If you put it in the freezer, the hydrosol will freeze and the oil will sit on top.

If you want to steam distill, you will put your oranges in the thump keg part and then your condenser. You don't have to worry about scorching the orange peels.

Use lots of ice (blocks is great) in your water that cools the coil. It increases the yield of hydrosol and oils.

Would you happen to know the diameter of the tubing (for the cooling system and for the final product)? The kit I ordered doesn't seem to include it and I'd like to have all the bits ready if possible. Thanks!

Just a home cook here, but I would think you could just use in cooking. Of course depends on what your distilling, for example oregano - add to pasta water, or pan frying veggies to flavor

Hi, I can’t really make the hydrosol. They came water but different smells, tried dry roses, frangipani, and hibiscus all dry (separately) the water I collected it doesn’t have a nice smell, can be the Temperature?
I wait 30minutes and still not hydrosol coming out.
Do you keep the same T* all the process?
How much water radio per dry flowers?
Please hope you have time to help me out 🌹🫶🏽

    • @The10AcreWoods

I take temp up to 200(maintain) and then the hydrosol comes out, about 8 litres of water to a full pot(I put grid in bottom to keep from burning on bottom)

Amazing, The hydrosol is the best. Will be so worth it. Also Oregano is top of my list. Going to be doing Echinacea as well and donate to the cat shelters, works amazing on upper respiratory. Will also be adding to waterers(especially the chickens) for the animals to boost immune and preventative.

Thank you both for doing this video as it was much needed. Like you, I can not make Alcohol beverages at home in South Carolina.
I purchased the same size and style you have from Amazon for the purpose of producing Hydrolates and Distilled Water. However, the enclosed booklet did not provide info on how to set up distiller for either er r one of these functions.
The only question I have now that was not covered in your video is; do you plug the extra hole where the Thumper Keg would go. If so, with what?
Again, thanks for making this informative video.❤

I wasn’t expecting such a quick response, and I went with a vinegar wash. I’ve cleaned it with warm soapy water, I’m now soaking the copper pipes in the stainless steel pot in a 50/50 vinegar water solution, I’ll do this for 2-4hrs, ill then connect everything (I have no thumper) and I’ll end with a dry (no water in condenser) steam with the same solution the pipes soaked in.
It may be over kill for essential oil distillation, but I’ve already used the vinegar so I feel I have to finish the process.
Thanks for your reply, I’m guessing you’ve had no issues just washing it, I think it’s only important to do a vinegar wash if the pipes are welded as the flux can be dangerous, however the vevor has compression piping.
Take care , love the videos 👍
