Yongnuo and Godox are great for the money. But if you shoot outdoors, Canon flagships (like 600ex ii-rt) are the only weather sealed speedlites to Canon cameras. If you shoot only indoors, it doesn't matter, of course. And like you already said, the build quality is on a totally different level. Canon flagships are reliable, both in build quality and in mechanics. You can trust them to fire everytime. My Godox and Yongnuo keeps letting me down sometimes and it's so annoying when you miss the shot and notice it when it's too late. I keep all 3 brands. But Canon is the only one I can really trust in every situation, even in rain outside.
I bought a competitor of this flash and I'd agree totally with the review ~ surprisingly, but delightfully good quality for the cheap flashgun ~ agree it's finer points don't match Canon and I'd expect longevity, weather sealing and capacitors to be weaker, but I suspect we'll get our monies' worth.
Definitely agree with you. I recorded this video about a year ago, the flash is still doing great! I haven't used it as much as I used to before the pandemic, of course, but still, no complaints. :)
CPS, Canon Professional Services: I was a member for many years and it was €70 plus one way shipping, for flash repair in any condition. I launched one down the stone steps of an ancient local collage during a wedding and sent the pieces to CPS for repair, I told them it crashed down a hundred stone steps and they only charged the €70 and I got a new flashgun. Another one on a fast full power shoot I shot way over specification and it went on fire ~ again a new flash for €70 ~ However, now CPS don't repair flashes anymore and commercial repairs are €300+++
Wow, that's crazy! Here in Sweden I have an insurance that covers all of my gear, but still, if I break something, I have to pay an equivalent to 150 euros to get it replaced. Still, always better than losing a 500 bucks flash or a $2000 lens, right? :)
Hello there I also use Both of them also 600ex rt 1st version out of them 3 I can say that I wont swap the canon one best ut all the next ones I will buy will be Yongnuo because its really worth the price. There is not a flash built to last forever anyway Im not afraid to risk it since is cheap but still does the job as good as the canon one. I highly reccomend Yongnuo you can buy 5 of them for the same price of canon and pair them 3 on yongnuo on 1 tripod or softbox and use them as strobe cuz you generate almost the power of strobe.
I bought that cheap flash, dropped it on the floor once from a foot high and the battery door broke. I tried fixing it and taping it and it didn't work. It lasted 1 month.
I love photography but I'm not a pro. I'm in the same boat as you, I purchased a Canon flashlight but now I'm need a second one but don't want to spend $500 on another Canon flashlight. What Speedlite would you recommend for a Canon 6D? I like to do a bit of product photography and portrait photography. Thanks for sharing your videos!
The Yongnuo one I mentioned on the video should work just fine. I used it with both my Canon 80D and with my 5D Mark IV and never had a problem with it. My setup is a $17 softbox I found on ebay, that speedlight I named above, some led bulbs that can give off white light at 6000k, a canon t5i with either the 18-135mm or tree 50mm 1.8 STM. What I wanna know most is would you personally use that flash if you had a paid shoot or event? I can't make that assumption since I don't have the experience to back it up.
Nós temos o mesmo range de lente e eu tenho 2 flashes assim como vc, um Nikon e um Wireless YN. E tenho usado mais o YN pq com o radio transmissor eu posso controlar o flash fora da câmera pelo radioflash. Já vou comprar mais um YN. Tenho há 1 ano e meu Niko tem 6 anos.
Sério? haha. que super! Temos praticamente equipamentos gêmeos. O YN é mto bom, nunca me deixou na mão. Trabalhar com 2 flashes externos é muito legal, principalmente para retratos criativos se você usar gel coloridos. Eu amo! São infinitas possibilidades!
