This song is so sad for us and it makes us more Sad bcs we ( the fans of Abd Alhalim ) we know what he has been through, with love, pain , sickness.. , how his life was so miserable , how he died , how he fought sickness his entire life , how he couldn't sleep at night, how he made his bed in a certain position to not die while sleeping , he was so miserable yet he even while severe sickness he could never postpone any of his performances bcs of the fans they used to wait for him to see him sing . He gave the world so much joy and love and so much music. Yet it was so miserable how he died at such a young age . May Allah grant him with mercy .

I'm Iranian who lived in Abadan in 1970's & of course we could watch Egyption T.V.
I grew up listening to Hafez. I moved to the UK in 1976. One day in 1977 I heard that he had actually passed away in hospital in London. That was the saddest day of my life :(
He suffered from a terrible liver disease that took his life at such early age :(

If you’re missing the meaning of the story,
“Walady ” means my son, and it’s commonly used word to talk to your buddy on even yourself.
It also may reflect the story of Abdulhalim himself who didn’t officially married during his life although he had a very difficult love story with Soad Hosny the sweetheart of Egyptian cinema.
This song was also the last one he sang before his shocking death at the age of 47.
The last sentence you’re asking about means the he had been chasing that love for most of his life and discovered he’s chasing “smoke” or nothing cos his lover doesn’t even have an address or in other words you may never find the true meaning of your own life !
Some people also relate the song to the love of the homeland Egypt

This song was written by the Syrian poet Nizar Qabbani. He was talking about Freedom in this poem and a chapter was deleted from this song which refers to Freedom. "In your life my Son ..a woman, Her eyes grace to God, Her lips round as a bunch.. And the love of your heart is sleeping in a monitored palace
The palace is big, my son, and dogs and soldiers guard it" .. But they eliminated the last part when Abdulhalim Hafiz sang the poem.

Can't believe that this song was performed while Abdel halim was in his last moments before leaving us!!💔 Qarea Al fengan is the last and greatest song he ever made despite of his illness. It's 58 minutes long! The musical introduction in 10 minutes (but without the repeating that happened in
" gana elhawa" ) the melody is so hard, it took 2 years from "Mohammed el Mugi" to make. In some parts of the song he repeats the verse with a completely deferent melody. El Mugi said that he never made such a melody before.
The melody is based on C minor scale and changes into more sad oriental scale "sapa" and more scales (maqam) depending to the meaning.
Finally, it is really a masterpiece 😍I know it's hard for a foreigner to listen to 58 minute song but it was a good choice to pick a short virsion without the musical intro😂♥️ greetings to you from Egypt 🇪🇬🌹🌹

This is a song written by a poet called nizar kabani. The song is about a lady reading his coffee cup "like gypsy" kind of reading. She tell him that he will find love nothing like there is and he is destined for this live but this love story has a lot of difficulties. She explained his journey for this love to discover that his love intrest doesn't really exists in this world , she has no address. The reason this song is sad is because abdel halim lover died because she had cancer and she was from a very rich familly and as a singer he was not up to her family standard so their love was a secret till she died. The song is a metaphore to his love story ❤

The translation is in some strophe. The lyrics belong to a poem by poet Nizar Al QbbaniHere I'll leave you a good one:
    Nizar Qabbani
She sat with fear in her eyes
    Contemplating the upturned cup
She said "Do not be sad, my son
You are destined to fall in love"
My son, Who sacrifices himself for his beloved,
    Is a martyr
    ***
For long have I studied fortune-telling
But never have I read a cup similar to yours
For long have I studied fortune-telling
But never have I seen sorrows similar to yours
You are predestined to sail forever
Sail-less, on the sea of love
    Your life is forever destined
To be a book of tears
    And be imprisoned
    Between water and fire
    ***
    But despite all its pains,
    Despite the sadness
That is with us day and night
    Despite the wind
    The rainy weather
    And the cyclone
    It is love, my son
That will be forever the best of fates
    ***
There is a woman in your life, my son
    Her eyes are so beautiful
    Glory to God
    Her mouth and her laughter
Are full of roses and melodies
And her gypsy and crazy love of life
    Travels the world
    The woman you love
    May be your whole world
But your sky will be rain-filled
Your road blocked, blocked, my son
Your beloved, my son, is sleeping
    In a guarded palace
He who approaches her garden wall
    Who enters her room
    And who proposes to her
Or tries to unite her plaits
Will cause her to be lost, my son...lost
    ***
You will seek her everywhere, my son
You will ask the waves of the sea about her
You will ask the shores of the seas
    You will travel the oceans
And your tears will flow like a river
And at the close of your life
You will find that since your beloved
Has no land, no home, no address
You have been pursuing only a trace of smoke
How difficult it is, my son
    To love a woman
Who has neither land, nor home

Somehow Qabbani knew about the story of Abdolhalim and wrote it as a poem.
It's true, that's why he is so angry while singing for the first time of his life on stage

The Arabic language is strong and carries many meanings, and is predominantly symbolic. Believe it or not, his lover is "Freedom", which does not have an address in the Arab countries.

So, the first thing I noted that the translation in the video you watched wasn't Interpreting the song accurately and that's why you probably didn't get what some sentences means.
For the last sentence the fortune teller was saying :"oh son, what a difficult feat to adore a woman that you can't find".
If I was to translate it as it was said, it would give you confusion like what happened when you read it.

Salaam alaikum! I was born in Canada and was introduced to Umm Kalthum and Abd Al Haleem by my Palestinian friends. Wow! I love them. It is impossible to express in English this emotion. I don’t listen to their music a lot because it is so emotional. It takes me days to recover

This version is poorly cut actually that I was worried the while time that you don’t catch the beauty of the song haha, but the song itself is sooooo great.
If you are confused about what the ending means it’s basically saying that this woman doesn’t exist in the first place, like in the middle she said he loves a woman whose eyes are beyond imagination and so and so but whoever gets close to her will “vanish” the word “vanish” isn’t an accurate translation. It’s more like he will be lost… which is the literal meaning of “mafqoud” and touches close to the original meaning.
And in the end she reveals that he will search and search everywhere and ask everyone for her and his sadness will grow like trees but he will find out too late that he has been chasing an illusion… “home” at the end refers to her existence… like she doesn’t have a home or an address where he can find her at.
Oh and “walady” is not his name😂 it literally means “my son”.
    Hope this was helpful.

I realise you opted to react to this abridged recording of the song because it would be very difficult to make a reaction video to an hour long video, but I do advise you to go and listen to the entire song when you can, because you'd be missing out on a lot if you don't. Regarding the title of the song, its literal translation into English is 'The Cup Reader,' but what it actually means is 'The Fortune Teller' It is part of Arabic/Middle Eastern superstition that some people can tell your fortune by looking at the lines and streaks in your inverted coffee cup. Basically, it's the equivalent of looking into a crystal ball. As for some of the lines which you didn't fully understand, I think since it is a poem, more than one interpretation can be valid. I personally don't quite understand the last verse, too.

    • @yasminemn2311
      @yasminemn2311 ปีที่แล้ว +1

The last sentence “It is impossible loving a woman with no home” should be “How it is hard to love a woman with no address” because Ônwan is address and it was used previously in the song (country and address).
and Asâba means hard not impossible , but ma Asâba means soo hard; so maybe near impossible
My guess she has no address maybe a metaphor that she is only in his heart, impossible to him to reach her for real. It is sooo hard or impossible to love someone who is not meant to be with you, that's why she has no address and you have no address to get to her.
like it was said previously in the song, it will turn out to be an illusion

The story was made into a movie. The actor who played that role was "Omar khorshed" he was originally a guitarist (the best guitarist in whole Egypt and always played the guitar in Abdel Halim concerts😍). In the movie, the woman died. In the song, the poet (the song writer Nizar qapany) wanted to say that the boy just doesn't have her address so he can't find her anymore. She no longer have a home to be found in.

The main idea of the song is someone “walady” or my son, who’s loving from one side…… he loves someone who doesn’t love him back or can’t be with him…….. which most people say is the life story of Halim himself 😒 the music is one of the best 🥰🥰

The last part is: they say a woman who has no “address” not “home” it was said that this woman is a symbol of life itself. You seek happiness but you get lost, and end up broken hearted. True happiness is guarded by illusion and evasive vision.

  • @asmaasaleh3914

The last part means that the woman he loves doesn't exist in this life and that he is running after an illusion.
And p.s.. home in arabic language means "address or house, and also is a metaphor for the word" existance"

  • @ranaj.6531

actually it is "address" not home at the end of the song....
this song is a poem of one of the most famous Arab poets " Nizar Qabbani from Syria" .... the woman he is talking about resembles "life" ,dunya in Arabic ...
