Great review style. Well done. The Genesis range of cars look great. I would have one over any so called luxury German brand. Reliability (being Hyundai owned) should be good too. My only worry for Genesis is brand awareness. No matter how good Genesis is, they have an up hill battle to convince the general public in the UK to walk away from Mercedes, BMW and Audi and buy their product. Despite the poor reliability record and sometimes bad customer service of the aforementioned brands, the UK public still blindly buy these brands. At the moment I would buy a Lexus over a Genesis purely because of their great reputation. So come Genesis convince us!
Giving it credit where it's due, this is how Lexus started with the LS400, by offering all the same luxury stuff at a discount price compared to BMW and Benz.
To be honest its the Bentley that looks like it was drawn by a toddler with bottle bottom glasses on. And the Cullinan looks like a 40's Triumph Mayflower that eaten too many pies. This is a work of art in comparison.
Nah - I've watched her do a few reviews now and I find the "humour" and sarcasm off putting, together with the over theatrical presentation style. Why do all the car reviewers now have to feel the reviews are about them instead of the vehicle?
Everyone seems to miss addressing the elephant in the room .... service after the purchase ... I went to purchase one to only find out the Genesis GV80 can ONLY be serviced by a Genesis dealer wether in warranty or out of warranty. I was told if you break down and there is no dealer near where you are the GV80 MUST be towed to the nearest dealer (too few servicing dealers to make this a viable choice)... at your expense. After the warranty you still have to go a Genesis dealer as they are the only ones that have the diagnostic tools ... I was told point blank .... no Hyundai dealer can service the GV80. So if you buy one from a dealer don't even think about traveling any distance, unless your destination has a Genesis dealer, with it as you could get stuck with no way to get service.
A "thumbs down" for comfort? Literally EVERY other reviewer has mentioned the soft, supple ride (somewhere in the happy middle between BMW X5 and Mercedes GLE). Thumbs down to Carbuyer.
If only they had dealers. I absolutely love my G80 but will never but another Genesis again until they build dedicated dealers. I have had terrible service experiences at both Hyundai dealers in my area. They are even subpar compared to the Chevy, Honda and Nissan dealers in the area. They can't touch the Acura, Lexus and Mercedes experiences. You pay a premium for high end luxury but you have to deal with the thrift store for sales and service.
I would never buy a Hyundai again due to the useless UK aftersales service. Good car but 50/50 whether faults are fixed and their service plan was a con.

I'm not sure why anyone's complaining about the reverse rev counter , I'm sure it's comes as an automatic and if your one for changing gears you should be able to do it by the feel and sound of the engine.
I like the way this young woman reviews new cars, thank you... For that money, I could get behind the wheel of a beautiful, well maintained second hand BMW X5.
No 3.5l petrol & using Hyundai service/repair dealerships means I'm out. My top-of-the-line Santa Fe developed faults after six months which my local dealership repeatedly fobbed off. Some I've fixed myself, some remain. A 5 year warranty is only as good as the dealer's ability to fix the faults. Be warned.
Waay too big for me, but that is a lovely interior. Don't like the reverse direction rev counter though. I bet it will be more reliable than a lot of its rivals too. Out of interest does this have straight or v6 engines? Sounded very very quiet👍.
Lovely car. But I have no idea how the law passes the size of the touch screen when it quite clearly has a blind spot on your windae. But lovely car. 🌵🌵
I love the references to ‘really good for a new car’ - it’s basically a big Hyundai with a made up badge on it - this is hardly a new ‘start up’ manufacturer!
I think I like it, but then I don’t ! Is it me or can I just see bits of other cars such as bmw info screen and jag pop up dial, Bentley speedo screen etc etc

Why eould i pay 50 k for a damn hybrid , those are for the poor , rich people afford fuel and dont care about damn hybrid and your damn electrification
The car is ugly (but that is only my opinion as the beauty is personal). Still the car looks like a Franckenstein made out of parts and ideas from other cars without being aligned or integrated one with the other. The screen is not nicely integrated. It simply pops-up on the dash. Integration will mean to cover it like the rest of the dials. The only good thing is that the screen is only wide without being too tall. This car is not there yet, inlined with the refinement and the pleasure of driving or be in a posh vehicle. It is an experiment and it is ok like that but still I would expect more.
Big ugly boat of a car. Profile like a barge; lugging coal on a canal. Too big just like those Audi, BMW, Alfa grill heavy alternatives. The size of the car makes the occupant look like they've escaped from Lilliput; a tiny person trying to look like a footballer/footballers wife. Like it's German rivals cars with these looks are best left to the discerning buyers of the UAE.
Sticking in the face of Bentley for a lot lot less money.. looks better than a BMW X5 or Mercedes M…
Maybe the back end is decent looking but that front end will age like milk!

The fact that Lexus' have a consistent reputation for high-reliability is icing on cake.
Me personally, I wouldn't knock it for not being a hybrid. That just adds to the cost that not everyone might necessarily care for.

Great video, Genesis should lower the front Reg plate to keep the grill clear
In Canada, you can get the 2.5L four cylinder turbo petrol or the 3.6L twin turbo V6 petrol. RWD is only available in America.

Why doesn't the UK get the 3.5-litre twin-turbo V6 like the rest of Europe and other markets like North America and Australia do?

I think the Bentley Bentayga looks like if the Bentely Bentayga was designed by a toddler. It isn't exactly a looker...
Fair enough - the Bentayga divides opinion in the Carbuyer office just as much as the GV80!
