Surprised your elementary school even had XC, not to mention they had an elementary state meet lol. In my district we don’t even have cross country teams until middle school, and in middle school we only did meets with other schools in our district, no regional or state meet.
i’m the same age as you and i play soccer and run track, my only problem is that i don’t feel like i’m putting in the extra effort to improve. im fit, but definitley not at the top of my teams. watching your videos has inspired me so much to try harder and that in order to succeed i need to do more work outside of practices. i just wanted to say thank you, Evan, for inspiring me to be better!
This really inspires me as a runner in 8th grade who had a PR of 12:17.3 in the 2 mile last year for 7th grade. I hope to get in the 11 minute range and get top 15 at the state championships this year. It's really cool to see your progerss overtime those times were crazy fast.
I wish I had cross country at elementary school, I didn't find cross country until after covid in middle school, when I was really unfit. So now, here I am in highschool being slow and in reality can't catch up to the fast people. But I still do it because I love running even if I get close to last in cross country meets or near last in track meets. My PR in mile right now in track is 7:49 and 2 mile in cross country is 16:31. I started off with a 10 minute mile and over 24 mins for two mile so I have progressed but I don't think I can get that fast. These videos are an inspo though for improving even though I can't improve at the scale you do. Good luck with your future races!
This is honestly inspirational and relatable. Last year when I started running during xc season, I was the slowest runner our team and my 2 mile time was like 17 minutes or something. This year was a totally different story though. I went from being the slowest to the 5th fastest kid on our team. Not only that, but my 2 mile time went from 17 to 11:47.
this is quite impressive. If that was your first race, it was pretty fast in my standards. I also experience being the slowest runner, and in fact, I finished my first 3k in 6'20 pace. Keep working hard sir
I don't know if you still go to Hardin Valley but you guys did amazing at state this year. This was my first XC season, and going to state is such a big thing. Funny how I found this video as I go to heritage(rolled compared to Hardin Valley).
I train 2 times a day everyday as an XC runner for varsity, this helped me realize how far I have gotten and how far I have to go, you got a strong mindset I started just like you, you were actually faster than me by 4th grade Right now my 5k is 17:59 my 4k - 14:10
your great runner I started running in 7th grade and when you where in 5th grade your running my time in 8th grade im doing my first 5k in a few days. in new york there is no cross country school teams sadly.
A reminder to all the people who are wondering about the time fluctuations: everyone has good days and bad days, and it is also a combination of the various different courses, conditions, circumstances, etc.
I’m one year older and only decided to join xc this year, it’s pretty damn difficult. 2 more seasons and I can get my times down! Congrats man, that’s big.
Damn bro, wild to think that we were running together all these years and it's wild to see the improvement. Good editing, we ain't gon talk about the capcut watermark. You deserved the title in October.
im a new runner now 5th grade is my first year of middle school i ended it off in sectionals at 15.12 for 2 mile but my first year is over and cant wait for the next year
Only regret I have about joining cross country is not joining sooner. I had literally nothing to do between fall of 7th grade and spring of 8th grade, when I joined track. If I had joined our cross team earlier, I could’ve been so much better, not just barely missing out on the last varsity spot every year
I did cross country in 7th and 8th grade but didnt really take it too seriously since i was kind of forced to by my parents, and then didnt really pick up running again until college. There's a limit to how good I'll be able to get compared to everyone else my age since I'm already basically fully grown, but you took advantage of growing while you could, which will pay dividends later. You have a bright future ahead of you keep grinding!!! I bet that you could run for a D1 college if you keep it up.
This kind of reminds me of my xc improvement journey in 8th grand (I started in 5th but I don’t remember what I was running) I had a pr of 13:30 then in high school it seemed I was just going to be another one of the slow guys on my team with a first freshman time of 21:59 then each and every meet I got faster and ended the NLLs with an 18:29 this year I brought it down to 17:13 next year I hope to make varsity and reach the 16s
Tldw: have a strong support system that puts you into a program at a young age, so by the time you're nearing adulthood, you already have 10+ years of experience on everyone who is just getting into the activity
Looks like i have comp here ;) I run a 4:43 Mile And 7:42 1.5 Mile And 10:21 2 Mile Hey keep up the work and i will too, maybe we see each other if we both go pro ;) Also Im 8th grade rn
I don't care about running cause I dont wanna destroy my knees but in like middle school I probably did atleast 10-25 miles straight during a "walk-a-thon" for some reason. 2 to 3 laps around is like 1 mile and I did around 60 or more
My XC didn't start till 7th grade. Here's what I've gotten 1st meet- 1.3 Miles - 9th - 11:48 2nd meet- 1.15 Miles - 25th :( - 7:14 3rd meet- 1.7 Miles- 10th - 11:40 4th meet- 1.5 Miles - 7th - 10:01 I am 2nd best on my team, the other kid has gotten 1st, 6th, and 2nd. (Didn't go to the 4th meet.) We still have one more meet. I hope I do well!
I forgot to take out the capcut watermark at the end 😭
nah
:) insane vid
You can take it out in the TH-cam editor if you want, but keep it for the jokes :)

1:17 moving to a whole other school for 5th grade cross county is wild 💀
it's what he was very passionate about to I dont see why he wouldnt at the time
That's just what I did 2 years ago in 6th
Why u acting like if u could do any better
Ayy he got a lot better (mostly cause of the work he put in) but yeah it’s not that deep in 5th grade
That’s probably not the only reason idiot

thats great! i was the exact same but i put in the work, i went from 9 minute miles to 5 minute miles from 5-8th grade
@@corrvvette sounds a bit rude ngl but I get ur point. But saying " but i put in the work" implies that he didnt.
Respect to the coach for believing in you. Makes me happy and reminds me when I was in little league soccer.
You leveled up from 3rd to 5th grade by a LOT! Incredible job coming to where you are today and not letting the setbacks stop you!
