I would try for hours until I finally come up with a solution. After I’ll analyze more optimal approaches.
@RBT-000 same, I love the mental struggle. Getting a solution without a complete understanding of why it works is a very bad habit.
Bruh also i faced this exact shit like couple of days ago , i was interviewing with linkedin and they asked a question that i had seen but didn't bother to solve or understand and kaboom, rejected lmao 😂
Being someone who has gone through the FAANG interview grind a few months ago, this video is giving me both laughs and PTSD at the same time!

2:03 For anyone interested: The code basically indexes the tree in pre-order as if it was a full tree. It records the index of the left-most node at each depth in the List, and then compute the current width by subtracting the index of left-most node at the same depth from that of the current node’s.

The hash map thing was about to kill my interview. I watched the first part a day prior to the interview and that stuck to my head, and I couldn't find a solution for some time because my mind kept going to the hash map. Then I figured the trick out.

I went to school for aerospace engineering and worked as an AE for about 4-5 years.
I am now a software engineer with crazy strong sense of imposter syndrome lol. During that time as an AE (and now) I have been trying to teach myself data structures and algorithms to stay competitive and this video is exactly relatable lol

@@louisuchihatm2556 the biggest reason is I felt trapped in the aerospace industry. If there were layoffs or anything, I would most likely have to uproot my life and family and move to another state.
Also, I just find tech way more interesting than rockets lol

The part where you stopped to draw some examples to understand the problem instead of just coding it all right away actually came as a relief. Means that its expected to find it hard to undertand.

Same. My question was given the roots of two binary trees find if the smaller tree is within the larger tree… interviewer considered below the smaller tree could be part of the larger tree & still contain the smaller tree…I forgot to.

as someone who is going through placements .... this happens to be painfully true
I actually went to that problem on LeetCode after seeing this video and was unable to solve it. The solution I came up with passed about 70 test cases but then TLE'd. The solution I read was pretty ingenious. I wouldn't have thought of it myself.
