After trying to get this done. It took me 4 hours to get it in time. When your lineing up all the marks . Make sure you go to the right when putting on the belt starting crank gear. After that's leave the left top gear 1 tooth off ahead. Leave the top right gear basically straight on the mark. Tighten the tensioner and it should pull the left top gear in time and the right side will stay in time. Hope it helps took me 4 hours
Been having such a terrible time I’m leaving the right cam gear TDC and left cam one tooth off to the right still not lining up right. Did you leave the crank dead center?
3.6 engine 07 Pacifica Amigo I was driving one day and it just stopped and wouldn’t start so now we opened it up the inner timing case the inner tension was all busted bearing are everywhere ... Now my question is how did the valves bend this engine is a interference engine. Now the timing chain moved about 5 or 6 teeth and the belt wasn’t broke ..my mechanic is saying I need to fix cylinder heads or put another engine ..now if he just put a new tension and put everything back together and started engine he messed up the valves if he didn’t line up the timing before he started up the engine right ???
Yes that could had been the problem! I can tell you i have done few of this heads but might be easier to just get an engine with low mileage and ve done with headaches
Did you need to relearn the camshaft & crankshaft sensors. I changed the belt and engine runs good, but I get P0016 code only at the start of the engine. If I reset the code. I can run without it coming back until I shut it off and restart, then it comes back.
Where are you located, I'm visually imperment but 'm very familiar with mechanic work, I'm going to be changing the water pump on my 08 Dodge nitro, mechanic I know is ok, but I want to save money been having financial difficulties since I post my sight, I'm asking if you know of someone in Houston to help me make sure I do the timing, I believe I can do it, but I'm a bit concerned
Wow Unfortunately i dont know anyone down there I am in Central GA But if there is anything i can help you from here I will Like diagrams or anything like that
@@GeneralMechanicGA wow thank you so much I would really appreciate a little bit of guidance my son will be helping me this will be his first project I used to work on cars in my youth when I used to street race but since I lost my sight and of course now I'm getting better by the grace of God I am going to teach my son the ropes of working on cars once again thank you so much Jen
Lets talk about routing the timing belt. Are you using clamps to help you keep the belt in position while routing it for example clamp the belt down on the right cam gear then wrap it under the water pump and then the left cam gear? I am having a problem keeping the slack only on the tensioner side
Hi! Well believe me that this engine i found to be really easy cause with very care-fore u can actually set cms right on time and they will stay on place so i found to it to be easy to set belt! But thanks for taking the time to watch Please subscribe for more!...
Beto Garcia if the timing belt snapped chances are the valves are bent because this engine is a interference..which means the belt snaps then pistons will smash into the valves and bend them

So to set the timing I just spin the shaft? Or do I have to keep spinning to a certain position?
Wow thank you know I know and understand thank u
When you tighten the bolts for that plunger does the pin go into that slot on the tensioner????
How do I remove the inner timing case ????

Did you ever figure it out mine did the same thing
Runs fine but throwing that code
O was replacing just the water pump and upon releasing tension I heard a pop sound maybe, does that mean it's out of timing.
Chiquita Wilson so you released the tension off the belt and put it all back together and heard popping sound ?
How Can i take out the bolt from the pinion?
Hey I’m trying to locate where the water pump is at on my 4.0 nitro, can you help?
Hay how can i now about coyls in the engin

@@rahrah8076 and if it's a non-interference engine?
Si vas a grabar un video graba como istalar la banda
So if its not aligned how do I align it?
Just spin the shaft by hand till you get to timing mark
That applies to cams and crank!
