    If Rendon didnt have baseball, he would be a General Manager at a Target in San Antonio, Texas.
    The arrogance you need to possess to say something like that publicly when you know there are so many minor leaguers sleeping on air mattresses who would die to be in Rendons position.

      @@davidvelazquez6661 I was about to say the same thing. When I was a teenager I worked at Target. Even the managers there had to work their butts off for years just to become an assistant manager. Then they had to take a low salary and work tons of hours to get a shot at being manager. Then they had to be really motivated and work really hard for many years to become a general manager and most who try don't make it because each location only has 1 GM with a ton of managers trying to get that job. I know it was a joke but there is zero doubt in my mind that Rendon would never become a GM of a Target unless he had some kind of inside connection to put him there. Even then he would still probably top out as one of the worst regular managers or even assistant managers. Without baseball Rendon *wouldn't* even be a GM at Target.

    How Ron Washington and Rendon work together next season is one of the most interesting storylines in all of baseball right now. Those two guys couldn't be more polar opposites. Wash expects his players, especially position players and especially infielders to play every single day through pain and perform.

    • @yaniyuhara8165
      @yaniyuhara8165 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@yaniyuhara8165 Problem is they can't because he's on a major league deal. Rendon would likely refuse to report. It's gonna be real interesting though. If you look up the major league leaders in games played over the past few years the top several are all Braves infielders because Wash demanded they play everyday as long as they weren't so injured that playing would hurt them more. He doesn't take excuses and especially not from infielders and especially not 3rd baseman because he was also the 3rd base coach. And especially not when the 3rd baseman is the highest paid infielder on the team. Rendon is either going to play or they are really going to clash.

    Rendon's attitude is disgusting--more disgusting than even these former players say. If he doesn't care about the game and doesn't want to give his all when he's playing, he should retire and renounce the rest of the contract money he's owed. These former players didn't even speak to love of the game and passion for the game as key elements in the mindset of a great player. Sure, some guys in MLB have probably lost most of the love they once had for the game, and some are doing it as a grind. But Rendon is far beyond that attitude. He doesn't have passion for the game he's paid handsomely to do, and he gives grief to media people for asking him about it--another aspect of the game that he's responsible for but can't even do with a shred of respect. How can anyone root for a player on the field who has announced his displeasure with being there?

  • @thewicked8642
    @thewicked8642 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    Not every player needs to live and breath baseball. Some love it, some are just good at it and that's understandable. That is similar at pretty much all jobs. However, most people still go to work and make an effort, even if they don't love it. This isn't about putting family first, most do this as well. This is about not wanting to put in any effort and covering it up by saying family is priority. Rendon's comments coupled with his amount of time on the injured list, seems to show that he isn't putting in any effort. People like this in regular jobs are usually fired or laid off.

    I bet Ohtani hated playing with that clown. Rendon is spouting off about faith and religion but he sure seems fine with defrauding the Angels out of millions of dollars for services not rendered. Real classy stuff. Dude is pathetic.

    I wish Ron Washington the best this season. Hopefully he can get through to him.
    I remember hearing stories of Bobby Cox getting players like Marcus Giles to give JD drew shit everytime he took himself out of the lineup. That may sound harsh, but Drew did end up having one of his best seasons that year he was with the braves

    I would guess a lot of pro athletes think like Rendon, they just don't say it out loud. I don't have a problem with what he said, but I do wonder if he doesn't give it his all when he's coming back from injury?

    I find it interesting how people are mad at Rendon and not the Angels organization for making their players feel this way. There’s a reason why Ohtani left. Pretty sure Trout feels the same, but he doesn’t have the balls the say it.

    In one sense, I cringe when especially like NFL analysts/former players are like "Football is his life his everything", as if that's a positive thing for the top NFL guys. So Rendon's comments putting Faith and Family first are good, refreshing. But why does Rendon sound like such a jerk overall? Maybe he needs to work on his Faith a bit because his attitude stinks and is not reflective of a strong Faith in my opinion. While a job shouldn't be the top priority, it is a priority in life for everyone...you could say 1)Faith 2)Family 3)Friends 4)Health 5)Job? and when you make the money he is making you're going to be expected to be a little more respectful about how you talk about that job. I really think Rendon has some personal or mental issues honestly, it almost seems he's defensive/angry, etc. Not sure what's going on in his life, but if you are the Angels I'd have a short leash with him, and then cut him at some point if this stuff continues. They'll still have to pay him but not worth it if his attitude keeps up. I'd say the only hope is that Ron Washington who seems to be a very good Guy and Manager can help change Rendon's attitude/perspective.

    Freddie Freeman’s son is sick so he went home for a few days to be with him because family comes first. Short of an emergency Freddie will try to kick your butt because he is also committed to being the best player he can be because he agreed to do just that and because he’s rich he can spend all winter hanging out with his family. If Rendon was playing well these comments wouldn’t be a big deal. It’s an odd comment for someone to say who had played so bad and has been such a bad contract.

    He should retire. The whining he’s doing is just an excuse for his bad play. He played well for 2 years in order to get a big contract and now he no longer has a desire to play. Give your “job” up for someone who cares about the game. Retire so the angels can bring in someone who cares about the game. It’s a privilege.

  • @lasticonoclast
    @lasticonoclast 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Why doesn’t he just retire? That is the $245M question. He is living the life of privilege, and equates it to some 9-5 job paying minimum wage. I’m not an Angels fan, but Rendon is doing his teammates and their fan base a great disservice. It’s no wonder Shohei fled. While we’re at it, Art Moreno needs to sell the team. The Angels historically have a really poor record of signing free agents that drag the team down. They need a new management team.

    You guys have it all wrong. Anthony Rendon is just taking advantage of the 'Work From Home" program that Justin Upton founded during his time w/the Angels. Justin Upton is the former CEO & spokesman of the program. Upton tried to recruit Albert Pujols during his time w/ the Angels, but he declined & opted to hit inning ending double plays for millions of dollars.
