Colorful Figures… Together
Welcome Back to Another BobBlast!
Figures! This BobBlast is a quick demo of figures from my Carrot People files. This time though, I am painting more than one figure in my painting!
For me, two together in the same painting implies a story. When I practice painting a single figure, there is not necessarily a story; it can be rather neutral, in fact. But put two figures together, you have an instant story! A colorful painting of a couple tells an upbeat story for me.
In the demo, you can watch me add a second figure to an existing painting of one figure. No matter what color wheel I am using (the Universal Color Wheel or my Goof-Proof Color Wheel) I like to begin with a monochromatic color scheme - generally light orange or red.
Next, I place the second person in close relationship to the existing figure. I start with the focal point - the face - of the second figure.
After these initial steps, I continue to paint all over the surface. Painting the story is key for me. I always say, "It doesn't matter how you communicate… it just matters that you do."
And always… I like to title the painting first. When your painting matches your title, it's finished! Paint your story!

im a artist, and have been depressed with no creativity ( basically dead ) for years till i found you recently bob, and you brought me back to life. ive never wanted a art teacher but i would be your apprentice any day. you had me with your style of painting of " make a mess" and " lets do all the things they told you not too " i mostly work in graphite and color pencil and have a more realistic style of drawing. i would really love to send you one of my art works to do whatever you want with, as a thank you for your videos

Hi Bob. Love your videos. It mostly these days I’ve been painting and watercolor and so I did this wooden watercolor instead of just whining about it I like the way it turned out although I kind of had to do it backwards anyway great video thank you again for all you do for us artist out there who want to learn more
