      +Dale Branch Thank you, the video quality will be getting better. I've got lighting booms coming, sound dampening form for the bounce I hear in preproduction and a new external mic for this camera. And finally in a couple of weeks I'll be increasing the resolution with a better camera. If most people have not seen all the RAMPS videos are CC in 70 or more languages. I'm trying to improve the viewers understand and my skills at presentation. So just a small hint another tutorial series is being planned, but I'm going to remain quiet on the details until 50% is in the film can.

    I am converting a bricked xyz da Vinci jr 1.0 from the proprietary software to Ramps (my first 3d printer), and your videos have been invaluable so far. I will work my way through them one by one as I am offically on the wiring phase, and ill be taking notes on your videos where to reference to make the software adjustments. Thanks for putting all these together, breaking TONS of information down into more manageable pieces.

      @@TheMrPopper69 Good and not so good. I could never get the optical sensors to work and I don't have a 3D printer to make brackets for mechanical switches, but I was hoping to work around that temporarily. I got the rest of the wiring completely finished and operational, the reason this is still a bricked unit is because I could never figure out the configurations on the software. If I had more experience with the programming side of 3D printers, I can get this working... I think.

    Many thanks Edward. Really great explaination, appreciate... Happy to see your series as the first thing i found via Google and RAMPS was that most ppl are damaging their 5volt regulator on the Arduino so I was not sure how to power up / programm without damaging... Simply questions like do I am allowed to connect the Arduino via USB while 12 v is connected ? All the connection stuff I was a bit scared not to damage anything. Your explaination here clearly shows how to progress. Really appreciate. Next to go to add the drivers and motors and I just figured out thats also the next on your video list :-)

    This is all very new to me, but I have a question. I'm building a small 3-axis cnc plasma table using nema 17 motors and v-slot extrusions. I ordered three motor drivers and an EC-300 Ethernet control board (ethernet seems less affected by the high frequency interference of the plasma arc than usb). I see your Ramp setup doesn't use separate motor drivers like a cnc machine does. Is there a reason a 3d printer can connect the x,y,z motors to a single board but cnc machines have to run a separate driver for each motor? Seems like the Ramp card serves as an easier setup but maybe it's a power requirement issue? Just curious since this will be the first time I wired a cnc machine. Thanks. Subscribed.

    Hi, Thank you for your very to the point, and simple explanation of all Ramps Board. I'm new at this ( as I'm sure you've heard a million times ), and i'm very good at building things, but it's the electronics ( software / hardware ) that i need to learn. I'm pretty proficient with the basics of 3D printer build, but i'm wanting to venture into Laser build using this board setup. Would you have the time to help me learn how to setup the board, and software for a laser? Any help would be much appreciated.

    • @EdwardBraiman
      @EdwardBraiman  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm planning on doing a video someday on lasers, but there are many dangers involved. First ventilation, second eye protection, third fire. If you can address these first look in board.h file with Marlin firmware. Then research gcodes for for command codes. My fear is people injuring themselves, so I've avoided the subject.

    • @briankostrba4897
      @briankostrba4897 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Edward Braiman yes I fully understand those points, to the extent the first thing I did when I got my cheap 2W to play with, was to throw away the worthless glasses they give. Basically just plastic. I spent the $$ on once from a reputable laser company.
      Well if you do end up doing a guide to basic hardware software setup, I'll be watching it.

      Sometimes in the printer software like Pronterface or OctoPrint you can turn on more messages. My guess is something is occuring with a thermistor. Seeing the stop code might help you diagnose the issue.
