My dad owned a long bed 65 chevy C-10 with 283 power pack 3 speed in the column. That was the first vehicle I learned to drive on our dirt road farm. It was a tough old truck which we named "Old Blue". We bear hunted, deer hunted, and keep beehives deep in the North Carolina Bays. This truck was even a daily driver to work for my father and served our family well. When I see these trucks it brings back good memories.

Why can't the hosts just get along? I can't believe, when I was a kid, this would've been stretched over 10 weeks playing on Sunday from 10am-10:30am so I'd have to be at home and have control of the remote. Insane. There's no way I'd be able to see the entire thing.

Imagine the amount of constant cleaning, tidying, organizing etc that must be going on in order to maintain a restoration shop in this pristine condition! A typical shop would have crap everywhere, oil on the floor, McDonald’s wrappers rotting in the corner. These guys must love being able to work in this environment.

When I was watching him put the flywheel bolts in I was wondering about using locktite. I thought back when I was a lot younger, 40 years ago. We didn't use locktite. We just used the term TTT tighter than tight. most of the time using a 1/2" drive ratchet and the breaker bar. The other thing is we didn't use new bolts that often. Even though we cleaned the threads up, There still was some amount of rust left. And I wonder if that helped them stay tight. Now this day and age I would use blue Loctite every time, and torque to spec.

The 292 is a cool engine to go with. Outside of having so much more room under the hood, it can out torque V8's. It was designed as a replacement for the 261 and outperformed many 283s.
The downside is it's a lower rpm motor and a bit of a gas guzzler. With a stroke of more than 4" though (as much as a big block V8), turbo will light this build up. Inline 6's have a very good exhaust sound and inherently balanced.

I agree, painting the engine compartment would have been a nice touch. On the outside it’s a sad looking neglected truck and someone ran out of paint. I would have liked seeing the whole vehicle painted. The truck was new once. “The patina” shows nobody took care of that truck and just left it to rot. My Grandfather had an old truck just like that and he took good care of it. He never would have let it just set and rot outside. It’s their truck and their choice. I am glad they fixed it up and did some really cool things to really fix it up very nice, so kudos on that!!!

I really think that would've been something cool to see and it would've absolutely set that engine apart from the standard Offenhauser intake manifold design dating back to the 50s and 60s.

Chevy did you guys one better back in 1991. Well, it goes like this...
In 1991 only Chevrolet put the 6.6L Caterpillar L6 diesel engine on front of a 6 speed manual transmission and installed them in it's medium duty truck chassis (10 wheeler). I got to drive a brand new one while I was the front-end man at Youman's Chevrolet in Macon Georgia.
It had a turbo too, and I bet it would outrun that old C10 of yours. Well, it didn't have a box on it yet, just a chassis and a cab. But man was it fast.
