John - thx much for these AAR analysis reports. They really have provided (at least for myself) a good overview of how the game comes together. I have also been following your game on ACTS. A bit of an obscure question here, but I'm wondering how you were able to place the American LR AF at Cairns a few turns back? When I was replaying your reinforcements phase during that time, I did not see Cairns within any HQ range (i.e. in range of an HQ that had been on the map from the beginning of the turn of reinforcement).
Dante - Glad you find the videos helpful. You are totally correct; 5AF LRB should have gone to Townsville with SWPac, which had also just come on. That's the same R&R where the log says the 10AF LRB goes to the China box, but somehow it ended up at Noumea in my Vassal file!
+John Steidl Very helpful - thanks again for the vids! I really did rack my brain with the rules trying to figure out how you placed the LRB. 0.0 heh. So thx for the confirmation. But placing the reinforcement with the HQ makes sense as the HQ will provide control/supply for the hex it's placed in (but nowhere else). Another one of your game plays that really bent my brain out of shape (but turned out to be legal) was the use of air support for one of the battle hexes you declared, but the air support did not trigger a -2 DRM for the Intelligence roll. Why? Well as I finally discovered (in a PLAY NOTE of all places) air units ALREADY in a ZOI and which do not move, do not count as tripping the defensive ZOI for the -2 DRM, even though they might be 2 or even 3 hexes away. Go figure. I guess enemy intelligence just doesn't have enough time to prepare once the operation is already under way for air assets that never moved...
