No matter how much I suffer after quitting my job, I will never suffer more than having worked from the job I quit.
I feel the same way too. I suffered a lot more from the job that I quit 5 months ago, than from the job I'm doing right now. :)
@@thedeterminedartist he came to this conclusion after two years. You may or may not feel the same in two years compared to 5 months. Either way I hope that doesn’t happen to you but you just never know how you’ll feel in the future

The people behind these comments keep projecting their fears on you. People want you to “see you’re making a mistake” so bad to validate their own fears. Or simply because they can’t do it for whatever reasons they tell themselves. Kudos to you for leaving a toxic environment. There are millions of people in this world who do not rely on a job to thrive in life. As long as you believe in yourself and never give up, you too can ABSOLUTELY have that be your reality too. I went from being an entrepreneur with 6 figure income to an employee. I can honestly say, being an employee is not that bad since i do get to "slack" at times and still get paid since I'm efficient at my work. Definitely not the same for self-owned business. I think a balance between the 2 is the sweet spot for me.
Certainly a balance between the 2. I thought I had it made until the pandemic screwed everything up for me. I was in real estate doing flippings and short term rentals. Learned more than enough to quit my job to do that by myself with my best friend. We started generating a quarter of a million in revenue by year 2 and were on track for nearly half a mil in 1.5yrs worth of time. Then the pandemic hit and I lost everything. Travel restrictions and lockdowns forced us to close shop on the short term rentals and being in CA, you couldn’t do anything during the lockdowns so we lost bids and projects when we couldn’t even get workers or supplies. Lost it all. Got approved for the COVID EIDL SBA loans and they ran out of funding while processing my application which was approved for $400k. Been back at a 9-5 and about to totally switch careers starting next week after receiving a job offer. We started in 2017 and thought we had it. Never could I imagine the world would literally just go on pause for about 1.5yrs. But after dealing with this, as you say, I think the best balance is to have stability while also working on your projects on the side.

@@High_Key i also got screwed by the pandemic as well. I was in short term rental expanding ever so quickly and then it all came tumbling down. Crazy experience but i have figured that ive been missing out on other things in life.
Feel the same. No big responsibility and can finally relax a bit.
The balance is important. I run my own business and currently have 20 clients and I love it but it is very hands on. I also work full time at a start up and because I'm fast and quick I can finish my work and focus on growing my business. Some 9 to 5's are chill and allow you the time to actually develop yourself outside of work
This was a really interesting perspective! I’m 31 and have always been a self employed musician… until covid kicked off. I worked part time in a brewery at the time, and was faced with two choices - either continue down the self employment route and claim income support grants etc from HMRC, or go full time at my job in the brewery. I decided, well, I don’t want to spend all summer sat on my ass doing nothing - so I’d much rather be going in to work everyday instead. So I went full time at the brewery. That’s when something strange started to happen…
I began to realise, all the years I’d been working as a guitar player, it actually wasn’t making me happy. I LOVED not having to go out and do gigs anymore, spend countless hours alone driving all over the country, doing my own taxes, learning songs OTHER people wanted me to play… I actually loved having a 9-5 (well more like 8-6..), going into work, having a laugh with my workmates, getting the job done, and going home afterwards. In a way I noticed so much more freedom in my personal life and hobbies, because I had the passion to pursue them again. When I worked as a musician, it was all about doing the work I was being paid to do - doing things other people wanted me to do, and that killed my passion for music and completely negated the reason for why I got into music in the first place. Which was that I loved music!
Now it’s a couple of years later, I’ve found that I really love my job and I’m afforded so many freedoms. I heard a term on a podcast called “job sculpting”, which is where people in seemingly menial jobs create their own systems in their work to make it relevant and impactful. My boss is great - as long as I get the work done that needs to be done, he couldn’t care less if I’m 15 minutes late, or want to take a day working at home, or leave work for a minute for a walk to think. He just leaves me to it, and that freedom is amazing.
I had a thought one day that since our company underwent a slight rebrand, that our logo didn’t match the new branding - so I thought maybe we should change it. I brought it up in a chat one day, and after a talk it seemed like everyone agreed, and guess what - my boss went out and changed our logo to something we thought worked better! It’s still my greatest work achievement in my mind, the fact that I’m listened to, respected, and people value my input and opinion to the point where I could literally influence changing the logo for an entire company is amazing to me.
That’s what makes work meaningful, and fun, and just worth doing basically. We’re a small company, and that feeing of us against the world feels great. Like we’re making a difference.
All this is to say, passions don’t go anywhere if you’re not doing them as your day job. There’s nothing wrong with a “normal job”, and there’s so much value in jobs if you’re open minded. I worry nowadays about younger kids coming watching all this content like “rise and grind”, “get a side hustle”, “work for yourself”… of course that’s not bad but it’s not for everyone. The reality of working for yourself is you’re also giving up (potentially) a large part of what makes life worth living; other people. Relationships, sociability, being around people with different opinions than your own, and of different sexualities, genders, and ethnicities. Forging relationships with people is what it’s all about, not sitting in a room alone looking at how your stocks and shares are performing.
In a way I think I had to do both to realise, just as you’re saying here Vincent. You see the good stuff online about being an entrepreneur, but not the bad stuff, and meanwhile a “typical 9 to 5” gets stigmatised as though you’ve failed at life. Bullsh*t!
It’s cool to see someone actually reflecting and growing, it’s all a journey isn’t it.

Yes, you are right, nowadays it is difficult for young people not to lose the meaning of life. Many choose a job that they don't enjoy but that gives them hope to live a "successful life", which is a shame because you miss out on the other aspects of life. I am glad that you have found a good employer who gives you the opportunity to contribute your ideas.

So true, well said. The value of working with people you both like, dislike, aggree with and don't agree with rounds off your character more than sitting on a lounge building stuff on the internet, which is kinda fun, but let's face it, not, at times, character building, or rewarding at the end of a 'hard day' (and I'm not referring to Vincent's lifestyle but just gererlizing). Because the day wasn't that hard. You did what you loved. You grew very little. And everything was kinda easy. Nothing feels better than after 8 hours of proper work in areas of conflict, and hardship (like a busy-as night being a chef, or hectc day in the office putting up with people you don't aggree with), as opposed to 8 hours of sitting at doing something that comes relatively easy to us. Perhas there is a healthy mix of both that can be achieved. I think happiness is achived through overcoming adversity (the type we experience in places we'd prefer not to be), and if we avoid all adversity, and look for comfortble jobs doing what is both easy for us at times isolating, other mental issues may seep in). But, I may be wrong on all accounts. :)
Very well said! A lot of content these days can make you feel like shit for having a regular 9-5 job and not quitting to come up with the 'next big idea and make millions'. Don't get me wrong, I like the idea of a side hustle and if it turns into more without me having to sacrifice what's really important in life then I'd do it. I've recently quit my previous career to retrain as a physiotherapist which whilst I won't be on mega bucks in the future, it is something I'll find fulfilling and will still be decent enough pay doing a 9-5 which I can fit round the rest of my life. I also love having a routine so big up those working 9-5.
This is really important for young people to hear. When you HAVE to make money doing what you love, you can easily start to hate what you love. I actually really love my job working for someone else for money. They pay me well and they make tons more money for much more risk than i want to take on in my daily life. I'm very relaxed, make good money, and have a relatively stress free life, and still have time to do ridiculous stuff I love like watch and listen to Kpop MVs while I work. As you age, some may find it just less stressful to NOT hussle. this whole hussle culture bit is a scam. I'm not hussling for nothing and Im living my best life.
Well said, very true. If you work for yourself / have your own company you have a beast to feed. When you work for someone else the beast feeds you.

they invoke the feeling of everyone should do it because anyone can do it, helps with retention, if you make the viewer feel capable.
One thing you have to keep in mind is everyone is replaceable. If you’re working for someone and there’s a budget cut, they WILL replace you for someone cheaper. Hustling to work for yourself means you NEVER have to worry about your income being taken away by an employer. That in itself is freeing.
@@LeeoGoneWild you can always find another employer.. I think its harder to replace business if something goes wrong. I would love to have one if it pays much more than my 9-5 though
I didn't quit, I gave it all I had and they fired me. Feels good though because my 5yo daughter started school this year and I get up with her every morning and spend every day with her. I also am doing college full time now and am getting back a tiny piece of all the damn taxes I have paid in as unemployment. I am at peace for today.

I quit my corporate like you and am an introvert too and just like you,
TH-cam is what I've learned to get better at and YES, leaving the job and the money is SOOOOO scary, but you have to LIVE through it, I love that so much because it's what I want people to understand: there IS a WAY out of the rut, but you have to take actions, take certain steps and face certain fears.

I own two successful businesses, and I recently went through the same exact thing. There are days where I wonder if I made the biggest mistake of my life not going to law school after I crushed the LSAT. But then I had a moment where I wanted to spend time with my new wife. We were exhausted, run down from our businesses, and... we made ourself relax in the middle of the afternoon on a weekday. We didn't have to ask permission, we just did it. As I looked around that day at people with their heads down working, I realized what the sacrifices were really about.
We look at things differently. We plan and look forward based on ambition, not quotas and box checking. We were, truly, masters of our own destiny. And most importantly, it felt like we were.
You'll feel like this again. And it will pass again in the wake of your successes. Just remember: nobody on this earth can threaten your livlihood if you don't appease their corporate/company byline. If the unthinkable happens and you DID fail... you'll just innovate, adapt, and overcome. You said it yourself in one of your videos, if you focus on your failures, you ignore the massive volume of wins you've ever had.
It's all a race for financial independence and peace. Godspeed, and I'll see you at the finish line.
I sucked at the LSAT, couldn't even make 152 (or whatever the median score is). failed at many other pursuits too. no sour grapes from me. I am great at some things like getting people to lose weight and a few other jobs, but suck at others.

I'm so glad you posted this. Honestly I was so jealous of everyone being able to quit. I was like well I wish I could knowing financially I'm not able to. But I'm glad you're doing well financially and thank you for being totally honest. People need honesty.
If my kids tell me they are hungry, I’ll sell my body to feed them. Telling people to rage quit is a terrible idea if you have kids. “Sorry I can’t feed you, and we’re losing our house and living in our car, and I can’t take you to see a dentist for that cavity because we have no insurance, because I had a bad day at work and daddy’s boss is mean anywhere I get a job.”
I quit my job, but not out of rage. I left in good terms. I was tired of the same nonsense and applied for one job that I thought was better than my job. I wasn't desperate or eft my job before having another job. I told my new employer why I was leaving my job. Better opportunities and growth. I was hired instantly earning a lot more.
Kudos for having the courage to quit. I wish I had had that courage to leave a toxic career. That was not common for people like me in their 50s. On the good side, you are young and have your future ahead of you. Thank goodness you are financially stable.
Quit my job back in March. Definitely regret quitting without another job lined up. Had a financial cushion and was able to travel for a bit which I don’t regret doing. But it’s definitely more difficult finding another job. Didn’t realize how easy I had it although I was really burned out.

Always have a job line up, gaps gives hint of people quitting randomly, makes you more risky to hire.
Sadly, I had to leave my job after they were going to coach me over doing my job the right way instead of the wrong way. After a hospital trip and a funeral, I knew they were gonna try to fire me, so I handed in my notice after i realized how good it would be to be free. But I can agree on being burned out and I don't want to carry that to a new job so I am thinking of temping for a little till I find where I belong. Good luck on finding a new job.🙏
Yeah i quit a job i didnt like with bad hours amd schedule and saw tons of other places hiring but its been weeks since i have worked and no one wants to hire me
I was burnt out working at a luxury retailer… it was too much.. I quit and felt depressed quite quickly … but that was opposed to stress and anxiety at work everyday. Thankfully I got my old job back with good management but the other people are so filthy
Even after watching this video I still think self-employment is for me. I'd personally much rather work 40-70 hours a week for myself rather then work 40-70 hours for someone else, commuting there and back, and making their dreams possible. You did mention something earlier which I disagree with when you said "I have to be my own boss and I can't afford to not work especially when I don't want to". Correct, but the same will apply when you have a job. You can't call out sick when you don't simply feel like it because you're scheduled or expected to show up 9-5 Monday through Friday. And if you do call out at a lot because maybe your going through a rough time or need a break from work then you'll risk losing your job as well. Where as if you are self employed and you simply don't work for one day the only thing it does is effect your pocket. Job security does exist in some fields but you should always be prepared to jump ship when your company lays you off because of "budget cuts". I think it ultimately comes down to wether or not you value your time/ freedom over security/ dependence. Personally I hate operating on an hourly wage because no more how productive I am, ultimately I'll still be paid almost the same as the guy who is lacking off (as you mentioned in the video). I also don't like being tied to schedule where I am forced to come in from 9-5. I'd much rather spring out of bed at 6am, get all my work done and out of the way as quickly as I can, and then have the rest of the day to myself (even if some days it can take me 4 hours to complete and some day it can take me 10), even if I only means I get one day off in the week.

This is straight bullshit, I work a 9-5 and make over 6 figures as well as having the ability to take time off when ever I need to. Just cause your reality was shitty doesn't mean mines was. Sometimes you gotta keep learning and improving so that you can eventually land a job that gives you the flexibility you want.

“Am I running away from something? Or running towards something?” - great question to ask oneself.
I myself wanted to quit my consulting job so bad a few years ago, but I didn’t because I knew that I was trying to run away from it. Now I am finding it fun, as I have younger new grads working for me(I found joy in teaching).
Now I want to go travel around the world in my last 20’s. But I know this time I am “running towards something,” as I am going back to the current job after a year of sabbatical😌
As someone who used to be a full-time TH-camr and now has a full-time job with TH-cam on the side, I can say this is definitely a much more better way to live for me… but I don’t think people will really understand how hard it is to do TH-cam full time until they go through it themselves.
I quit my finance job 6 days ago. Worked there for over 8+ years & I was unhappy, stressed & beyond burned out. Everything always works out. I feel so liberated. 🙌🏼

My husband and I both quit our jobs to follow our passion. I have already freaked out and we are just starting our businesses, but it is scary. Being an employee is easier, but less rewarding.
This is the most honest video that I have seen on the subject. I have been self-employed for 15 years now and I can vouch 100% for what this TH-camr is saying. The hardest thing I have ever done is self-employment, and it is the loneliest too. Wgen we work for large corporations and have salaried positions with great benefits, it is a huge thing to leave all that to become self-employed. If you don't have a true-to-the-bone, bones Why, I would suggest you don't do it. Start with a strong, truthful Why, or continue to be an employee. Trust me on this. :-)
Self-employment is hell and continues to be the hardest thing I've done. It's been seven years. At the moment I'm very happily working part time for a team and I'd easily switch to full time if it were an option. I think I'd bounce between working for a boss and working for an audience every 5 years given the choice. (You never really get to work for yourself. That's an illusion.)

What a beautiful take and perspective on your journey. I think more people need to see the pros and cons of "doing what you love" for a job.
I’m a stay at home mom right now but I remember when I was working I would day dream and work on my business. Well, I started my “dream” business after I had my 2nd daughter and I quit my job and I started to absolutely HATED it. Their is something really nice about going to a steady job, having Saturday and Sunday off, not thinking about your job 24/7. Having health insurance lol all of those things. I’m still a stay at home mom but my business was even taking me away from that, both physically and mentally. It isn’t as easy or as fun as it looks. And I already knew it was going to be hard work and a sacrifice but I realized that that I wasn’t willing to sacrifice certain things. Now I simply focus on homeschooling and raising my children and I love it and I know I’ll never regret it. Yes it’s tough at time since we live on one income but it’s worth it in the end. I learned a lot about myself.

Self employment is always difficult at first, but I think it’s more fulfilling in the long wrong. What helps a lot in the future is if you start doing something that gives you passive income. No matter how hard it can get, I’d rather build a business for myself than work for some corporate that pays you a median income, while they make millions off of you. But there definitely are pros and cons for both.

I have been working for corporate for so long doing a great job, and I survived the layoff wave of 2020, I felt burned out daily, and the workload increased due to the layoffs, so I quit my job last year. I tried to start my own business, but I quickly found that it won’t get me the income I needed, and I actually that I was enjoying my job, but not so much the load and the corporate culture. After six months, I decided to return to work BUT and a big BUT here, my whole work attitude was very different. For the first time, I was interviewing the companies, something I forgot in my previous experiences. Second I set my priorities, and no matter how much a company would offer, if they don’t match my preferences, I would just simply refuse the offer. See, what quitting does is that it pushes you out of your comfort zone. Only then you recognize that it’s OKAY. I can survive, and I am not afraid.
I love your honesty and transparency, when others are just focused on showing the good parts of their lives you're here showing us the truth
This is such a great video bro! I’ve been watching you for two years now and the progression of your channel has been pretty incredible. I appreciate this video so much. People don’t realize how good you have it having a job as opposed to being an entrepreneur. Being an entrepreneur you work way more hours and you run the entire ship alone. Really appreciate this video bro.

This is so relatable! I quit my job in a similar fashion, and feel all the feels you described here. You've actually made me feel better about my situation, as I had just been wondering if I made a huge mistake. Your last question definitely gave me my answer, even though I'm still that lost dog wandering out there. I'd rather be wandering aimlessly in my creative thoughts than dying inside everyday at a meaningless job. I have learned recently that it's important to take vacations every once in a while. Just wish it wasn't so lonely.

Great video! I have gone through everything you talked about. I quit my job to write and do public speaking. I did this for four years and it was the hardest and most rewarding work. I almost never took a day off and never took any vacations. You do a great job on your videos! Keep it up!

I left my job for a year because I was burned out. I resigned with money in the bank. Now, try interviewing without having to explain that gap and get judged or discarded. It's been tough finding another job. I've never seen it be such a mess. Seriously. I'm about at the point where I'm going to have to pay monthly bills on a credit card. Nightmare.

It takes a lot of integrity to admit that, and a lot of love and respect for yourself to know that you deserve something better.
It's so hard to put your passion and your energy into something you want, be it a career, relationship, or any project, and to find out that it didn't work for you and maybe that the love for it wasn't sustainable. Loved the vid! I think what makes entrepreneurial pursuits a bit easier, is being married to a spouse with a normal job haha. I know that certainly made it easier for me, when I quit my job to dive into reselling online. I am at a point now where I still desire to resell part time but also looking into freelance marketing niches online as another to way to diversify our income. I learned a lot through my journey and I wouldn’t change it! sometimes things just don’t turn out exactly as we thought they would. As for direction, I rely on the Holy Spirit and prayer to give me wisdom and guidance.

There are so many folks who talk about quitting their job, finding inner peace, and then they quickly segway into how much time they now have and "here's how to make money" videos. Everyone I have viewed is completely happy and doing well financially according to their video channel. I thought there had to be so much more to it than that. Yup. You mentioned every single reason I can't run my business FT right now and have to stay in a job I hate. Also, I'm an introvert and work in a call center, so I have no energy to look for jobs after work. It's awful.

Vincent, I have recently started following you and I must say that you produce amazing content. Thanks for the honesty. Many people think content creation is super easy and you work like 3 hours per day. NOTHING MORE FAR from reality. Editing a video myself takes me a whole day, sometimes more.

I love this! Thank you for being so real in a world where everyone is encouraged to quit so that they can get rich overnight. I quit my safe job to start a private practice as a therapist 1.5 years ago,so I am a little behind where you are. Though now I am at the point where I see that its going to work out; with all I have learnt it can only get better from here. But this is only after experiencing that rollercoaster ride of extreme highs and lows; and my first year as an entrepreneur was one of the most confronting years I ever had. And yep...that tax thing...been there and when the sh*t hit the fan despite all my good intentions, then I was ready to walk away from my lifetime dream for good😆 . Instead I just started again.
Things are more stable now and the potential is huge...ultimately I am glad I quit, though with the power of hindsight I probably should have waited. The thing is though...there is no way of knowing what you are getting into before you are in the thick of it right? Biggest lesson for me is this; I really did not know what I did not know about running an online business...I really did not have a clue...and I am glad I didn't know that when I quit. The learning curve was immense and such a hard slog...but the personal growth the last year has been more than the past 10.
And that is why I could never go back. This is my real job. And quitting would be giving up on who I am and what I am meant to do in the world. So its not an option. But finding 'fake" part time jobs to supplement my income whilst building my real job....that's not failure as I first felt, thats just smart....and that became the answer for me. :) Thanks for sharing you journey, it was sooo identifiable and I chuckled with recognition throughout. :) Happy holidays!

I 1000% agree with this, and this is why I try not to monetize my passion. That's a hobby that I do when I want to enjoy myself, and the thing that I do for a job is something I just like. I think this needs to be talked about more because right now, the common belief is that you should be in love with your job and that it has to be the most fulfilling thing you do

Whenever I’m trying to launch a personal project (currently 2 movies and a clothing brand), even though I feel passioned about these projects, I get the same feeling you described at the end of the video : wtf am I doing and am I going in the right direction ?

I first was an employee, then went to be a freelance translator for 6 cruel years (although I adored what I did) but ended up working for a global corporation, I'm going on 5 years now. And to be honest, I'm really happy being financially stable. Also I don't hate my work. 😅
This is so relatable. I also learned the hard way when I quit my corporate job a few years ago and went onto part-time contract work with the intention of building my business. I have never been more stressed out in my life and basically wasn't able to focus on building my business because of the lack of structure and financial stability, while also constantly feeling burnt out.

This is a refreshingly honest video. Everybody is like Quit your job, 9 to 5 is the worst, etc. I actually plan to change careers and it’s quite difficult to do. I plan to start working just 4 hours a day while I start my own company.

This is such a great and needed video, Vincent. As someone who has been lucky enough to have made my living online for a number of years, followed by a decent career in corporate America, two things really stand out:
1) Your thoughts on the limited ceiling in the corporate world is spot on. While there is a measure of security in a steady paycheck, the flip side is that you are limited by (a) the job category you're in, and (b) the amount of money you can make. Sure you can promote and (slightly) change both of these things, but to what degree? Unless you're on a CEO fast-track, it takes decades to make the kinds of big career and money increases that truly move the needle. While entrepreneurship comes with different risks (not necessarily more or less - just different), its advantages are the polar opposite - there is no limit to your role in the company you create, and no ceiling on your income. But of course, the risk of failure is high...crazy high.
Depending on your level of risk tolerance and the stage you're at in life, this can often be a no-brainer...in one direction or the other. Speaking of risk aversion...
2) The other thing to consider is something that most TH-camrs (and commenters) haven't yet encountered, but unfortunately, will come to you eventually - age discrimination. At a certain point, jobs will become more difficult to come by, and the risk will shift.
At one time in my life, a corporate job was the less risky route, because that steady paycheck helped to provide for my family. But now, at age 52, with my kid grown, and being the recipient of a post-merger layoff, Corporate America no longer seems to have a use for me. I've finally realized that the risk balance has shifted. For the rest of my work life, providing my own income is actually going to be far less risky than trying to get a salaried job as I (and all of us) continue to age.
This is thought-provoking stuff, and I truly appreciate you bringing it to the forefront. Thank you!

Quitting your job was not a mistake, assuming that this path was going to be easy was. You’re doing great and remind yourself why you chose the path in the first place. I quick my job in 2016. I'm lazy and now i get to work less hours and less days. I've never been over ambitious, I don't care for making millions at the expense of my hobbies. I'm making enough for food, my hobbies, building, my house and travelling (on the cheap cheap). It also helps I don't have a family nor do I want one. 😅
Absolutely love the transparency and reality check you gave everyone! People definitely idolize the "entrepreneur" dream thinking that they easily work 4 hours a week and get paid $$$. Also, love how well integrated your sponsors and personal ads are :)
Gonna go follow your doc channel now because I live for dat shit and support your dreams king.
I watch this channel to live a different (virtual) reality. People always tell me to open my own restaurant or start my own carpentry business, but I've continued to work in Corporate Finance because turning my passion into a job will turn it into work. I'm also a people pleaser, so these client-facing jobs would drive me crazy. The budgetting part Vincent talked about would also drive me nuts.
I think about my day-job as a method to finance my passion projects, and that's honestly something I don't take for granted. Passions and hobbies on the side is key to keeping me sane!!!

Jordan Peterson talks about how there's a price to everything in life, there is no route that is without pain so you need to choose the pain that's meaningful, in other words, worth it. It's easy to get the grass is greener perspective whenever you face a hardship with a route you're on, that's partly probably what made you go on this entrepreneur route, maybe a boss doubled the expectations of work in half the timeline so you had to give up your weekend. However, that same perspective can rob the fruits of what you've accomplished now, remember the sovereignty over your destiny, and the impact you'll make as a content creator will infidelity be more meaningful than whatever desk job you can get. That's enough meaning to make it all worthwhile, despite the struggles of taking this less-traveled route, at least imho. From one ENTJ to INTJ, keep at it brother. I'm trying to break that first barrier of escaping the rat race myself on my channel but it's nice to know you kept it real with what's on the other side, Now I'm all the more prepared!

"Feel like a stray dog walking into a ghost town..." YES! That is EXACTLY how I feel as an entrepreneur and sole-proprietor business owner! The loneliness is very real as it's difficult to find peers you properly mesh with. Also, your brain never fully turns off "work" mode; it's like the switch gets fused into one position and you have to replace the entire circuit (i.e. retire) just to be able to adjust back to "relax" mode again. (Beware, even retirement may not "correct the circuit". 🤣 ) If you don't have a proper, personal support network to help cheer you on through the "crash times" you WILL experience as an entrepreneur, you may be better off just going W2 and letting someone else manage those many, many, MANY expenses. Otherwise if you have the support network, and the sheer fortitude, being your own boss is extremely rewarding. 😎
If you don’t want to invest…learn. If you don’t want to learn…build. If you don’t want to build observe. DO SOMETHING…other than leave. There is so much opportunity here. Take advantage!

I love the honesty! Self-employment is definitely such a hassle as soon as you want to do something like get a mortgage or sponsor a partner for a visa. I got an employment contract and went back to work for 8 months just so I could gather the documents to sponsor my husband to move from the USA to the UK. Inflation in America right now is insane and the cost of health insurance is crazy! I don’t think people should be punished for being self-employed though I understand it’s way easy to launder money if you are getting paid cash!
You've created a demanding yet well paying and more fulfilling job for yourself that is disguised as a business. A business is something that can be scaled and automated to the point where you can walk away from it and it essentially runs itself, that's where freedom lies.
