Wasn't it more the reason he was willing to sign with a major label, cos Soundgarden was the first grunge band to prove it was possible without losing integrity?
The least favorite human: One of my all-time fav pix of Kurt is the one where the band's playing a gig in some club and Kurt's playing guitar upside-down while doing a headstand (technically, he's balancing on a shoulder and the back of his neck). In that photo, he's wearing a Soundgarden sweater or full-sleeve jersey.
Chris loved NIRVANA. At the "New Music Awards" show, he was wearing a NIRVANA shirt and also said something about wearing your heroes on your shirt (I don't know, it's kind of hard to hear him in the version I found).
Not really. He led so many bands, and there ARE other people in those bands. It's not JUST him. Unless you mean the redundancy. Yeah, they don't have to add his name. They...coulda just said Soundgarden. I think I misunderstood what you meant, lol.
I'm not saying that saying "Chris Cornell and Soundgarden" is OK but saying "saying 'Chris Cornell and Soundgarden' is like saying "me and myself"" is like saying "I don't 'get' Soundgarden because I don't 'get' how Soundgarden was a BAND, in the truest sense, with 4 individual members who made valuable and worthy contributions, that made the whole band great and be more than just the sum of it's parts". Chris was a great singer and lyricist, great guy and all that jazz but he WASN'T Soundgarden. So please stop tempting me into taking up my time replying to wrong, random, misguided bullshit that somebody posted about my favourite band (for 31 years), on the Internet.
I love how grunge is so anti-perfect! I grew up in a highly sanitized Christian town, went to the Christian primary & high school...and parents were super perfectionists. So when I rebelled and left home at 17 in '94, the grunge movement was in its' early days...it was perfect!😉
in its early days by 94? it was pretty much over by 94 thanks to kurts death, it lasted a few more years but it was fading because of kurts death, if he didnt die it wouldve still been the massive movement that it was until the late 90s, soundgardens superunknown and silverchair kept it going for a bit, pearl jam were never as popular as they were in 92/93 and alice in chains were finished by 96, the grunge movement was tragically cut short
I’m Christian but I’ve never experienced that. My parents and I all love this kind of music. I don’t know if it has just changed with the times or what.
I love how he messes up with lyrics here. The thing is, when the song came out nobody could understand a fuckin word Kurt was singing. So I guess this here is what Chris have figured out of the lyrics.
Of course, 12 years older than me. What I mean is that he did recover his voices after rehab. His voice was very masculine and nice to hear when he talked.
Mannnn, this video sure does bring back memories. Was at this show on Bainbridge Island. Being from Seattle, I've met them and seen them many times (before and after), but this specific Lollapalooza show was amazing, and had an amazing lineup as well. The Chili Peppers headlined this one. Pearl Jam was also on the bill, and I also remember Ministry absolutely killing it as well, if I recall. Great times, and great memories
Is it just me, or does it feel like things are finally disappearing, and time is unraveling the fabric of our youth. People and faces just becoming a memory. A whole generation and their impact becoming nothing
Mikail Stacy Their impact stays with those who experienced it, and those that come after and are inspired to do just as good. Things will get better in the next decade or so I think, rock is going to make one hell of a comeback.
Mikail Stacy Chris was the only hero of mine still alive, it really hit me when he died. I feel your pain, but I think after the moment is gone, I/e our youth, the moment doesn't die, really it just becomes a part of us. It feels like it's dying because he was like an external and living memory of our youth, and with him gone it has become fully internal and it makes it really feel lonely. I still haven't gotten over his death, it has really fucked me up.
Almost a year now.Still can't believe he's gone. So Heart broken. Miss you forever.Your Truly A Legend. You. Deserved more than you got. At least they can't take our memories and Thanks To Everyone who Posts These Amazing videos.Forever Great full. Rest Easy.Beautiful Soul. 😢♥😇♥😘
I just got it now and I'm 2 years in the future..BTW: in 2020 China will release a "virus" into the World. spoilers it's actually a bacteria that causes blood clots. Any hoo it ends up being just some hyped up bullshit
I gotta bring this up; Did you notice Chris Cornell sang, "I was stupid, and contagious" around the 1:20 mark? I thought maybe this was recorded AFTER Kurt died, so I was like, "Shots fired!" Then I realized that this was in fact, recorded in 1992... That lead to, "What? Wait... Woah... Hmmm...", Lol...
This isn't a full cover of Nirvana's "Smells Like Teen Spirit" but rather is more of a mashup of one of Soundgarden's songs off of their "Bad Motor Finger" album (released the same year that this concert took place).
All respect i love chriss layne eddie he shouldnt have tried this one disaster but respect r.i.p brothers seattle boys wish grunge would make a come back id like to see ledgends reborn😔
lolla 92. I went to the McLean VA show, they did Cop killer and chris came out at the beginning of the pearl jam set and gave us 3 temple of the dog songs with them because eddie was late....
One of the greatest, I wish I would payed more atention of his music when he was alive. Last day I heard for first time their first album.....Fuckin Amazing!
Winston Zendejas of the small version of smells like teen spirit? Or the whole version of slaves and bulldozers by soundgarden? This is just paying some respect to Nirvana at the time. Kurt loved soundgarden. So they just threw that little piece into one of their own songs to pay respect.
I laughed my ass off when he said I think I seen somebody throw their pants in the air
CazzSDMF dude had the best sense of humor..so deadpan...i will miss him dearly
Yeah, and when he sang "Smells Like Teen Spirit" he changed the lyrics to "I'm with stupid.." showing at his band members :D
CazzSDMF 'Remember you've got to take your shoes off first!'
He just encouraged it lol
Jimmy Jams loser
Not enough people throw their pants in the air these days
Or wave them like they just don't care..
Haha too funny...your comment totally out did my “every one is dying or dead....stupid world,” comment :)
Remember, you gotta take your shoes off first.
That's where most people mess that one up!
What pants?
@@AlphaMachina I like your thinking!
Ain't nobody got time for pants!
The world would be abit of a better place if Chris, Kurt, and Layne we’re still alive! Three absolute legends right there!
Chris always reminded me of Sirius Black
so strange...
Matthew Mwangi
Or..... Sirius Black always reminded you of..... Chris!
Bum Bum Baaaaaaaaaah 😱
Other way around for me, but yes! I always think this too, every time I see a picture of him in his younger days.
Me2 men he looks pretty much the same
Same bro :(
Kurt loved Soundgarden, pay some respect
tchaco lynma yes he did, was the reason he wanted to sign with Sub Pop

Yup
Soundgarden is so much better then nirvana dude
@@alessandrobenedetti7114 nah... Nirvana had better songs
I'm not saying that saying "Chris Cornell and Soundgarden" is OK but saying "saying 'Chris Cornell and Soundgarden' is like saying "me and myself"" is like saying "I don't 'get' Soundgarden because I don't 'get' how Soundgarden was a BAND, in the truest sense, with 4 individual members who made valuable and worthy contributions, that made the whole band great and be more than just the sum of it's parts".

your parents must be proud.
It's early days were the mid to late eighties.
I love the way Chris would sing other groups' songs in the middle of his group's songs.
Rip Kurt and Chris miss both 😓
Suhail Couto Me too ;(
Suhail Couto don't forget scott weiland of stp
William Ruvalcaba and layne Staley

I love both Kurt and Chris's sense of humor. lmao
So I've seen footage of Kurt singing outshined, and now Chris singing Teen Spirit... it was meant to be. R.I.P. Chris and Kurt!
I wonder if Ben has back issues now? He always played his bass on the floor lolol
Hah! No joke, his back has to be aching now.
That's what I was thinking. What an idiot. lol
He looks like a goblin
Well, I guess if Krist (Novoselic, from Nirvana) doesn't, neither should he?

I love how he messes up with lyrics here. The thing is, when the song came out nobody could understand a fuckin word Kurt was singing. So I guess this here is what Chris have figured out of the lyrics.

Of course, 12 years older than me. What I mean is that he did recover his voices after rehab. His voice was very masculine and nice to hear when he talked.
Jo Gonzalez Yes, you're right.
His voice was not powerful like in the 90's but it's normal. He was human after all. It sounded much more mature, no doubt.
@Manu Redrum that's not true!
0:10 - 0:25 is fucking hilarious
don't forget to take your shoes off first
It's sad that this kind of thing wouldn't even be allowed nowadays.
Killer mashup. & they are just playing around. I love it!
I love how they planted songs within Slaves & Bulldozers
he must have loved it too because it was the last thing he did
last song they played in Detroit was "in my time of dying" woven into slaves and bulldozers
Spooky
Into the Void Sabbath was my fav
Roadhouse blues was my favorite. wish they did more Doors covers.
I love his sense of humor!
god he was so hot ..aged really well too..but I remember when soundgarden came out..loved them..Chris with that beautiful long curly hair gorgeous guy
Jennifer Stinebaugh Oh he aged like fine wine. Got better. Smoother. Deeper. I LOVED him.

If wasn't for nirvana there's a lot of bands that would not even got this opportunity that's the real legend of nirvana opening up the flood

7LeggedOctopusTV yeah and as far as I know they always put some short cover in that part
Awful.
so many people left the stadium without pants
Chris sounds better live than he does in the studio
R.I.p. two legends kurt and Chris
It's so funny to see how he sings "smells like teen spirit" so easily, almost without any kind of effort.
this made my quarantined day
The sexiest man that ever lived - Chris Cornell!
I guess I can call this Freestyling.. He could have sung "like a virging" lyrics from Madonna and the result would have been the same :D
CHRIS CORNELL DIDNT KNOW HE WAS GOING TO CURSE HIMSELF BY SINGING A NIRVANA SONG :( NOW HES UP IN HEAVEN WITH KURT COBAIN , GOD BLESS THEM BOTH
Nirvana and Soundgarden, yes!
I wonder if Ben knows he can pick up his bass from the floor 😂😂. This guy was really bent over half is height for what?
wow, i just knew it. and Soundgarden version is heavy
love Soundgarden style too 💙
Q.E.P.D. 1991 y 1992 hermosos años!!
HOW HAVE I NEVER SEEN THIS?!?
Curiously it was the ending song from the last Sound garden Concert.........
Outshined 🤘no one sings like you anymore
His daughter is awsome also🌍🌲💜🌹🌈🎸🌷🦋
That would have been cool to have heard them do an actual studio recorded cover of it, Chris's Slaves & Bulldozers vocals seem to compliment it well
Love when he said I'm with stupid

if smells like teen spirit was on bleach this would be a perfect live performance
