Am planning for forest trek but they say its about 12 km walk for 2 days ( with less ascent) but involves 6 to 8 hour walking. What do you suggest as fitness preparation?
Good Going 🙌 To prep for the 12 km forest trek, prioritize cardio (30-60 mins, 3-4 times/week), endurance walks on varied terrain, and strength training for legs and core. Gradually increase pack weight for conditioning. Stay hydrated, maintain a balanced diet, and ensure ample rest. Incorporate flexibility exercises and consider yoga or Pilates. Break in trekking shoes and try shorter practice hikes. Consult a healthcare professional before starting any new regimen. Listen to your body, adjusting intensity to prevent injuries. Build up gradually, allowing muscles to adapt. Proper preparation enhances enjoyment and minimizes physical strain during the trek. Happy Trekking 😇
@@LetsGoKori thank you so much for the detailed reply which is very helpful. Currently I swim 3 days a week for 900 meters, do squats and lunges 3 sets twice a week and one day long walk on concrete road of about 7 kms. Any changes you recommend? Also does hikes like karnala etc help in preparation or should it involve longer hikes ?
@@naturelover7409 Your current routine is solid 💪 To further prep for the forest trek, gradually extend your 7 km walks, introducing varied terrain. Incorporate trail hikes like Karnala for natural, uneven surfaces and specific muscle engagement. Look for trails with elevation gain to simulate trekking conditions. While maintaining squats and lunges, add step-ups and downhill walking to target trek-specific muscles. Consider carrying a backpack during walks to adapt to the load. 🎒 Such adjustments ensure a more comprehensive preparation. Longer hikes like Karnala contribute significantly, allowing your body to acclimate to different terrains and challenges. Keep a gradual progression to prevent overexertion and injury, ensuring a well-rounded preparation for the upcoming forest trek. More Power to you 🙌😇
@@LetsGoKori thank you so much for comprehendive response 🙏😊. Any other hikes apart from karnala you recommend? I am a beginner trekker.
