    It looks to be a viable solution for limited space as opposed to a full leg press machine.
    With that being said, it does look very clunky to install/remove. Does that Quantum product have a leg press attachment?

    • @hybridresistance
      @hybridresistance  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Like someone mentioned, the compact leg sled would have been a good one to compare to, especially with the price. The Quantum does not have leg press attachment. They're just getting started in the US, but I could see that or other attachments down the road. I also wouldn't mind the clunkyness of it as long as it performed well. But again, that's just my personal presence.

    I never tried this attachment. I always thought it looked cumbersome and flimsy, lol. Thanks for taking that hit so we don't have to.

      Thanks man, means a lot from a powertec enthusiast. I feel like you told me that you thought the older models seemed a bit more rubust. I got that shirt at a pacific sunwear over 15 years ago and it’s still going strong.

    Hi hybrid Resistance, yeah that looks like something that's good for someone who's you know kind of a beginning to work out something that they could use as a starter equipment. I think the problem for you like most people who've been working out for a long time they need something commercial grade equipment where they would go to like a place where you know you would see something in a Gold's gym or some professional gym. That's the type of equipment you would want. Something like Hammer strength equipment.

    • @hybridresistance
      @hybridresistance  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thanks Wilfredo. If it feels good, I don’t care at all if it’s all janky or flimsy. One of my favorite sliding benches was ~$100 and wobbled all over the place. With this I wasn’t expecting commercial grade at all, but just didn’t like the feel of the movement. Great comment though

    Mike, I wish I knew you where going to review Powertec’ attachments. I would have told you DON’T BOTHER as their attachments, at best are barely average. The items that are worth getting are the Leg developer and Preacher Curl. The Leg Press attachment is purely a waste of money. I had the 2nd version of that unit and it stunk badly. When the unit was attached to the attachment tube on the bench there was some play with the unit. When you start your leg press movement the front base would rise off the ground. I ended up using 2in x 2in floor brackets to bolt the unit down and thought it would help the intensity of the movement. Well as you could imagine there was no improvement. The arcing movement of the exercise isn’t effective at all. I ended up unbolting the front stabilizer base and removed the attachment from the bench as I later threw out the unit.
    As an FYI STAY AWAY from their Pec Fly attachment and Dip Attachment. I owned those once and they weren’t effective for me.
    The problem with Powertec is their attachments are not really suitable for tall user. I’m 6’2” and have heard the same story from persons over 6’ and up.😊

    • @hybridresistance
      @hybridresistance  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thanks Jose. Really wish I talked with you sooner! Really appreciate that feedback though as it will help others. Like you, I also like the leg developer, but not a huge fan of the preacher either. But I really wasn't much of a preacher fan in my later years.

    • @JoseSuarez-bk3qg
      @JoseSuarez-bk3qg 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey, I agree the preacher curl attachment is only average at best. I ended up switching out their curl arm and started using one of the cable attachment that seems to work better.

      I'm now to powertec as I just picked up the multi press off of FB marketplace. It included the leg extension/curl, even though I already have the ironmasters version and wasn't interested in it.
      My initial impression is that powertec's main pieces are great, but yeah, the attachments don't quite cut it. The ironmasters leg extension is far better built, smoother to operate, and sized more appropriately for medium to tall users.
      I may keep the powertec leg extension, but only to have it permanently attached to the multi press for quick supersets. It won't be a part of my leg day training. Based on these comments, it looks like I'll be avoiding the other attachments, too.

      haha, yes fair enough. I guess I'm mostly talking strictly compared to an attachment lineup versus to a full on leg machine. I of course wouldn't put these in the same league with each other if someone was considering a leg machine. I think I even mentioned that it's good for what it is if you're working with limited space and or want something to mix it up with the powertec system.

    AS an fyi I was watching Coop from Garage Gym Review at the FIBO Fitness Expo in Germany and saw him use a Total Gym! He said he wanted to review one but Total Gym didn’t send him one. The unit he tried out was the Encompass, the commercial gym that was featured at the expo and commented that the movement was “slick”.

      That’s actually a topic I have on the burner, but I’m actually testing another product as we speak. So stay tuned for that. But I do love basic bb squats, my force USA leg press, and either the powertec or Quantum Trainer for a lever squat as well.

      @@hybridresistance Thanks, I still like to do bb squats and trap bar squats as well but looking for something a little less taxing on the body as I get older. I have the powertec multi press machine which I'm trying to figure how I could use it for lever squats.

    As someone who's already pretty invested in the Powertec ecosystem-I have all of their attachments aside this and the lat tower-I was certainly considering this, but also the Titan vertical leg press you've reviewed in the past. I'm curious how you'd compare the two in terms of stimulus, versatility, durability/build quality, etc.

    Instead of getting this attachment, I think the compact leg sled would be more ideal, especially if someone has the space available.

    Powertec seems a lot more "residential" quality rather than remotely commercial quality. Granted not everything needs to be commercial quality.
    Like the Total Gym (definitely residential quality) it has a lot of use and can meet the needs of any normal person when it comes to strength training and such.
    But when it comes to a lot of attatchements (which are a lot pricier than they need to be) they often are subpar in design and execution.
    I really wish a lot of these companies would beef up their products a bit more and make them sturdier. Because a lot of these weight capacities are with static weight, and while I like to careful while training, its also nice to try pushing it hard. But I could see loading this leg press up and going too fast could eventually cause the metal to warp or bend over time. Kinda like how if I push too hard on the Total Gym attatchements they start bending and warping (it's really frustrating especially when I haven't added any extra weight/resistance).
    Powertec has a lot of appeal but the ecosystem seems a bit predatory (granted Total Gym, Bowflex and others can be too).
    I just wish they would price things more in line with their quality. I'm grateful a lot of these budget brands are catching up and offering as much or more for less.
    Thanks for reviewing a lot of these items. It's nice to see someone physically test it out and share honest feedback. It makes planning my future garage/home gym much easier and eliminates risky guess work. I'd probably lean towards a GMWD lever system and stick with a power cage/squat stand and barbell training.

      Thank you for the detailed comment. I think on their end obviously the "attachment market" makes sense for an upsell. But I agree hopefully not at a cost for function / build quality. However to be fair, when you start to build a better part or machine, then you get the "it's too expensive" crowd. Such was the case with the Quantum Trainer. That thing is built like a tank compared to a Powertec, but you'll be paying for it.

    Seems like its value is more around $250. For $400 you are somewhere between 1/3 to 1/2 towards a leg press or belt squat. So better to invest there. Good review.

    For those of us with limited space, what would you recommend: this permanently connected to a powertec multi press or a vertical leg press like the one you previously owned?

    • @hybridresistance
      @hybridresistance  12 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      I am really not a fan of this leg attachment. A vertical leg press is nice, but I find some people don't like them. My go to relatively small footprint leg machines would be first a squatmax md (I got some videos on those as well as a discount code) or one of the more compact leg press/ hack squat combos out there.

    • @balboa0621
      @balboa0621 12 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@hybridresistance I think the hack squat/leg press combos are going to be too large. I think maybe the compact leg sled models (titan, powertec, and force usa all have versions) could possibly work, but there isn't much reliable information out there on those.

    I love mine, However this is more like my 3rd set after doing my dumbbell rows and bar squat. I'll do the motion slow with high rep's (1st set 30+reps) (2nd and 3rd set more weight doing 20 reps or more) and you will feel the burn. But if you're looking to do heavy press not really for it. Definitely slow motion and good form you will get your front quads too burn.
