    using steel baseplates for the engine mounts to your aluminum fram risks galvanic corrosion to the frame unless you isolate them from each other.

      newton9837 total agree. I use to make horse boxes and they had lots of connections between aluminium and steel. Once painted we use thin rubber as a gasket or somethings duct tape to prevent the corrosion.

      @7rib3rg 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Also, since the engine and transaxle is one unit the bushings will need the same amount of flex to not put too much stress into the transaxle housing.

    • @battleaxesoldier

      @@7rib3rg I'd venture that this is less critical than you'd think. 4x4 rigs see a lot more stress, and this is never much of a consideration.

    • @HMan2828
      @HMan2828 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Stiffness is a good thing, flex = loss of power. You want the power to go into the wheels, not into the frame. You just got to make sure the frame is stiff too (usually it is with a roll cage installed), otherwise theres a chance to twist it...

    • @sanjotorek8627
      @sanjotorek8627 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@HMan2828 I agree with the flex and stiff issue. But the most engine mounts are a bit softer to allow a little movement to compensate vibrations to reduce the stress to the frame. He has to improve the overall stiffness from the frame if he don't want to rip all apart at the first real power run.

    • @HMan2828
      @HMan2828 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@sanjotorek8627 Well yeah I assume there will be reinforcement to the mounts before being final... Just add two more sections to each arm to make the mount a triangle, and weld wedges on the perpendicular on each arm to prevent them from bending (could also have used rectangular tube at a 45 degrees rotation for this, to present the most stress to a corner instead of a flat). Also a cross bar between the two mounts where it clears under the engine and above the trans also welded to the frame will strengthen the whole thing a lot and help distribute the stress around.
