Welcome to my channel!
My name is Joshua Ryan Blair and I started flying my sophomore year in high-school when I was 16. Shortly after my 17th birthday, I passed my private pilots check-ride and received my private pilots license (2002).
With the increase in tech over the past few years, including action cameras, drones, and the desire to get epic footage, there has never been a greater time to really drive home the importance of intentional safety in flight. I want to be an advocate for adventure and safety, together. By supporting a culture of safety in the general aviation community, I believe we can continue to get the most out of each flight while also minimizing the risks of fatalities.

On February 2, 2021, about 1645 eastern daylight time, a Piper PA-46-350P, N221ST, was substantially damaged when it was involved in an accident near Leicester, Massachusetts. The commercial pilot and two passengers received minor injuries. The airplane was operated as a Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations Part 91 personal flight. The pilot reported that the airplane was on approach to runway 11 at Worcester Regional Airport (ORH), Worcester, Massachusetts. During that time, “a little ice” began to build up on the wings and he activated the deicing system (boots) twice upon entering clouds. The elevator then began to shake and become ineffective. In an effort to avoid a stall, the pilot applied forward yoke control and the airplane contacted a tree and came to rest upright in the front yard of a residence about 3 miles from the runway 11 threshold.
Was this a PA-46 in the video? I didn’t take note of the N number…
@@Blaircraft.Engines Yes, and I got the accident report off Kathryn's Report. They are lucky to be alive.
BAS for sure has the most reasonably priced used parts.
For sure. They have competitive pricing, not good to just sit on parts!
Thank you.
you must do a radiation check on all analog aircraft instruments, even if they dont glow the radiation could be high, but the phosphors etc have aged and dont glow. Use a real geiger counter. I met a person who had aircraft parts and broken 50s/60s WW2 dials on his bench, he had no idea that his bench was so hot it needed decontamination and sadly he had terminal stomach cancer probably from ingesting particles. He went white with shick when I took out my portable geiger he had no idea.
Interesting. Haven’t thought of that before. They don’t have a lot of WW2 items, however they might have some. But then they scrap the junk, probably not selling broken instruments at all.
That whiney music can give you a headache. Trying to watch this with the sound off.
Yeah, I’ve chosen better… 😂 Apparently I thought it was ok 3 years ago starting out! At least I turned the gain down when I did the voice over. I still think the ending is better. 😁
Do they have logbooks for all of those?
Not sure about the Missouri location, but they do have logs for several at this boneyard.
Do you have an webpage ? I look for an fuel servo!
The website information is in the description too www.baspartsales.com
@@Blaircraft.Engines Thanks for your reply! I sent an e-mail.
Wow the fusalage cockpits would make my bed, simulator or coffine!😮lol And please no disasemble number 5 still alive! And do not tell your aircraft you have to take it to the A.M.E.! It might grow wings and fly! Thats like draging your dog to the vet!!!! Great place thanks for sharing....
Matt will take care of you! 😁 Call him up.
PEÇAS BÔAS 👍👍 🇧🇷
I had thought White industries was the largest. But now I see you bought them out. No wonder you're the biggest now.
Yes… Matt mentioned white industries had 1900 fuselages!
Save big bugs by buying somebody else's miscalculation.
Might suggest a good viable Cessna 140 for your Oshkosh venture.
They did have plenty of the 140s, that’d good size to work with. Thanks for the suggestion. 👍
Wow! A very impressive operation!
Agreed!
That would be funnest job in the world
Agreed, I wish I lived closer!
Very kool bro I need two 737 wings
I would spend all day searching tail numbers, reading about the aircraft and accidents or the last time they were in service.
You briefly touched on folks wanting parts for wall hangings and other non-flying purposes. I would be one of those people. But I wouldn't want to pay the 'aviation industry' price for something that no longer needs to meet aerospace standards. I wouldn't imagine a place like this would want to 'waste' very much time or space on parts that could no longer be used on an airplane (but still looked presentable). I'd like to learn more detail about what they have to offer pertaining to my kind of interest.
I’ll let Clint know and have him give you some feedback on this. Thanks for the comment!
@@Blaircraft.Engines Awesome, thank you I appreciate it!
great vídeo
Thanks!
Went to White Industries years ago. Bought a set of rudder Peddles with toe brakes for a Cherokee 140. They packaged them up & flew back home. It was a great place to deal with.
Where is located this please?
Greeley, Colorado
@@Blaircraft.Engines thanks my friend
What was the reason for the tape
That is a great well organized bone yard. Cuttios to the team for logging, tracking and putting parts where they can be accessed easily. I have been down that road before in the aerospace industry and refurbishing 40's and 50's tube radios. John a RC MODEL aircraft builder and flyer in Hayden Idaho. Home of the pappy boyington air museum. Great video.
All the game sim guys want to buy a front half cockpit!😂👍
They have plenty to choose from! 😁
Wow. What an amazing place. I can appreciate it in a couple of ways. (1) I am a retired warehouse manager, and also worked in a aircraft (new) spares warehouse, when I was part of the team rebuilding old airliners ( Vickers VC-10) into Royal Air Force military tanker aircraft, they had been sat on the ground for over 10 years as retired airliners, until conversion into tanker aircraft, so I can well appreciate the start to finish from a wrecked aircraft coming in the front door to the strip down and associated documentation to the spares going out the warehouse door to a new owner. I am also as my wife says an aircraft "freak" I have been for 50 years and she isn't changing that.
❤
My favorite place!
Me bad... Glad you know what you are doing! Thanks for the response and doing the important business that you guys do.
" All you have to do is put it together" LOL
I recommend a 335 rather than a 340. The pressurization adds more complexity than needed. I had a 335 for years after my 310R. Loved it.
I’ll check them out more, thanks!
Message me if you want to discuss details. They only made them in 1980. There are a few different variations

Buying junk and selling it as serviceable can get you jail time! Even if you claim that is not what you are doing! www.justice.gov/usao-sdfl/pr/two-florida-residents-plead-guilty-conspiring-sell-and-export-aircraft-parts Don't buy recovered parts from a salvage yard unless they have a service tag issued by an FAA approved repair station. I live in Odessa Mo. I drive past your outfit all the time. I’ve also seen the operation on Jimmy’s World.
Are you going to make it to Oshkosh? Jimmy will be doing a meet and greet on Monday at the BAS tent..
Who buys all the aluminum? That's not serviceable anymore
That Malibu isn’t for sure, mostly smaller parts of that one.
All I can say is wow
Where is this place?
Greeley, Colorado. Their yard in Missouri is even bigger. I’ll add more of their information in the description as well. Thanks for asking!
This shop is located, on the field in Greeley, Colorado. (GXY). They have been there since I can remember. The name of the shop wasn’t even mentioned, which I think is pretty damn rude, considering they gave you hours of their time for your interview. They are affectionately known as “ Begals”, on the field. I have been hangared out there for about 45 years now. Nice folks.
I wonder how they certificate the parts. Obviously the history of the part is known. But then it needs an form 8130 or easa form 1 . In Europa a crashed plane means crashed parts. Those parts must be certified by a overhaul company etc etc
That’s what I was wondering.
Not sure exactly how they inspect and tag parts, it's a great question. I'll have to ask Matt more about any tags/forms. However, they offer a 90 parts guarantee. Thanks for asking!
Great question, I'll have to ask more about that. However like I just mentioned in the previous comment they offer a 90 parts guarantee, which is pretty awesome!

You can self certify parts as a mechanic. Good thing this isn’t Europe
Neat video. Glad that they gave you that kind of access but you could have put the location in the description. I have never heard of them until now. Thanks!
Yes. I should have. I’ll add more of their information in the description. Thanks! 👍
Well... I am not seeing tags on the "wrecked parts" on your shelf... Just sayin! Tag the Sh%t!!!!!
I thought everything on the shelf had tags, what parts did you see without any? The first room of parts were waiting to be tagged.
That boneyard is sad, and beautiful at the same time.
Nice video, I’m definitely gonna have to check these guys out next time I need a part.
Awesome group there and facility. 👍
Very Nice Video Sir Cheers 👍👍😇😇🙏🙏🍻🍻

It would be a great choice. I believe they’re available now.

Thanks for this video. I have the same Cleveland brakes on my Clipper. I will be putting on the same Aero Classic tires as you have but on Alaska Bushwheel wheel hubs. Going with the Baby Bushwheel tail wheel Assembly.
Very nice. Clippers are great. 👊
Yup, you are so right about that old airplane smell.
Will you have two fuel lines from the right fuel tank? Also a Maule fuel selector in order to comply with the fuel selector AD?
Great question. My clipper actually had provisions for the right hand fuel tank, but only had one line for it. I believe for the time being, unless I change my mind after Oshkosh. I will leave it with just one line, I will make sure that I placard left-hand takeoff, landing or both tanks. I do have the Maule fuel selector that I will be installing.
@@Blaircraft.Engines I actually took off with the right tank select and found out the hard way what the placard meant. My placard was not written correctly. Fortunately I got the plane safely back on the runway. My clipper, I believe actually came from the factory with wing tanks, as it was towards the end of the production line.
