My problem with the Bb chord is twofold -- barring with my pinky is something I simply cannot do (maybe that's easier on an electric guitar?), and I can't seem to stop myself from strumming the high-E string. How the hell do you strum only the middle four strings like that?
Some Options: - Keep at it, eventually you will learn to lift the part of your little finger that contacts the E string. Maybe use your little finger for an A chord barring at the second fret, then slide it up for the Bb. - Don’t strum that E string. - Learn to bar Bb at that position with your ring finger. You don’t have to do it John’s way. I’ve been playing for many decades, and I’ve always used my ring finger. - Play the Bb chord at position 6 using an F style barre. Ok?
