Wow, this brings back some memories. They were music royalty in a way. Linda is Sam Cookes daughtet, and Cecil was Bobby Womacks younver brother. He wrote, produced, sang and played guitar and bass. Incredibly talented and influential in the 80s and 90s. Please try their song "Love Wars". Very powerful and quite the vibe.
A timeless masterpiece (although an ‘80s tune it still bangs). Those vocals, bass strings & keys grip your soul…and it’s never letting ya go. Those are facts.
A great husband and wife song writing and singing duo to check out is Ashford and Simpson. "Solid" was a huge hit and "It Seems to Hang On" also a hit.
Yes for Asford and Simpson. Other songs by them are Is it Still Good To You, By Way of Loves Express, Don't Cost You Nothing, Found a Cure, Happy Endings and Bougie Bougie to name a few.
You MUST MUST listen to Bobby Womack who was Cecil Womack’s older brother. You can’t say you’ve taken a deep dive into soul until you’ve heard Bobby Womack. Start with “Across 110th Street” which was his biggest hit then get ready to get your heart ripped out with “If You Think You’re Lonely Now.
Music is such a powerful memory evoker. Me and my sister used to dance to this all the time - we used to get invited to parties as we were always the first up to dance . She passed away from Cancer 5 years ago. feel like we were dancing to this just yesterday. thanks for the great channel x

Hello from the UK .Great video. I love this song , it was my mum’s favourite. We had this song at her funeral, because my mum loved dancing. So I always think of my mum when I hear this song . X
I have been waiting so long for somebody, anybody to react to this song! I am a Gen-Xer who heard this song way back in (I think) 1987 and loved it. It wasn't a huge hit (it totally should have been) so it was gone pretty quick. Discovered it again thanks to online streaming radio. Great song.
Bobby Womack was a huge star ! I didn’t know he had a brother that was singer ! Don’t forget the song …. No matter how high I get I’ll still be looking up to you !
It's great that you guys are react to Womack & Womack. They are the best the eighties had to offer... the song "Teardrops" is great... but the absolute highlight is their "Baby I'm Scared Of You", please react to that... Thank you
There aren't even words to describe what this song makes me feel. It's just something truely unique. Classics like this are like fine wine They just get better with age. When this tune came on, everyone used to hit the dance floor 💃💃
I'm 75 years old and am not very mobile and can only ever manage one dance if I go to a wedding/party, but my grandkids know how much I love this song and they always request it and dance to it with me.
I really like hearing songs that come from your now global audience. This was not huge in the States but was huge elsewhere. This was a classic club beat track that still makes your toes tapping. ✌️
Says a lot about the US music industry in the early 80's that this wasn't more popular in it's home country. It was huge in the UK and is on rotation on the retro radio stations here.. Well worth checking out 'Love Wars' from the same period, which was a bit more US airwave friendly.
Linda Womack is 69 now and daughter of Sam Cook. Shes changed her name. Her husband cecil passed away of unknown causes in south africa in 2013 aged 65😮
This was not their big US club hit. Their absolute banger was Baby, I'm Scared of You. DJ's would mix the drive over and over and people would lose their minds. I saw them perform in a club once. He was assured and assertive onstage. She was shy and sang in a sweet little voice. Both came from soul music royalty. His Brother is Bobby Womack, famous for marrying his mentor Sam Cooke's wife just 3 months after he was shot to death. Bobby Womack had several notable R&B hits in cluding: if You Think You're Lonely Now, Daylight, Looking for a Love, I can Understand It, later covered by soul band New Birth, I Feel a Groove Coming On❤ Linda Womack is the daughter of Sam Cooke. Gasp! Give Baby I'm Scared of You a listen. Then prepare to dance.
Another great reaction Jay and Amber. You should check out "Baby, I'm Scared of You" and "Love Wars" by them, you should also check out 'Ashford and Simpson' who were a husband and wife group, tracks by them to check out are "It Seems to Hang On", "Flashback" and "Solid".
Whenever I hear the start of this song I'm reminded of being at a high school ball in late 1988 and watching a dancefloor FILL with people (parents as well as students) when it started playing.
Aah this brings back memories, great song. A steady beat and a good lyrical melody, that's all it has... and all it needs! The vibe they capture just go straight to the "enjoyment center" in our brains, it forces you to relax but also move, forget about the world for a few minutes. To me it is an art to make music like this, removing all "noise" and just giving the essentials that directly connect to our souls.
Yes that was her husband the producer he's Bobby Womack's brother. She's Sam Cook's daughter. I discovered them a couple years ago on you tube live in concert. My husband and I have been hooked since lol
Bobby Womack is the artist you should be doing reviews on ! Songs… If you think you’re lonely now , and No matter how high I get I’ll still be Looking up to you !
I love this song. I must of lived on the moon for a while because I have never heard that song before and I can’t understand why I wouldn’t except for the moon part 😂
This song was quite popular back then, and for some reason, it is often played nowadays on the youth radio station here. For Amber: if you want to see more music videos recorded in a studio: Champaign "How 'Bout Us" and Tom Browne "Funkin' for Jamaica".
I just cannot believe that this song by Womack & Womack only has 1.7 K likes in June 2024! There’s no way you can not move to this song! It is one of the best ever! Come on! You gotta like it!
Such a great beat! 🙌🏾 I’m not sure where else to request this, so in honour of the queen of rock I would love you to react to Tina Turner’s live performance at Wembley in 2000, doing Nutbush, Proud Mary, Better Be Good To Me, The Best, What’s love Got To do With It. Her concert in 1990, Barcelona is also out of this world!
Great song one of many from Womack & Womack think I was in love with Linda Womack in the 80s such a beautiful woman and a great singer don’t tell Cecil 😂
You guys should react to the live version of their song "Missing persons' bureau." Because Cecil led the performance as a giant congregation, with him as the priest and the audience as his church. So glorious to see how good he was. He later changed his name to Zekkariyas. And the band itself was now called The House of Zekkariyas. He and Linda moved to South Africa, where they lived until he died in 2013 at the age of 65.
As SOON as I saw this thumbnail come up in my feed....... I HAD to click..... this song was 'the shit'.... when I was 18/19 years old.... brings back so many memories of the club in NSW Australia that I used to go to when I was 18/19 years old, in the 1980's........ it was the song I danced to with a guy who went on to be a good/bad relationship, but I still have really fond memories..... Damn he could move lmao...... I wonder where he is now and if he also remembers when he hears this song.... :D xx

So happy you said it.
That's mindblowing thanks for the info. WOW
No he did not play bass, his other brother named, Harry, had played bass.
This song was huge in Australia, it was everywhere at the time
A timeless masterpiece (although an ‘80s tune it still bangs). Those vocals, bass strings & keys grip your soul…and it’s never letting ya go. Those are facts.

Hello from the UK .Great video. I love this song , it was my mum’s favourite. We had this song at her funeral, because my mum loved dancing. So I always think of my mum when I hear this song . X
Such a classic I remember this song being played all over the radio here in Australia throughout the 90s. Love it 🎉

When this was popular was flying often to Sydney where it was HUGE!! Danced my ass off in the late 80s to this Monster……..
This was the song playing when I walked into a nightclub for the first time.
The singer, the backing singers and the song touch me every time, I will never tire of hearing Womack and Womack’s “Teardrops”, l love it
I love Womack and Womack because they are different. Their music doesn’t just fit a particular style.
What a voice Linda had! 'Love Wars' was another hit of theirs worth a listen.
Oh I loved this song back in the 80s and still love it today when I stumble upon it every few years. ❤
Wow an 80s group that I totally had no idea of their existence. Thank you RS.
Me either and I'm a product of the 80s. Seems they hit it big everywhere but in the US.
I remember Bobby Womack (Womack's older brother) who I think was a bigger star. "If you think you're lonely now," is a classic.
Don't forget the great Bobby Womack song "Across 110th Street" which was included in numerous movies.
Bobby Womack was a huge star ! I didn’t know he had a brother that was singer ! Don’t forget the song …. No matter how high I get I’ll still be looking up to you !

This was a huge hit in Australia and I do believe they toured here as well.
I was wondering. The only song I know from them is that Houdini song.
Was huge all over europe, top 10 in many countries I guess

A lot of behind the scene drama in that Womack & Cooke camp! Their biggest hit was “I’m Scared of you”.
Jay & Amber, For a great instrumental, Billy Preston’s “Outa Space”!!! Billy plays several different keyboards on this very funky song!!!
