I’ve learned so much from this video alone. I am now grasping, and bd able to visualize how you create your people figures from dabs and splash of colors to start with. Thank you.
Thank you for a wonderfully informative video demo! Also what's the website where you found the photo? I thought you said splash but I can't find a website with that name, other than a pure water website. Thank you again, Patt!
I do not plan my backgrounds - they are started out by off loading my brush while painting and using up leftover paint at the end of a painting session. I may do stamps or stencils as I go or when I feel there is lots of paint but not much pattern. When I have a yummy background I look at it to see imagery or in this case I decided this gal suited the background. I always have lots of messy backgrounds to choose from.
Patt I was wanting to buy your online workshop for the beginners cold wax and oil. You have it on sale for CAD97. If I purchase this do I just download it to my iPad? I do not have a computer. Do I just then work through it in my own time? There isn’t much info there on it. Thanks Patt. I have my wax and oils now, so it would be a good time for me to learn from you.
Hello Jen, you can go through the lessons on my learning platform. No need to download them. It is a self paced course and you can watch as many times as you like. More info at the following link. Did anybody else notice the other face in the painting at the 6 min. 25 second mark ?!! It is orange , next to the shoulder on the right (when looking at the video).
Hi Patt! Is it possible for you to post a link of your photo reference for this painting? I have looked on Unsplash but cannot locate it. I would like to try this painting and the reference would help. As always I enjoy your tutorials so much. Thanks!

You are so welcome Sharon! Happy New Year to you!🥂🍾
Thanks so much
You're welcome!
Have you ever painted the characters as the negative area and left the background in colors and patterns?
It could be done that way as well. I just prefer painting out the negative space around the forms.

About how much time do you spend on the background and how much planning do you do for thbackround? Thank you 😊

Yes I see it - I don’t think it was obvious straight on. I didn’t notice it when I was painting anyway.
How can I join? Cost?
I am not sure what you are referring to?. I have a free Facebook group and will soon start a membership.
