Hey Erin... if I wanted to make a title at the top of the bulleted list and the title and list are inside a "box" or frame, how can I include the title in the box? It wants to kick it out and put it in its own box instead.
That is an interesting question! Are you using a textbox from the Insert tab? I tried to replicate your issue by adding a title to a list in a textbox, but the title wasn't moved to another box.
i have a style which is all bullets. Sometimes I want to make a 1,2,3, numbered list but when I do it changes all the sub bullets for that style. I there a way to only change that ones I want to numbers without changing the rest of them?
Thank you for watching! If you select the first bullet in the level you want to change, all the bullets in that level should also be selected automatically--but the other bullet levels should not be selected. You can then select the Numbering button to change just those selected bullets. Best of luck!
Is there a way to use Google Docs or Google Keep Notes to create bullet lists or any lists using a voice entry method and also do a word search using voice of all my lists?
Thank you for watching! You can dictate to Google Docs and use voice commands to create bulleted lists. Here is an article from Google Support that you might find helpful: support.google.com/docs/answer/4492226?hl=en.
@@erinwrightwriting PLEASE READ HERE...! thank you, thank you so much for the quick response!!! I will investigate your suggestion...however, I’m not actually interested in G Docs...my inquiry...and I know it’s outside your presentation...actually concerns “list making apps”, such as Google Keep Notes. I think Google is missing a major feature for G KEEP. I make many lists in KEEP every week on my phone or tablet...voice entry works...a little, but not efficiently or perfectly. But imagine, if it did, the end result would be...”hey google, find ‘bandaids’”...Google would say ‘FB C 3’...meaning ‘front bath, cabinet C, drawer no.3’, which is where I listed bandaids, when I organized the whole house, garage, my woodshop and my garden shed, etc! ‘FB C 3’ is the name of the list for everything in that drawer. And, of course every designated storage area in the house would its own list. I’ve been searching for a list maker doc/app with this functionality for months! One day Google will do this and people will pay for that app! Thanks again for responding.
Thank you so much for watching! If you select the first bullet, all the bullets on the same level should be selected. You can then right-click and select Adjust List Indent. From the Adjust List Indent dialog box, you can set the indent to a specific number.
Suppose I am creating a multiple choice quiz with four possible answers (a, b, c, d). How do I keep the question and all of the choices on the same page? How do I prevent Word from separating any portion of the question and possible answers? I want the entire quesion and all answers choices to be on the same page. If it can't fit on the current page, then force Word to move the entire question and possible choices to the next page.
That is a great question! There are several ways to force a block of text to stay together. However, in the case of a short quiz, the easiest way may be to insert the entire quiz into a text box. I have a separate tutorial about text boxes that you may find helpful: th-cam.com/video/oXGJZwBYPwk/w-d-xo.html.
frustrations! When I add bullets to existing list, it adds it only to the first item! All tutorials say this should work. It just doesn't. How do I bulletize an existing list?
That does sound frustrating! My best suggestion is to turn on the Show/Hide button (looks like the paragraph mark) in the Home tab to view your formatting marks. Then, ensure that you have a regular break (paragraph mark) after each item. You may have another formatting mark present that is preventing the list from functioning correctly. I wish you all the best!
When I change list level from sub bullet to main bullet, it doesn't re-align it all the way back to the left where all of the other main bullet list items are. It on;y goes halfway between the sub-bullets and main bullets. I want to go from some sub bullets, down to a new main bullet item. It doesn't seem possible. Apparently only sub-bullets can end a list, not a main bullet, seems silly.
Thank you for watching! That sounds like a frustrating issue. Main bullets are normally able to end a list. If you select only the text for that last bullet, you may be able to use the tabs in the ruler to adjust the alignment.
well, I do know this but the thing is every time I try to add them it basically selects the whole thing and even the title adds up in the list and not just that but if I wanna change the font or alignment it selects the whole I really don't know how to explain but I hope you know what I mean :(
Thank you for watching! Unfortunately I'm not able to diagnose your issue. However, I do encourage you to reveal your formatting marks (Home tab > Show/Hide button, which looks like the paragraph mark), to ensure that you are not selecting any formatting outside of the list when you make your list selection. Best of luck!
Thank you for the suggestion! I have a separate tutorial on creating custom bullets that you may find interesting: th-cam.com/video/4NCINtAW104/w-d-xo.html
Thank you for watching! To change a bullet list level, select the bullet, select the Bullet button in the Home tab, and then select Change List Level. From there, you will be able to choose from nine different levels. Best of luck!
@@erinwrightwriting Thanks for your quick reply. I actually mis-worded my question. What I want to know is how to reset the "Change List Levels" to their defaults. Somehow mine have gotten all messed up with Child levels further to the left than several parent levels (from those children). thanks
@@radar_B-52 That is an interesting issue I have never encountered before, so I'm afraid I don't have any specific suggestions. You could reset your entire ribbon to the defaults, but that should be the "nuclear" option if you have a lot of customization. Are the list levels incorrect for all the bullet styles?
Thank you for watching! Here is an article from Microsoft support showing how to adjust spacing after the bullet: support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/change-bullet-indents-5ed8b9a0-d44c-4e9a-81b3-47c234e980d3. If you want to adjust the spacing between list levels, you can use the regular line spacing, as shown in my other tutorial: th-cam.com/video/xu6xS8yjDMA/w-d-xo.html. Best of luck!
