All very interesting, with the DC 3 comparison. You picked up some very interesting ideas there, too. My hats off to you all and be safe always, from the Philippines.
Once the cockpit is completed and cleaned up it will be a gem and work of art. I am tired of hearing that Elvis never really owned this jet. It is well documented that he did and liked this one better as the interior was just how he wanted it. It was only a brief period but he did and had another owner until it was abandoned.
Well, I only got out on Tuesday and missed the Elvisjet, I hope it comes back next year. I've been gawking at the Fabulous Flamingo for a few years now and would've loved to see them both together!
Everytime I see the finished Elvis Jet, I am SO impressed at how well it turned out in the looks department. Following through the build, I had no idea it would look that great.
There was a black and blue DC-3 named Snoopy back in the early 1980s out in California. The owner gave me a little tour at the Point Magu Airshow. Awesome!!
My brother installed vortex generators at the rear of his motor home and got improved mileage and crosswind stability. The difference on the interstate around big trucks was amazing. They help to lessen the low pressure area at the large flat rear of the vehicle.
If I recall correctly there was a airplane RV build that was on the TV show "That's Incredible" during the 1980s. It may have also made an appearance on "CHiPs" or a movie during the same period.

I remember seeing a video of Ellie's jet from years ago when it was still an abandoned plane in the Western desert. They did a walk through and it looks as I recall, just no wing tip tanks now.
Jimmy built the luxury version and it looks so good And the first sergeant built what the rest of us would The very budget version and it is so good 👍👍🇦🇺
i watched the Elvis jet build from the beginning, and kept thinking its too high, centre of gravity will make this handle like a pig, i kept thinking it be better to base the chassis into the lower compartment so it fitted neatly under the cabin floor, so the sides of the fuselage would kind of hide the chassis - and i also kept thinking, i wonder if Elvis would approve but i am satisfied to be proven wrong, the weight was close to the original RV spec, and the handling on the road seemed to go fine once you get used to it, like anything new you get into - the over all look is pretty crazy, very clean, and you know what, i reckon Elvis would love the craziness, i honestly don't think he'd be mad at someone cutting his plane up to use on the road and i'm sure he'd share the price tag pretty bonkers, both planes, very individual, priceless works of mad art
🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂I like what they did with the engine cowling on the DC-3, the Elvis one, looks a little empty under the cockpit. Do you still have the engine cowlings? Maybe tuck both underneath, to each side and a splitter moulding them and bottom of the cockpit together🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂

I got to check out Jimmy's Elvis Jet in Peoria myself... 😉 My video of seeing it on my little TH-cam channel.
I think Jimmy's Elvis Jet is much nicer! It looks tons better with lots of shiny polished steel (or chrome) and its a better colour scheme. It also looks better on the inside. So no worries Jimmy, there's no competition!
Imagine being the owner of the DC3 bus, spending years of work and hard earned money only to read this brain dead comment. Jimmy has a shit ton of money frim the start from youtube views. The Flamingo was built off hard work and love over years of dedication. Get out of here.
I see in the Elvis Jet that the control yokes were at the same angle - I wonder if they're still interconected, given that the left one is now steering for the RV?
19:08 who came up with that? my next-door neighbor doesn’t have one in her home because she’s afraid of microwaves. Now I’m wondering which is weirder, mandating one or being afraid of microwave
That is cooler than the Elvis Model. Still would never drive either one. Fly them like before sure thing but now looks like a deathtube on wheels. I know ironically it is waaaay safer than an actual motorhome that will fold up in a windstorm but anyway... both are pretty innovative. Props for that. No pun intended.
Need to get some 1202 diesel that's the best for a diesel engines. You'll have to order it through a Canadian company or one of the racing fuel companies

But nobody was interested. That's right. Gino is a great guy. This was a great video to see him on video. We could use more of him in the Air Force.
The DC 3 owner was nice enough to enough to give me a tour at EAA last year. It an amazing motor home.
With the heat last year, it felt amazing getting in the A/C too!
I am so glad you enjoyed
They're both fantastic.......very different but genial conversions. Thankyou 👍✌️🇬🇧

I saw that DC-3 driving down I-88 near Naperville last year or the year before. Pretty awesome.
It must be wild to see, either one cruising down the highway.

I think Elvis jet working pretty damn good on a RV frame small engine.
such an American thing to do ! - wonderful !! :)
Pretty cool on both...i cant imagine the budget that went into either one
I’ve seen the dc3 in person in traffic that thing is huge
The DC looks like a shed inside, the Jet nice and original
25:28 Jimmy, I like the 7700 code on the transponder. On the return trip, go with 7500. 👍

So the Elvis jet gets 11.5 mpg vs 7-10 mpg on the DC-3.
Maybe they should race…? 😎
Thoughts?
The DC-3 chassis needs a lot of reinforcing to stop it flexing. Box the rails and put in a big X brace.

I like the engine Cowl grill on the DC makes it look finished but elvis jet hands down

Technically I think it is a interesting achievement. Just as for finishing and design, there is a lot to learn about working clean guys.
