of Grand Tours. We caught up with Team Sky before the Vuelta to see how they prepare for these critical stages.

With riders like Chris Froome and Peter Kennaugh, Team Sky combine science with the art of the team time trial to go as fast as possible. While they aren't always decisive events in Grand Tours, it's very easy for riders to lose time in team time trials, hence their importance and the effort that teams like Sky put in to their preparation for these races.

Thanks for the video, would love to see more team time trials in the calendar! TBH would like to see more team orientated prizes/awards at events in general, with the greater emphasis on an effective team (a la TeamSky) to deliver success specially at multi-stage events.

They are faster above 23mph compared to a standard rim.
Disc wheel = less drag
More aero and more weight. Horrible for cycling..good for money.
I think they already did, as others said it's to reduce drag from wind hitting the otherwise-exposed rims. However their use will be dependent on wind conditions on race day, a strong cross-wind will see riders swap back to deep rims, or even standard wheels if necessary

Can you get a shot of Froomes TT bike shifting? I don't see how it shifts smoothly when the front mech can't be a consistent distance from the chainring.

When would you use a tri spoke as opposed to a super deep wheel such as a C75? #torqueback
who use speedplay pedals? most of the sky rider use shimano right? or they can use whatever they like?
Think Froome and Thomas use Speedplay.
I think Speedplay offers a wide range of options of width between two feet. It's important because some people simply cannot get the width right with Shimano pedals.

BMC is better on the TT but Sky is better up a mountain. Conveniently the Vuelta is full of mountains.
+Windoges: All three grand tours (Giro, Tour de France, and Vuelta) contain a lot of climbing--mountains.

probably LHD cars as most if not all training done on the continent and almost all of the top races, so Spanish or French reg I suspect
Well, I sustained 362W up a 23% incline today for a whole 4 minutes, then I exploded...take that Sky.

Nice thats very good! I did my first triathlon this summer and landed on a 150th place of all the 550 that finished. I was very happy with it

This is what's wrong with racing right here. At least the triathlon in the Olympics isn't team or followed by 100 team assistants. Still the Olympics represent horrid blood money.
Pretty much bored with that Sky team, killing off every stage in the Tour de France, bit like all the money in football, you know before hand whos going to win. Time for much smaller teams and no communications, look at the olympics, old style racing, much more exciting.
