This hack with glass piece to hold it in place and moving with it freely is soooo great. I wish I saw this earlier, I had so much trouble with moving with little pieces like these. Definitely gonna use it next time. And those pins are so beautiful, you are amazing.
The pins are absolutely adorable. I made something similar in pottery class. I made pins, earrings, ornaments, and magnets. Of course, it was a 2-step process that required a kiln. Air dry clay looks a lot less troublesome.😊❤
I used DAS air dry clay to decorate some pots and glued the clay on the pot with a glue gun then painted all with acrylic paint. They were meant for indoors only but got put outside in Pacific Northwest rainy weather for almost a year and are stil holding up beautifully! So painting your pins with acrylic paint and varnish would hold up fine if using DAS like air dry clay. I also let the clay dry out for about a week before painting.
👍🏼Thank you so much for sharing. I’m wondering: when you first put the formed clay pieces on the acrylic block (or glass piece, I’m not sure of what it is) how do you unstick them without deforming them? They’re not fully dried when you take them off, are they? Since they’re not fully dried, I wouldn’t know how to pick them up without deforming them. I would appreciate it if you could explain that. Thank you very much.
What a lovely !!!! you are so skilled with air clay~ I would love to so it with my kids~ they love those cute kitty and dogs shapes!!! what a cute making video~ !!! Ot was fun to watching it ~ I like cat's face expression a lot !!

Wow you were the one who really inspired me when my dad was having low budget I thought of doin something here I am gonna make a business in clay crafts than you uuu ❤️❤️💐💐
thanks a lot for sharing! this is just what i was looking for , also the designs are super cute!! just a question! is your varnish water-based? i made one clay pin painted with gouache too, but when i applied varnish it moved some parts where i painted... i wonder if i didn't let it dry enough?
Oh, we have the same problem!😂 Because gouache can be reactivated with water, the paint may 'fade' when you brush it. So i just 'tap-tap' my brush on the pins when I apply the varnish, don't rub it too rough
It's better to use acrylic because gouache doesn't keep it's colours very well when exposed to sunlight. If you want the matt finish you could use a matt agent for the acrylics.
DIY Air dry clay recipe: 1/2cup glue 1/2cup cornstarch 1 tablespoon of oil 1/2 tablespoon of lemon juice (substitutes for lemon juice: apple cider vinegar, regular vinegar, citrus) Mix equal parts cornstarch and glue until its thick and runny like icing. Add oil and lemon juice and mix until its basically the same texture as before. Microwave (mine is 1000 watts) for 30 seconds. Mix. Microwave again for 30 seconds. The mixture should have come away from the sides of the bowl and become quite thick. Mix it with a spatula or wooden spoon until it comes together, like dough. Transfer to a non stick surface dusted in cornstarch. (i used parchment paper or cooking paper) Knead it until it is very soft and it can stretch. Store it in an airtight ziploc bag with a small bit of oil coating the sides. Let your creation dry for anywhere from 12 to 36 hours.
These are gorgeous! Do you use a particular hot glue brand for attaching the pins? I often find the hardest part is making the pin connection strong enough
What kind of paint did you use? And does the hot glue stay well enough? Do you think it would be a bad idea to stick the pin part into the clay before it drys?
I use miya himi gouache. I've tried it and it's strong enough, you can also use resin if you want ☺️ Idk I haven't tried it yet, but it's better to do it after the pin dries😉
@@swieart sweet, I’ll look into it. Thank you! ☺️ I’ve also thought about using resin but I’m not sure how I’d pour it in the like trays I make 🤷♀️ I’ll just have to do more research and trial and error

Wow! It's an awesome idea!🤩 Maybe as a suggestion: Could u pls do some air dry clay projects with Christmas 🎄theme? I would love to see those, thank you!🥺💖
I know I’m late, but I have the same pin backings, and when I hot glue them to the back, they slip right off, and take the paint off like skin, and some clay. I also tried super glue. I have ordered bigger backings with a larger surface. Could it be that I didn’t let the clay sit long enough? I let them sit for about 24hr but they were also a bit thin. I also use Crayola air dry clay. Thank you! :)
Hi, may I ask how you take your clay from the glass? The surfaces I used so far has been sticking a lot, I have to wait until they're dry to peel them out. Do they not stick on acrylic glass?
Hi!👋🏻 sometimes they stick on acrylic glass if I spray too much water when smoothing the surface, so make sure you don't put too much water. Or you can use plastic to make it easier to take the clay😊
If you ever make pins don't us air dry clay. It will die if it ever gets wet. Use other clay or material(and another comment answered you what they are so, I am just adding this) air dry clay is only good for training nothing more.
whenever i glue my pins to the clay(airdry) , the glued section just falls off if applied even a little pressure . may i get any tips for this except for securing it with uv resin ?
kakakk, mau tanya jikalau claynya di warnain langsung tanpa di cat waktu kering beda nya ngaruh banget kah, kaya kalau pakai cat bakal jadi lembek dan jikalau pakai chalk jadi keras?

You need to use acylic paint - which is waterproof.

Just 3 cornstarch and white glue and last baby oil more healthy
That's the recipe I use also! It's very good and the vinegar avoids fungi from growing into your clay :)
I'm curious, is it not okay to insert the back part of the pin into the clay directly? So you wouldn't need to use a glue gun for it to stick?

With the varnish can you just use a clear nail varnish?
It makes me want to make it, too. It's an interesting video.
Lucunyaaa 😍😍
That´s really nice!!!!
Do you need to wait the paiting to dry when you varnish?
Can you make a toturial video of how do you make thoose cards??

This is awesome
Hi I would like to know if I should add some water when I condition the clay. And if I can use water colour to paint on it?
hii! love the video!!
do you have any tips if you want to have more control on painting? like to be able to hold it without ruining the clay itself?

Where did you get these things for the back of the pins so they could even function as pins?
