Thanks for the video. My CD player broke, so I got the same radio with a aux input and replaced it with your video. Broke the same tab as you, but it all worked. Now I need to get my cds out of the old radio.

Great video. Now can you do the same steps for a radio that comes with Aux input? Cause my old radio did not have one. I have a nissan altima 02 so I bought a radio with AUX input. If i follow this steps will it work fine or theirs added things i have to do?
Yup, broke mine too. Plastic baking in sun for 14 years = SNAP. After I epoxy the little cracked bits I'll be putting it back on... and nice to know that it should slip in easy.
I feel your pain, just passed this beauty down to my 16-yo daughter. 225,000 miles on it and still runs fine.
We just imported the car into Canada, which cost us a pretty penny due to all the things we needed to fix... which were all related to rush on the suspension. Besides that... everything else has been running great. You're daughter should be happy. I think I'm at about 170,000 miles.

any way to do this with an aftermarket stereo that comes with an aux input? i don't ever actually use the radio i just plug my phone in and play music.
Very helpful video. my cd changer has jammed, wont take any cd in. also the display died though the radio works. i am planning to replace the stereo with bluetooth and usb capability. do u have any recommendation about which stereo i shud buy. thanks in advance

So what do you do with the furthest plug to the left with four wires? On the car there are three plugs on the back of the original radio.
+Ian F (xTimelordx) I have heard of the faceplate sticking to the trim if there has been a sticky beverage such as a cola spilled on it. It shouldn't be glued in any permanent manner.

+pat nose Well Pat, my outside door handle just broke. I purchased a replacement from Amazon, as soon as it's warm/dry enough I'll paint it and make a video of replacement. By now, you probably fixed yours, but just wanted to let you know.

Mine was fine but then a Pink Floyd cd went and it didn’t want to give it back. It says error but everything else still works just can’t play cd’s or remove cd’s. I’m hoping I can fix it by unplugging it and plugging it back in again😅

does the oem stereo from ebay work with the bose sound system?
It does, but I purchased the Bose radio from eBay... I think the non Bose should work with a bose sound system since the amps are mounted in the trunk and supply power to the speakers.
I tried to reistall my factory radio with the same one , only to have all the main wires falling apart from the plastic clip , now I have no way of knowing what wire goes to what part of the white plastic clip ! There is no clear wire harness code that I can find on the internet ! I'm not happy !
My car's cd changer doesn't do anything when i press the button, no error code, no noises, no response when i press the cd6, load, or eject buttons

I'm not sure, I've never sat in an '05 Altima. I believe the entire dash was redesigned and doesn't look the same anymore.

It should work, you will need a special mounting plate to fill in the hole if you don't have a radio with the same shape.
Not replacing the radio but my dash is destroyed so and i want a new one before i sell this little car
My bezel looks nothing like that and has no give when pulled on.

Benjamin Hurt I finally figured it out, we were told it was 2002 but with further digging I found the 2001 console matches ours.
How do you know if the radio head doesn't work? It turns on but no sound
The only way I know to test that is to connect another (working) radio into the car and see if it plays. The Bose system in this Altima has an AMP in the trunk, check to see if there's a fuse blown to the AMP because that could prevent there from being any sound.
I also notice that when you plugged in the new stereo head it made a noise of the cd changing. i disconnected mine and plugged in, and it didn't make that noise. where is the fuse located? thanks for replying
I don't believe there is a fuse on the head itself, but have seen that on old cars before. The fuse panel is under the steering column at the location of your left knee when you are in the driver's seat. There is a guide on the back of the panel cover that tells which fuse is which.
checked all the fuses inside and outside of car. they are all good. if there is one bad speaker would it still play music? also checked inside if the stereos wire all all connected. they are good.
If you only had one good speaker, you would still get sound. Unless there is a ground fault somewhere with a naked wire exposed.
Why not buy a aftermarket head unit instead.
Brandon Woodson aesthetically this unit looks better than an aftermarket. This is a Bose system, it sounds great as it is.
Benjamin Hurt I totally agree I own a 2003 altima 3.5 se fully loaded, low miles when I bought it. I have the same bose head unit, unfortunately for me I bought the car with a cd stuck inside the radio. It just make more since for it be replaced with updated head unit with more features.
