I honestly came here for 2 things... To see what the 300 looks like and how you would handle going down Gold Ridge. I hiked up it with my bike and it was one of the worst things ever haha. 52% grades at times. But I still have the 300 SoBo left so I appreciate you showing how beautiful the riding was down there! Got me excited to go back!
Harmless is not a word I would use to describe a rattlesnake. Their venom is both neurotixic and hemotoxic so double really bad news if you don't get a dry bite (they aren't obligated to fire a warning shot). They are shy and will move away if they can but will put you down *for.real.* if you piss them off *-- don't piss them off - -* you are on their turf and would be well advised to remember it. Cheers to a great video - damn those cactus thorns, tho' - that looks painful.
Love the video! So I’m planning on racing the AZT next October.. I’m personally a roadie. I’ve been on a MTB maybe 3 times 😅.. is there any advice or tips you can share with me? Any equipment or items you took with you that really benefited you?
WOW! You really did a fantastic job of producing an accurate account of what it will be like bikepacking those sections! Thank you! I have to ask - how many flats did you get? How many spare tubes did you carry? My concern is all the thorns.
Thank! Great job. Very helpful! True meaningful ride you accomplished!
Amazing journey! AZ has lots of epic mountain biking. Thanks for such a nice video.
Thanks for sharing your trip! Well done!

I like your setup for those rough trails. I also have a full suspension bike I want to use for bikepacking. Im almost there!

Very rewarding accomplishment Johann. Congratulations. I particularly enjoy your narrative style. Take care.

hi johann! is it possible to ride the trail during mid december-mid january?
What time of year would you say is the best time to do this trip? Looks awesome!

What bike?
How many days total? And what was average mileage and gain for each day? Thanks!
Did you find out how many miles per day Johann did and or how long it took? I'm trying to plan my trip now, thanks!

Did you see any backpackers I think it's a part of CDT?
Not part of CDT, but there are hikers doing the Arizona Trail ... never ran into bikepackers, but can across hikers regularly...
