Dr. James, thanks for the best Hoist V4 Elite review video available. I wasn't sure I was going to buy one until I saw this. Also, thanks for the great workout demo. Hope I end up looking half as good as you!
Hello Dr. James, I just ordered my V4 Elite as well. Your video was the main selling point. Maybe Hoist can send you a commission check...lol Thanks so much for taking the time to make and upload this video. Allen
I love the sested leg curl. Something so simple that every home gym should have but yet none of them do. Could you do a seated cable shoulder press with this machine?
Hello Doctor James. I have choice to buy between AXT 4 with leg press and V4 Elite with leg press, both unassembled so I cant try, but both in mint condition. Of the two units which articulating press arms do you like better? AXT 4 looks like it would force you to pull in more on flys than the V4 Elite. Also on leg extension and leg curl. which do you prefer. I notice the the AXT 4 has an extra pad supporting leg extension, wondering if this helps when doing heavier weight. or if it is possible to also do standing leg curl on AXT 4. Unfortunately there is not lot of info on the net for AXT 4. You are the got to as you have the best and only demo I have been able to find. I Thanks in advance for any insights.
Hands down the Hoist V4 elite. It’s a Superior gym even though they are very similar. I liked the feel of the Hoist better. I don’t think you can go wrong with either gym.
Hi. Great review. I wanted to add this to compliment my squat rack with bench. My concern is the 200 lb weight limit. How would you compare the 200 lb on the hoist v4 to regular free weights? I have read somewhere that 100 lb on v4 is comparable to 150 on the bench press? Would you agree? I am hoping the 200 lb limit is comparable to 300 lb. I am having difficulty finding ratios online. Thank you, Joseph.
To me, the ratios does not matter. What is important is the resistance. Each workout you should attempt to increase your resistance. This forces the body to respond. The result is improved strength, endurance and muscle size. The measure of the resistance is not as important as the continued effort to improve.
@@drgenejames thank you for the response.. I am still doing my research. But will most likely be ordering the v4. It should complement my hoist mi7 smith… I saw some of your preaching this morning. I enjoyed the video and subscribing to your channel. Thank you for taking the time making these videos.
MrMayhem311 it is much easier to let someone else move it. If you have the time and want to save money, you can do it yourself. Doing it yourself takes a bit of time and effort

Dr James - I am guessing from your comment that you would take the v5 over the v4 elite hands down. Can you tell me why? I have looked all over the internet and I can't find anywhere what the differences are between the v4 elite and the v5. Great demo on both. I know I want one of these just not sure which one. Does 1 give more workouts or ???? Again why the v5 over the v4 elite? Thanks so much for any and all feedback/advice.
steve m I think that either gym will serve you well. I have done a demo on both. They are very similar. I don’t remember what the major changes are between the two. Check them out and make a decision.

@@Jthall1990 yes! Yes! Yes! Great gym. The seated cable shoulder press is done by tilting the seat back forward
Hello Dr. James, do you think you could please make a full workout routine for this exact machine?
Yes! Custom routine $99

@@iosifkovalenko8364 thanks. Happy 2023
I had this exact same machine. I traded it in for a Powertec Levergym. I don't know what I was thinking.
Bad decision I’m doing the reverse
Hello Dr. James, I see you have done videos on the Hoist V4 Elite and the Vectra 1600 online. Which of the two do you recommend? Thank you, Jim

Excellent! Hoist owes me, lol!
Dr. James, what is your opinion on the Hoist V1 i haven't seen a review in this home gym...? I would like your opinion thanks
It's a good gym. It has the same mainframe as the other gyms. Hoist just stripped away some of the attachments and features to give it a lower price.
"Damn if feels good to be a gangsta" nice!!!!!
A real gangsta ass ninja gets his form right.
How does this compare to the V5? I am looking to purchase one
Both are good gyms. Here’s a demo of the V5

Hi
Thanks for your channel!
I want to change my precor 3.25 to the v 4 elite.is the build , pully, movement and quality of hoist is good as precor ?

Dr Gene James thank you so much!
I am going for it!! I love your channel!
Does the Hoist V5 allow you to use attachment straps on the press arm? Thanks
This is the V4
V5 does not allow for straps
What is your opinion on a Hoist V3? I found a good deal on a used one locally.
It’s a very nice gym. Hoist is a very reliable brand. It’s very sturdy and will last you a long time.
@@drgenejames As an amateur weight lifter, just getting started, is there a concern with out growing the 200lb weight stack?
@@mattsterling6305 no! It should last you a while. I rarely go over 200 pounds with these type of gyms
WOW!
Would you choose the v4 or v5?
Amber Jones V5 hands down
