    Tonex Capture changed the game for me. I'm a Tube Amp guy and I have a weird relationship with amp modelers. However, this technology has bridged the two concepts together for me and I share my experience with you. This is my first experience with an amp modeler and it's 2022! Tonex is the latest amp modeler software and hardware solution that brings guitar amp modeling to the masses. The guitar amp modeling software pairs with the Tonex Capture box or any reamping device you have to let you capture your amp and recall your favourite guitar tones any time you want. In this tonex capture review I share the process and my thoughts on this latest guitar amp technology. I compare the amp modeler vs real amp and share some tips to help you create some awesome tonex captures for yourself!

      Yeah I’ve got a pretty fast gaming computer and did the low res version. Took like 2 minutes. I just got it all and decided to just get the ball rolling by quickly cloning the channels on my Mesa TC50. Already impressed with that. So I can only imagine how advanced sounds! That’s my next step is to really take care in how I mic my amp next time and set up better isolation to cut back on reflections and really get a crisp capture. Considering what I got just tossing a couple mics in front of my amp though I’m pretty happy with it. I am kinda wondering what it’ll do if I ran a blend of amps though. IE two mics two amps.

    Thanks

    • @LonelyRocker
      @LonelyRocker  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey there! When doing your captures you can actually do whatever you want. Ideally, if you want to capture snapshots of how your amp actually sounds, set all the dials the way you need to to get your tone. EQ, presence, everything. The dials on the Tone Model don't emulate your amp. They just give you extra adjustment. So feel free to make your adjustments and capture the best tones possible. Hope this helps!!

    • @LonelyRocker
      @LonelyRocker  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      There is a diagram in the TONEX Capture Box Manual. Sometimes it's the routing with the interface that's an issue. I had problems with the Focusrite routing software. It can get confusing if its not working. Hard to diagnose from here but look at both the cabling and how the audio routing is set up in your interface. Good luck!

      I'm telling you, the Focusrite routing software is very confusing. I've had such trouble with it and others have said the same thing. As long as you are certain the Tonex Capture box is connected properly just cycle through the output presets in Focusrite Control. One of them should work. That's what I did. The line out/power out switch in case I am taking the signal from a reactive load box, should be treated as a line out output of the amp and set in power out or should I do it like you done in your setup by plugin the amp speaker out directly to the ToneX capture set as line out and from the tonex “to amp” connection i send it to my reactive load box?

    I have captured my amp and I want to save the file on my pc or on a flash drive, but it has been saved in Tonex as a tone model, not as a preset and I cannot export it. Could you tell me how I can export my own capture to my hard drive?
    I would also like to know if there is a difference in capturing in Advanced mode or in Default mode

    • @LonelyRocker
      @LonelyRocker  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi There. The presets only work within TONEX. I believe all of the presets exist within some kind of master file but are not available outside of the app. You can't use them anywhere else so a standalone file would be useless to you. You can move presets between the app and the pedal and share them on Tone.net. The differences between Advanced and Default are in the fine details. In some cases you may not be able to notice the differences but Advanced just renders a more detailed model. It takes longer to make but is the highest quality capture TONEX can do. Hope that helps!

      Oh man. That control software. It’s horrible! I stopped using the Focusrite for capturing because it was way too problematic. What I used to do was cycle through the presets until one worked. I think there was one called “direct” or something? It’s not hooked up right now so I can’t even check but that’s basically how I did it. • @LonelyRocker
      @LonelyRocker  ปีที่แล้ว

      When you feed a signal back to the amp it has to be passive and mimic the level of a guitar signal. So reamp boxes make it brainless. If your method works and you can control the level properly back to your amp, your good!

      @@LonelyRocker what you described a DI box does in reverse. So that’s why I turned it around. It converts instrument level to Line level. You can use any passive DI. Just run the signal backwards (you'll need a TRS to female XLR adapter cable). Use the monitor out of your sound card as the send so you can use the volume knob to trim the level. That's what I do. Works great. Cost maybe $30 total. Man, these Apple silicon Macs are terrible at this. My old 2nd gen i7 PC with an NVidia GTX 970 processes a fast capture in under 3 minutes, default was around 9, advanced was just under 20 minutes. When the process is running it's working the GPU hard. Apple really should step up their GPU game because this kind of parallel processing seems to be becoming more common.

      Yeah. There is something going on with how TONEX is utilizing the gpu on new Macs. Advanced takes hours! Hoping that gets addressed soon.
