For those of you that are trying this, you need to do it quickly. I tried doing it slowly but it doesnt work. So the steps are: 1. Get in your car and lock the doors with the door button 2. Push to start twice quickly to on mode(you dont have to wait for the animation to finish) 3. Unlock and hold, first 3 secs you can open the door continue to hold until 15 secs are done. 4. You should hear a beep 5. Gauge cluster will display AL ON 6. Close door, and lock with door button 7. Wait 30 sec until the solid lock light starts flashing. 8. All done!
Went to the dealer he had to connect to car with his shop analyzer to get it working. Now when you hit lock 3 times on the wireless remote the horn sounds once. It is now activated!
amazing, my dealer told me that this car doesn't come with an alarm system - it is so good to know that it indeed does and is just deactivated. thanks for the help!!
It took me a couple of tries to get it to work. I found that after locking it and waiting a few moments that when I pushed the unlock button opening the door immediately and continuing to hold the button caused the alarm to activate. Sure enough the horn honked and where the odometer reading usually is the letters "AL ON" were displayed for a moment and then went away. When I held the unlock and waited a few moments to open the door it didn't want to work. Thanks for this. I thought it was odd that there wasn't an alarm on the vehicle.
I want to make an important note (GR86 owners can SKIP). For those who own the 22+ Subaru BRZ, the “AL ON” procedure is a bit different from the GR86: (Instead of locking the door and waiting for 10s before holding the unlock button and open the door.) *(1) You lock and immediately hold the unlock button;* *(2) Then, keep holding the unlock button and open the door;* *(3) Keep holding the button for 30s, until the car honk and the dash says “AL ON”.* This procedure alarm activation procedure is the same on the first-gen BRZ.
Dealerships need to be ashamed for overlooking this issue. Instead of ripping off customers(more Toyota than Subaru), do your job properly. When I got my 2023 Subaru BRZ, my tires were overinflated by 20 psi and they forgot to check them before selling me the car. I almost got into an accident.
Ive tried everything as suggested. I never get horn beep as suggested by the instructions. It seems as though there is no alarm to activate! Any suggestions? 2024 GR86 TRUENO
I would check the manual to see if they possibly made any changes to the sequence for 2024. I know eyesight is now standard. In the user manual is where I located the instructions in this video.
I don't get it, so with the alarm off if I leave the window open someone can open the car from the inside and just drive it off? What is this alarm supposed prevent? It must be a smash-n-grab thing I guess. If someone breaks your window and opens the door from the inside an alarm goes off? Is that it? You can't steal the car just opening the door. WTF?
Danke
Interesting! I’m not sure about the European spec cars but there are minor differences from the US spec ones. Our keys have three buttons one to unlock, lock and the third one is for the trunk/boot. I would check with your dealer to see if your car has it as an option. These instructions are located inside the US spec cars operation manual.
Here in another country in Europe, the delaer told me that it is equipped :) But had no idea how it works. The delaers have much less info about these fantastic car than the owners. I had to learn how to drive a real car :)
Yes my car is equipped with the six speed manual. The Toyota app is free for the first year I believe and then you have to pay a subscription. For the manual cars it tells you if the cars is locked/unlocked, location, mileage and fuel level. It also allows you to lock/unlock remotely without a key and tells you if the alarm has gone off if the alarm has been activated.
I have Subaru 2023 BRZ, will it work this way and is that everytime I want to activate the alarm or just a one time thing and then in the future I just have to press lock on fob twice?
I am also having hard time getting it to activate, and finally get it working. This is how I do it and I just follow the owner manual page 81 1. engine off, ignition/dash display on, both door/trunk/hood close 2. hit and "hold" the door unlock button, and open the door 3. within 10 sec, you should get a single beep for AL on or 2 beep for AL OFF

You don't need steps 1(the car can already be unlocked),6 or 7( once it says Al On you're all good .
After three months of trying.....turn car to on...push unlock immediately and open door. Done!
Non of this works on my 2024 GR86 TRUENO

Just activated mine! Instructions are also on page 81 of the owners manual. Super surprised the system isn’t activated when you get the car
Probably for transportation. Dealership should activate it…

Excellent, glad it worked!
Thank you!!!
Your way works... thanks alot
Opening the door whilst holding the unlock button IMMEDIATELY and continue holding until you get the “beep” is the key. Thank you!!
Nothing happens to me, been trying for hours now. Immediately or not. I don't understand.

Very helpful thank you so much!
You’re welcome!
thx bro
It’s only for the doors. If the windows are smashed by Someone that just wants to take personal items…the alarm won’t go off
Correct. That’s the case for most factory alarms. This alarm is more of a deterrent and immobilization so the actual car isn’t stolen.

The alarm is completely off by default.

I just click lock button on fob 3 times and it flashes and beeps. But it takes 3 clicks

What video did you watch?
@@joedavid5995 Pretty sure it's this one

Welp, sure enough my BRZ's alarm system was inactive from the dealer
Hopefully now you have it activated! I’m not sure why Subaru/Toyota doesn’t activate the alarm as part of the PDI the dealership does.
Probably makes it easier for them to show the car and work in and out of it?
I did this. I got the beep and got the AL on. But when I tried to unlock my car after locking it with the keys, the alarm didn’t go off
If you unlock with the keys the alarm shouldn’t go off. It only goes off it the key is not detected or if it’s unlocked from the inside.
Did not work for me. I'm in Australia, would that matter?
It’s possible. I’m not sure about cars in other markets. Sometimes the manufacture makes minor tweaks. Is your car the premium or base?
Same bro! Spewing. My neighbours must have thought i was the biggest retard opening and closing the door 50 times lol
Mine didn’t work either and I am in Australia too. I tried the same steps like 15 times and nothing…
@@blackroyalwillyexel6304 have you gotten your DAB+ working?
UK and Aus only comes with engine emmobilizer. No alarm, you cannot find the alarm setting in the manual like other markets.
I did everything and nothing happened I even tried to test to see if it was already activated and nothing went off.
Do you have the base model or the premium?
@@Math333w this may not work for the base model. It seems like depending on the country the base may/may not come equipped with it.

Don't open your door too wide. Wont work if you do
