    To help with dust, hairs fingerprints etc. use a q-tip with rubbing alcohol and gently go over the problem area. Works like a charm. Great video.

    I taught polymer clay for years professionally, this is a good source video. The only info I would add is that rubbing alcohol (I use a lower strength) is great to take out fingernail marks, dust, dirt etc prior to baking. Use a q-tip and gently rub. Also I find a smooth ceramic tile a must because you can create on it and then pop it in the oven and it bakes great. I have some videos for different types of projects I'd love for you to pop over and see. (I do paper and clay projects) You have a wonderfully accessibly and clear way of instruction and your video is full of solid information that gives the beginner a good grasp of the medium. Well done!

    • @Dragonaiis
      @Dragonaiis 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@leeann8105 I believe its used before baking while the clay is soft. It is used to smooth the clay. Because you don't want to use water

      Do you pull the item off the tile and put it back on the tile to bake? Or will it come off fine once it bakes?

    • @MichelleRaeLandry
      @MichelleRaeLandry 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@monicab28 it comes off fine once it is baked and cooled. Baking on a tile does make the surface that's on the tile shiny, however if that bothers you parchment paper can be put between the item and the tile, mostly I just cook right on the tile.

      where would someone find a class to learn this? asking since you said you taught it. :) craft stores? art colleges? just wondered if there is a place for a person to go learn. Also, as I was reading about the clay in an article, it talked about toxic fumes from baking and maybe the need to clean your oven afterward. Is there another idea for this because I would worry about this for sure. It might be a deal breaker if I have to worry about toxic fumes in my house or cooking in an unsafe oven. I'm sure you have heard this so curious what you might recommend. Thanks so much!!

    Smol tip: if youre going to glaze your art piece i recommend using Mod Podge (idk how to say it) like the white glue if you let it sit for a while it will give a glaze texture or use clear nail polish!
    I think most white glue / pva does work so maksure to expirement!

      @@abigailmojica3025in a sense, yes. As someone who has adhd myself, people with adhd tend to jump from hobby to hobby really fast and its call 'fixations' where someone with adhd craves dopamine (which is a chemical reaction in your brain that causes the emotion happiness) and finding a lot of hobbys that you enjoy is a good way of getting dopamine.

    Try parchment or wax paper instead of foil, it's semi transparent so you have some idea of what color the clay is. You can go a bit further by squishing the clay into patties and wrapping the clay like a 'taco', and then put that into a ziploc bag. This helps keep my clay fresher but doesn't let it stick to the clear bag as easily.

    You're amazing. Very nice voice and whole video. The tips were very helpful to me. I'm starting with polymer clay and I was looking for a video like yours, so... thank you again! :) Sorry for my English, I'm from Poland haha

    I just started. I don't have a pasta machine yet and I'm not willing to invest until I see if I'm gonna stick with it. (ADHD). However, I got a cheap extruder off of Temu and found that is very helpful for conditioning the clay on the cheap. I just roll a ball into a rope and then extrude it once or twice with the biggest hole plate and it's soft and ready to work with. Very helpful. :)

    I've found using isopropyl alcohol on a qutip helps get dust and lint off before baking the clay

    Small tip: If your clay is hard put it in warm water to make it soft enough to mold easily. But do not put it in for too long because it will get too soft and stick to your hands and desktop and will leave a mark.
