I always had the theory that Magolor met up with Marx at one point and after learning of his failure decided to try his hand at it. He was closer to Kirby, likely believing that Kirby wouldn't be fooled twice unless he acted like a friend (which was more effort than he needed, Kirby thinks everyone is his friend) and probably thought once Landia was defeated, the universe was his since the Master Crown was much more powerful than a Nova. Unfortunately for Magolor, Kirby's that built different and beat him so hard the crown took over still got beat and sent Magolor to the shadow realm.

Well, there's 2 reasons you could say Magolor and Marx aren't traitors. Marx isn't a traitor, he's a trickster. He didn't try to pass off as a good guy, he just asked kirby to do something and Kirby did it. Magolor, on the other hand, likely was corrupted by the master crown. His tone shifts so dramatically when he comes into contact with the crown, it doesn't make sense for him to be just revealing his true colors. Magolor is a prankster, not a scheming, conniving criminal. Look at how he talks about upgrades in the Magolor epilogue. He doesn't speak of them like he's using them for inherent evil, he speaks of them like he's gonna use them to play jokes and stuff. And the master crown is sentient, it's powers are used by Void Termina, implying that the Crown's powers come from Void. Also, it corrupts a tree at the end of the epilogue. Instead of corrupting Magolor again, who was right there, it corrupts a tree. Why? Because trees can't fight back. Why choose a resistant, sentient being when you can choose a brainless, thoughtless plant that's more of an object than an organism. The crown itself is the villain, not Magolor. Magolor was just a prankster with a good heart. He builds 2 entire THEME PARKS for you. He wouldn't waste all that just to gain your trust when Kirby already trusted him. He clearly wants to have fun and let others have fun. Whether it's through building giant theme parks, or just some light hearted mischief.
Well, he wanted the crown before he even met Kirby, and he was struggling to keep control over the crown when he put it on, but he didn't get taken over until the second part of the fight. The reason he just wants to do pranks in the epilogue was because while he did use us, a part of him wanted to actually be friends, and when Kirby saved him from the crown, that's when he 100% wanted to be friends. And he built the amusement park because it was an apology to us, and because it was his lifelong dream to be a park manager way before any of the KRTDL shenanigans. So, he was normal before he found out about the ancient magical tools, then he had bad intentions when he found out about the crown, but once he actually got the crown, he realized how bad the thing actually was, and his redemption arc started, and now he's a mischievous good guy!

the most terrifying thing i find Haltmann is that he literally KICKED Humanity or what other people say the Ancients out of Earth; AKA Shiver Star. no one ever wonders where did any of the humans and/or Ancients went, they think they were killed from the hypothermic winter, they think they're killed by they're own machinery, but i think Haltmann stole some information from the machines that make them smile and kill in madness and pleasure. although he didn't kill a planet (like Giygas from Earthbound.) he kicked Humanity and such itself out of the planet to make it a type of object of his own, but much like the Bad Futures that Eggman made in Sonic CD, he left them to rot, work, and/or just kill itself from it's own madness and evil. but it all fails from a little pink baby that killed ELDRITCH GODS, Kirby.
I think that Marx and Magolor would be friends since they are very similar: They're nice & friendly to Kirby and tricked him into getting vast power, they have a second form that's monstrous and they're final bosses.

I feel like it makes sense Magolor and Marx are actual friends. After Marx got beat by Kirby, perhaps Marx told him about Popstar beforehand, and I guess that’s how Magolor landed in our favorite star shaped planet! Only to get his ass whooped
me and my buddy magolor
You're a fake
i have strep throat right now, and seeing the don upload just made my day. this is my new comfort youtuber
Mr Haltmann is basically Eggman
Magolor is like Marx because they both deceive Kirby into thinking that they are good guys
“Unless?”
The worst part about Holtmann is that he dies a horrible terrible gruesome death that keeps his soul alive just to torture him some more

I'm getting reminders of BEAM ATTACK! reading this comment lol
is.. is this persona music or am i tripping??
Honestly, I unironically love Marx and Magolor as a ship

The Haltmann point also adds some for Return to Dreamland, where the world Egg Engine is a whole Mechanized portion of Halcandra, complete with Metal General. My theory is that Haltmann corp landed on Halcandra somehow (maybe with the help of Star Dream's dimension opening thing) and started mechanizing everything, but was driven off by Landia
Not an actual relationship, just a friendship

How come they never showed Marx and Magolor collaboting in Return to dreamland? Did Sakurai disapprove?
I dunno. But maybe they're still in the foreshadowing phase for that part... :)
It's been theorized that all the Soul bosses are connected, or are represented, in some way by some sort of Soul energy.
Since only Soul bosses share similar attacks to Marx, it's likely that Marx's attacks aren't actually from Marx himself. But instead are attacks that he gained from the Soul energy that all Soul bosses have.
