I just did this as well. Video really helped. 2 biggest issues I faced were getting the wheel off (frozen in place) and removing the wheel liner. Never got the liner completely off but got it wedged open enough to replace the pump. Thanks for the video!

Not 100% sure on that one. The automatic part of the system will be controlled by an individual module. In turn, that will require multiple input signals from other sensors such as rain sensor which will be in the windscreen. Otherwise you’d be looking at perhaps using suitable diagnostics to disable it, which may be Mercedes only. You could open a can of worms trying to disable it rather than trying to fix the issue initially. Hope that information helps. Thanks for getting in touch 👍
