Hey Justin. We crossed paths on this year's Tour Divide in Steamboat at McDonalds. For some reason it took them forever to get my food haha. Anyways, I enjoyed your company and it was nice to talk to have someone to talk to after a long day out on the trail. I enjoy your content and enthusiasm for biking. It keeps me stoked. Keep it up and I am excited to tune in for your next adventure!
Connor! Thanks dude! It was so good to meet you... Steamboat (and most of Colorado) was a low point for me but meeting you was definitely a highlight. And how about your finish!? Way to go man, proud of you... helluva ride!
I did a section of great divide in 2022. It’s really refreshing to see some of the same sights years later. I hope to return in 2027 to Finnish the route!
2k on a single speed doing one of the hardest races in the world is nothing to be ashamed of. You did good considering the aches and pains, along with the ever changing weather. I thoroughly enjoyed watching this video of your personal experience.
Great video and effort. It brings back memories of my ride (at a touring pace) this summer. I can appreciate the difficulty of racing, especially on a single speed! Thanks for sharing.
Great video Justin. Thoughtfully filmed and edited with some nice music. Brought back some great memories of this years TD as I completed it in 25 days. In 2022 I broke six ribs on the final descent in Canada to the US border after hitting a rock at speed. Sorry to hear you couldn’t complete the TD this year
If you're considering this ride, I recommend starting in Jasper so you can include the Icefields parkway and more time in the Canadian Rockies which are spectacular. The parkway is mostly a road ride which makes it a good warm up before the actual off-road GDMBR.
Thanks for video, nice meeting you. Note: all riders there is private property mm 14.5 cr 3 ute pass colorado between the Williams fork reservoir and ute pass. Bike decor and cooler at road marker, single gate stop on in.
Thanks for the question. The GDMBR (Great Divide Mountain Bike Route) is an established route by American Cycling Association that spans close to 3000 miles starting in Canada all the way down the Continental Divide. It's not marked with signage, there is an established GPS file and paper maps that the ACA sells. This video is about the Tour Divide, an underground race that uses a modified version of the GDMBR route.
Incredible video, thanks for sharing your experience. Gotta attempt that ride myself one day. Curious how you felt about singlespeed/what ratio did you use.
Is top 5 climbs based on enjoyability or difficulty? If ranked by enjoybleness: 1. Marshall Pass 2. Stemple pass 3. Richmond peak 4. Fleecer Ridge 5. Boreas Pass
I was going to rank them on how enjoyable they were... I mostly agree with your list but Fleecer and Stemple wouldn't make the cut... my favorite is Huckleberry!
@@jjjjustin I'll have to try huckleberry when I don't get caught in a hail storm and then have a strap from my rack get sucked into my cassette at night. I'm sure it's really nice in some warm daylight.
@@jjjjustin I was all trained up for this year, but surgery one month before trip ended that. Planning next summer 2025 start in Banff. I rode from Roosville down to Breck in 2021, border was closed to CAN. Dig your Ti build, I've got a Chumba Stella Ti from 2019. Happy trails☮

It's nice to see summer when it's winter outside! There's an atmosphere, especially the music in the video.

The review is in the video somewhere... draw your own conclusions. And watch sheep!

So good. Thanks.
Fleecer is funner north bound 😂, great video!
thanks! I fleecer would be fun in a 4x4
Why didn’t you guys want use gears? Vs a single speed?
Too much to unpack in the comment section, I encourage you to watch some of my other videos to draw your own conclusions about single speeds.
Love the bike setup. What gear ratio are you using?
Thanks... 32x17... check out my other build videos for all sorts of details.
Did you guys rely on bike computers for navigation or follow signs?

Great video, thanks for the memories. Q: Which airline did you take into Calgary from DIA with the bike? Thanks
Thanks! Were you out there this year? I don't remember what airline I took... whatever was cheapest I'm sure.

Thanks for the video! What was the knee issue?
Tendons from overuse.
What bag did you use to fly with your bike?
A cardboard box.
