    I bought a spring drive version. It was one of the the greatest moments of my life as I saved 10 years to buy that watch. I flew from Amsterdam to London and took a coffee after 3 hours went back. Now I can do a little research and hopefully find out what what she is worth.

      Great, that will bring in some cash. I used to be a collector, but I sold my collection to invest in real estate. In January, I acquired homes in Malibu for $45 million, and the returns on this investment have far exceeded what I earned as a collector.

      How did you grow your portfolio to $45m, I'm impressed, I have a lump sum in the bank, the rates are not impressive so I'm moving it, what's your cash flow like?

      I have a financial advisor (trader) she grows my liquid assets and I reinvest the weekly payouts back into real estate and long-term ETFs.

    It's a compelling piece but the price is cause for pause.

      Not taking resale value into consideration, would you buy a SS Daytona for the same?

      If it really is a compelling piece, why would price be the cause for pause!

    I'm in the UK 🇬🇧 and I bought this watch for my collection...
    I personally like it. The indices sparkle like diamonds in the Sunshine, against the vibrant blue dial. When indoors, the dial goes to dark blue/black like with a nice contrast against the hour/minute hands. The dial has lume as well.
    Power reserve is good, and keeps going even with Chronograph running.
    Joined the GS9 Club in UK from Grand Seiko and get gifts through the post now and then, which is a nice touch.
    But my watch runs 8-10 seconds fast each day... outside of specification which is disappointing. The clasp rattles when resting wrist on armchair.
    I think the reason Grand Seiko don't offer micro adjust, is so you buy more watches. Wrist temperature changes during seasons... they have different watches for different seasons.
    Anyways, would I buy my Tentagraph again... yes I would.
    It makes a nice change from my Rolex, Omega, Cartier, standard brands... it's got character, and that's important not always to be machine perfect.

      A hear a lot of accuracy issues with the new high beat movement (9SA5). Back in 2023 i was debating between getting the black birch or the lake suwa at dawn. I only had the budget for 1 and glad i picked the spring drive over the high beat. 9RA2 is such an accurate beast. Mine ran a whole month and only lost 0.5 seconds.
      Admittedly the 9SA5 movement is prettier to look at.
      Enjoy your watch collection 🤗

      @JustMeTalking 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @ryangochuico Same here, I also bought the Grand Seiko "Snowflake" Spring Drive and its absolutely accurate.
      I love wearing the Snowflake as it's so light it disappears on the wrist. Sweeping second hand is a treat.
      My next most accurate mechanical watch is my Rolex GMT Master 2 "Rootbeer" which varies up to -2 seconds a day. But is fairly accurate.

    • @mendipfox1650
      @mendipfox1650 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Blimey! That daily deviation is nuts for a high beat. The whole point of high beat being accuracy. That is disappointing to say the least for a £12,500 watch. I have an Omega 9900 calibre. It’s accurate to about +0.5 seconds a day for comparison. 😕

    • @JustMeTalking
      @JustMeTalking 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @mendipfox1650 Indeed... I have two Omega Master Chronometers.
      Seamaster 300 Chronograph (9900 caliber)
      Speedmaster Moonphase (9904 caliber)
      Both are fast by up to 2 seconds per day, but vary depending on stored orientation. I consider that good and within METAS / COSC.

    • @JustMeTalking
      @JustMeTalking 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @mendipfox1650 High beat watches are weird. You could argue any Chronograph that isn't 5 Hz... is inaccurate. The whole point of a Chronograph is it has a stop watch feature. If it can't beat at 10 vibrations per second... how can it be accurate?
      That's why I bought the Tentagraph. It is accurate for a Chronograph. The other option being a Zenith El Primero.

    I like the review but you’re just speculating on why GS doesn’t make a micro adjust bracelet. The fact is they have released toolless micro adjust on one or two of their pieces, which means they certainly know of reasons as to why they SHOULD include micro adjust.

    • @ryangochuico
      @ryangochuico 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The Seiko Astron Nexter (sbxy061) that i bought last year has a microadjust hidden under the clasp thats worth about a link of adjustment. All you have to do is depress the two pushers and the extra link under the clasp can slide in or out as needed. GS can absolutely use this kind of adjustment on their watches. I wish they would.

  • @AnotherDaveInParadise
    @AnotherDaveInParadise 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Pin and collar links on the bracelet, the same as a £500 Seiko Speedtimer. They really need to up their bracelet game, as Rolex, Tudor, Cartier and Omega are streets ahead.

    Hey Kat and Zach, love your reviews and approachable style. I like chronographs and while this has the soul of the stellar 9SA5, it’s my understanding that this is a modular chrono with the column wheel and clutch arrangement set on the dial side. This in itself isn’t the problem, it’s the actuation of the minutes and hour subdials that do not synch in quite the same, mechanical manner that one sees from an integrated arrangement from such as a 7750 to a Rolex 4130 or its newer models. Maybe it’s me cause I need to relax about all this…lol. I do love the delicate Iwate dial pattern and high precision of the parts and heart of what this does deliver. Thanks for doing such a great job and always a pleasure to get excited when a timepiece can display art and science.

    love it! but for my money, I'd just get a Mt Iwate GMT and a Chronomaster Sport pre owned. Best of both worlds and a killer rotation

    I own a Grand Seiko and am a fan of the brand. However, I do disagree with Zach's opinion on Grand Seiko's bracelets. GS can make a world class bracelet. However, there is no excuse for GS holding back, and not doing so. IMO, it holds GS back from growing to the next summit in the watch making industry. Fans like myself are asking "why not"!

    I chose the GS Evo 9 Spring Drive Chrono over this for the greater accuracy and the additional GMT functionality. Just got it a couple days ago.

    At £12500 in the UK it’s £5000 more than a Speedmaster sapphire sandwich so won’t be a big seller. Lovely watch, great finish, but no way does it justify the price.

    "...the whole point is to show off these dramatic facets and you do that with case height." mmmmm, bulgari and AP would beg to differ. I think you guys give GS too much grace. Coming from a GS owner and fanboy.

    There is too much justifying bad choices e.g thickness, micro adjust to charge such an amount and it’s weird that Zack just blows over them like it’s nothing major.

    I love this watch, I will buy it when I see it for £7,000 new in the UK. £12,500 is a stupid price. It’s common to see 30% discounts on GS now, so a little more to go, but I am confident. 😊

  • @syktgrei
    @syktgrei 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I’m sure they’re making a conscious decision to make this watch really thick and without micro adjustments. But that excuse doesn’t really matter, if those decisions lead a lot of people to the conscious decision to not buy this watch.

    I cannot get bloody Seiko to point me to a repair shop. I have had two 5s for 30 years but the last has had 5 " new " springs but Seiko seems disinclined to allow me to have a Seiko branded spring. Rotten service!
