- Mark shows you how to change the timing belt as well as a ton of other common things on a 2007 to 2011 Dodge Nitro - so if you need to change the battery, water pump, washer pump, power steering belt, AC drive belt and electric fan this video will help with that too
Great video! Thanks for the guide it worked like a charm🤝🍻
Good to hear - Cheers from Canada Eazye!
1000 blessing to you sir🙏
Anytime John - Cheers from Canada!
Excellent video really helped me a lot!
Glad it helped!
Hi this was a great vid. Help me out a lot but i cant figure out how to put the power steering belt back on. Stretchy Belt
I never said it should be removed - only AC - you don't need to take off the power steering pump -
carquestions sorry edited my post
just use a bar on the crank pulley and put it on in reverse of the way I took it off
great video
Thanks Dave - Cheers
Hi, I have been doing the exchange today and hardest I would say was to align all the three marks, the belt lived its own life but after loosening the tensioner more I managed to get evrything aligned. However during this activity one camshaft went away by itself a couple of centimeters clockwise (compression in cylinder?) when I layed the belt on. I then rotated this one clockwise so it once again aligned. Was this correct or have I messed up something in relation to the aligned marks and ignition etc..
Broke the torx e7 stud...I assume if I get that out they sell those studs?
Jake - try nut and bolt supplier - let me know how you make out - Cheers from Canada!
I have a 07 nitro Rt i am working on. The belt was broken off completely and my marks are just a bit of (bout a tooth) what can i do to properly Align them?
Fiddle with it - or find a way to lock the cam in place - Cheers and good luck.
I have a 08 nitro with 4.0. While pulling the harmonic balancer the two pulleys separated. They were both chipped so they needed changed anyway but now I'm hearing that the balancer with both pulleys have been discontinued
try searching google by part number - I found in stock at - www.moparpartsgiant.com/
I was wondering if you had a couple moments I had a question for you regarding this video. Specifically at 14:25
I'm not sure if my specific Nitro has a different setup but this particular Bolt that you're talking about seems to be the same exact one that's on the top. it's the one that requires removing the 13 millimeter nut and then using the crve7 torque .. the big problem is. Because of the frame rail there is literally no room. And I seem to have an additional bracket coming off of the frame that your Nitro you were working on does not. Mine is a 2007 two wheel drive RT
Where did you find the torx specs to put it back together? Doing one today.
Didn't use any - just experience - sorry James
@@carquestions thanks for the reply.
Hey having trouble getting those torx screws out they are tough and tight in there already broke a bit trying to get them out any tips? Also tried wd 40 as well as pb blaster
You could try heating and cooling with a small butane torch
@@carquestions thanks man. Well I don't have torch but after two days of soaking it in PB blaster I was able to get those off. Had to buy new fasteners of course they were disfigured by the time I got them off.
@@megaghostly1 Well done Mega!
Me oil pressure sensor on my dodge nitro 4.0 was over tightened and cracked the threads where it is installed and now leaks oil. Is there a cover that can be replaced on the engine or is it part of the block
It is part of the block - left lower front of engine beside the harmonic balancer - a helicoil repair is suggested
If it's like the 4.0 in the Routan/Caravan (very close to the crankshaft pulley), that part of the "block" is actually the oil pump housing. It IS removable. You have to remove the timing set like this video shows. You might be able to get away without removing the oil pan--maybe. The same thing has happened to me. I made a new oil pressure port in the oil filter adapter passage, and sealed/plugged the old one with lots of JB weld so I don't have to worry about it anymore. The leak has stopped, and the van is driveable, so I'm happy enough.
@@carquestions You can't fix a cracked housing with a helicoil repair. He's not talking about bad threads here. It's a thin mounting boss that is drilled and tapped for tapered pipe threads. When overtightened, the tapered threads will split the mounting boss and crack it.
I'm a bit confused, went to Autozone to get a timing belt kit for my nitro heat 2011and they said should be a timing chain, can you explain to me? That's it have one or the other??? Or both??? Sorry I'm an amateur 🤔
If you engine is a 4 litre V6 then it has a belt - if it is a 3.7 V6 litre then it has a chain - is yours a RT 4 litre? - Cheers from Canada!
@@carquestions yes it it's thanks
Bleeder screw in thermostat housing
What about it D?
Have bleed coolant with it to get proper heating but well hidden under intake at back8
Where is dadgum water pump😰
that looks like a nightmare
Not too bad but most timing belts are a pain.
