Thank you to Withings for sponsoring this video and sending me one of their awesome BPM Connect Blood Pressure Cuffs.
I am partnering with Withings to celebrate #worldheartday and make a heart health promise!
As a medical student in the ER, I see hundreds of patients affected by not only hypertension but the disease processes caused by the condition. High blood pressure increases your risk for many fatal diseases. It is important to set a good example for our patients and I think keeping track of blood pressures at home can be key for many patients! Not only can this help track if medication is being appropriately dosed, it also promotes getting involved in your own healthcare! Medicine is teamwork and if the patients don’t participate it’s hard to achieve the best outcome.
Devices like the BPM Connect allow patients to easily track their Blood Pressure at home with a comfortable device. All readings are tracked in their smartphone can even be forwarded to their physician!
    Thanks for Watching!

Thank you for this video. I have out of control blood pressure. I’ve been on bp meds for a few years now. But I’ve always been afraid to take my own bp at home. I just didn’t want to know. But after having a few episodes I realized it’s time to start.. So I did purchase this cuff for all the reasons you explained today. I also still don’t fully understand how to read result. But thankfully this device explains it in a simpler form. Thank you for reviewing this device and approving of it. Keep up the great videos!

Thanks for checking our review out! We absolutely love our BPM Connect. We hope you continue to stay motivated and healthy! It can be nerve wracking at first but seeing your progress over time can all be helpful. Just try not to obsess over it!

The Med Life, Thank you very much! I’m definitely starting to obsess over my health! I just got my connect yesterday so I’m still trying to figure out how to get the best readings. But you are right it can be very nerve wracking and I’m trying not to obsess.. I’m so happy to have it automatically log all the information on my phone. It will make it so much easier for my doctor and I to go threw it on my upcoming visit. Thank you again for a great review. It means a lot to people like myself.

It would have been nice if you compared it with a manual blood pressure to check for accuracy. Most care about the accuracy vs the technology. I came here hoping to get an answer on accuracy. Thanks, for the other info on the device though.

This specific device really helped me. I was suffering from low blood pressure, but couldn't prove it because of white coat. And when you're female, a doctor's first impulse is to call everything "anxiety" or "period woes". It would be 120/80 in the doctor's office, but 90/55 at home. Doctor FINALLY took it seriously after seeing the logs and helped narrow down the cause (turned out to be low salt/dehydration).

Hey buddy, I have been enjoying your brand of videos and I have become a convert of the WITHINGS label. I am currently a stage 2 cancer patient who is about 6 months post OP from a gastric resection due to the fact that my stomach lining was increasingly becoming thinner due to the amount of tumors that needed to be removed. My team and I decided on a gastric resection as a pose to chemotherapy. Since my surgery I have had regular video conferencing to keep watch on my recovery and weight loss. I initially did research and purchased a WITHINGS smart scale.... THE BODY CARDIO MODEL and I was hooked. Now I'm eyeing the WITHINGS smartwatch and the smart thermometer. What is your take on these various items?

As a software developer in healthcare, I firmly believe in patient data and synchronization to the healthcare provider's file. In the Netherlands, we are working on a personal health perception in which all data from healthcare providers and patients come together. The patient determines who can view his medical data. These types of devices contribute to the future of healthcare. Just a personal question: how does it work with multiple user accounts? I don't want my wife's blood pressure data in my app and vice versa.

Thanks for the informative video! I have 3 questions for ya!
    1. The position of the Withings bp connect really has a significant impact on the readings. I get the lowest reading when having the white bar closer to my rib cage, like more on the inner part of my bicep. Which actually is instructed by the manual I believe. I also tried to have it like you did on your video, straight in line with the bicep vein, that gives OK readings but not sure if inconsistent or just my pressure that varies. Any thought on positions?
    2. Some say the effect of caffeine lasts 1-2 hrs, thus should we not wait that time out before measuring?
    3. some say that with age our blood vessels will stiffen, but I believe there are studies that shows that Omega 3 fatty acids has a positive counteractive effect on that. Is that something you have come by in your medical society?

I have the Withings smart scales and the wearable BP device is on its way. I'm a very fit 51yo but every time I go to the Dr's my BP reading is high, I'm hoping by monitoring my BP at home will give me a more accurate average of my true BP. I'm also an RN and know the variables that can cause a high BP.

You press a button, wait a minute, get you result and it is stored.
It feels good being able to ignore one reading, but still having it record.

Usually* devices get more reliable overtime, as developers continue working out bugs.
*I say usually bc it depends on if the company has been rolling out updates for at least a couple years or more. I think Wirthings is pretty reliable in that regard. I have one of their old smart scales that is still getting updates/support and it’s not even listed as being for sale anymore

  • @ryangosling9960

I am not a tech savy person. I can figure things out to a degree but if it gets too complicated, my brain just shuts down and I don't want to deal with it. So does it require a cell phone to use? If you decide to sync it up to your phone, is it complicated. I hear the apps aren't that great. At least for Omron. Do I have to be near a wifi? Is it accurate?

    • @sarowie
      @sarowie ปีที่แล้ว +1

people are different. If you think Cell phone and Wifi sound to complicated, use a normal blood pressure monitor and write it down.
If you feel that this works for you - awesome. Your doctor does not mind reading a well kept log.
This device is for people to lazy to write or people that want to see charts on their phone.

  • @BencioW

Is it normal to have much higher blood pressure on my right arm? Can I monitor my BP on my right arm with that BP monitor?

    • @sarowie
      @sarowie ปีที่แล้ว

small differences are normal. "much higher" sounds like a problem - visit a doctor.
Yes, the BP can measure on both arms. It does not care.
It is generally recommended - but ask your doctor - to measure on the arm with the higher pressure.

The device is great but the software is a nightmare for android users who want to sync via BT.
I have the BPM connect now since march and already tested it with 4 different android devices (Galaxy Tab S2 with Android 7 from 2016, Moto G5 Plus with Android 8 from 2017, Pixel 4a with Android 11/12 from 2020 and Moto G60s with Android 11 from 2021).
On ALL devices the BT connection does not work properly. The best device where the sync works is the oldest! On the Galaxy Tab S2 it only needed in 4 weeks two re-configurations.
On the other devices I have to reconfigure it really often - sometimes daily!
I assume this is another device where the management puts a lot efford in PR and commercials - but heavily supports only the mobile system they use themselves (of course the crazy expensive iPhone) and couldnt care less about Android.
These companies should just stay in the Apple bubble. No one would bother. We understand that testing with many devices and android versions is expensive. You dont need to. But then DONT OFFER IT! Or at least write in the description that android users are ought to use WLAN and if they want to use BT... they just shouldnt buy it. Or you could just disable the BT option in the android software completely. But you dont. Just dont care unless you got sewed. This is such a bad habit in management. I know, I know... thats capitalism.
What a pity. And a shame.

10/3/2020 No mention was made if the unit monitors Irregular Heartbeat.
I currently use three different wrist monitors (one upstairs, 1 downstairs and the third in my glove box. All three are quite accurate, contrary to reviews to the contrary for wrist units. One is the Omron 7 Series (bluetooth) which charts the pressures on a graph and does averaging as well. The only thing that would make it perfect is if it were capable of sending the data to an email address/doctor.
As an android user, this Withings unit cannot work for me.
