I think the bead blasting on the Laco makes for a nice long term patina, as it selectively tarnishes and wears off.

Both are very nice but Laco has the authentic aesthetics...the lugs and case specifically.

Fully agree - its the Laco for me.

that's why it's so ugly. the sweet spot for flieger watches nowadays is the mix of a historic design with a touch of dressiness and wearability

Sweet spot is a 1/1 copy in what ever size one likes. If not, it’s basically just an oldschool dial in a modern watch.

@@Wolf_K can't agree more - really don't get, how people are attractet to fliegers with generic modern cases and oldschool dials.
Wish a brand like laco would also go 'authentic' with the movement -> something from a pocketwatch

That’s what the demand is so the suppliers deliver. The modern era has pretty poor aesthetic values in my opinion.

From what I have read and seen anyway, the Laco "Original" series's watch cases has a similar design to the flieger watches made in the 1940s, while their cheaper "Basic" line (and some manufacturers) uses a watch case of more contemporary design. So if you care about historical accuracy then the Orignal is probably the one to get, but of course, the Original has the bigger price tag to go with it as well.

I chose the Stowa but with a hand wind movement. Lovely watch. I may get a Laco too, not sure yet.

Both very nice watches. I think you get a nicer movement with the Stowa, which is an ETA 2824 in TOP grade... it's slightly more accurate as a result. The hand winding models of Stowa Fliegers are very good too...I have an A-dial Stowa Flieger with the 2804 handwinding movement and it runs about +3 seconds day. The Laco is very cool, though, it really looks like a purposeful tool watch, absolutely no nonsense about it at all.

I find the Laco case look more like a original flieger, while the Stowa case here looks more like from a Seiko 5 or any other modern watch. Small welded on stubs on the side of the cage for the mounting is a nice authentic touch in my eyes

I owned the Paderborn; a very nice watch but the straight lugs drove me crazy on my wrist.

  • @pio3_1970
    @pio3_1970 3 ปีที่แล้ว

I think you should point out that you also have a 39mm case from Laco. Beside that, talking about hand winding movement (I'd chose this kind of movement to respect at least the original ones), they have different heights. Laco is 12. Stowa 10... so the overall cases look different.

When discussing Flieger watches make sure know the history of these watches like with the ref.number FL23883. This is not just any reference number but a very specific one.

  • @lupo1185

Doing a comparison, I think it would have made sense to show them on the original lugs - but still, really helpfull.
I'm in for the Laco as it is the authentic one.
Anybody knows another authentic-one like the Laco?

B dial, get the Laco. Way too cramped of a design for a dress watch 40mm size.
A dial, get a Archimede. German manufactured instead of only assembled like a Stowa, and even in Ti form is less expensive.
