The Diary Is Why SCARFACE IS WIDELY CONSIDERED AS ONE OF THE GREATEST LYRICISTS IN HIP HOP HISTORY REASONS WHY HE IS FEATURED ON SO MANY GREATEST RAPPERS OF ALL TIME LISTS
I feel like Xennials/millennials are the ones who appreciate the early to mid 90s era more. We were all in either Elementary, Jr High or high school at the time. Gen-X are the ones that only prefer the mid to late eighties, while young millennials only remembers the weaker late 90s and early 00s.
Will always be my all time favorite year of Hip Hop when you get a debut album class of Nas, Outkast, Biggie, Method Man, Da Brat and Warren G. It has to be up there
94 was the best year for hip hop in the 90s for me. But 1995 was the best year in overall music that decade. What a spectacular year that was. It’s like the 90s peaked that year. 1993 was a very close second.

@@TheBamaPrinceable for both hip hop and r&b not just hip hop. The entire year delivered. Also some very good house music in that year as well. Probably the best house song in the 90s came out that year.
We also had the LEGENDARY M.O.P. with TO THE DEATH album powered by ,how about some hardcore, rugged neva smooth,blue steel ,drama lord ,guns and roses ,that album most like influenced,MOBB DEEP,CNN ,THE LOX and G UNIT with that gritty Street talk! 💯
This was the year my mom moved all of us in the family including I as my Lil Bad Ass straight outta Philadelphia to the Montgomery County Suburbs, so yes it was the 2nd best year to be a kid 30 years ago then & now.

@@dredocs 96 and 97 come close but the Above The Rim Soundtrack was also in 94 (the greatest hip-hop/R&B Soundtrack EVER) and it can't be understated how much of an long-term impact Illmatic and The Diary had on the landscape of hip-hop...Nas and Scarface are THE PINNACLE of the craft and those are their most critically-acclaimed projects....gimme 94 all day!
