Me and a friend starting playing this a month ago. It's a blast, so well designed. Everyone should play. The level design and crunching snow under foot. We just want more!
actually the bed thing is your crafting bench that sets the safe area. It only functions as a safe zone so long as it's powered so hook up a battery to it
i'm so glad more people are playing abiotic factor, i have 100 hours of gameplay and i don't even own this game lol (played coop with a friend) this will be my own christmas gift, just in time for the full release of the game
it is infact a powered workbench that creates a safezone, so technically if you wanna expand it you could just plug in a second workbench nearby. the problem is that events have set spawn locations (whenever the game says The Air Feels Strange Tonight) so for example i Still have raids like that happen even with a workbench directly on top of where the enemies spawn, because that's simply an "event spawn" location, so I had to place a buncha turrets around instead
oh I have that, I wasn't talking about portal storms, but actual enemy spawnpoints. "the air feels strange" has a lot of events, from soldiers dropping in to a zombie invasion to exors teleporting in to raid you, not just portal storms, and the upgrade OR bench safezone don't stop those from happening in the middle of your base if you happened to build in such a place
@@jhonangarthor The Portal Suppressor also applies to the raids too. I have a base in Labs where Zombies would spawn on my Toilet (I found out the Hard Way). Once I got the Portal Suppressor though, they started Spawning Downstairs, and I no longer needed a Turret in the Bathroom.
You can increase stacks in the settings, monsters attack all things you place as a precaution so you don't glitch lock enemies path finding. Your complaint about flipping furniture on the Z axis is valid.
I dont use world setting as a metric in my reviews because I treat games as if a new player were to hop in. Most new players arent gonna touch world settings. Totally understandable a put the pathing, but theres gotta be a better solution that isn’t punishing the player for their hard work right? Thanks for watching btw! Hope to see ya again!
Im like 150 hours in with a base at the big building at the end of hydroplant, I had to place 6-7 workbenches all with portal suppression to stop enemies from spawning. On top of that I needed 20 tesla coils spread across each room just so whenever a 'non-portal raid' happened I didn't need to scramble across my base to figure out where the enemies were destroying everything.
Oh i have 235 hours, and I live in the containment zone in front of a large flooded room, it's very comfortable to live there, and the enemies never appear there for some reason
a youtuber having videos on both vintage story and abiotic? sign me up! both of these games desperately need more recognition i will glaze abiotic factor every chance i get it's my favorite survival game ever by now
It's super cool how it uses dense fog as an element since Half-Life was also inspired by Stephen King's "The Mist." The Composer enemy also very much reminds me of some of the demons in Hellboy
The powered workbench prevents enemy respwans, not your bed. If you keep it powered throughout the whole night with a battery or two then it won't stop working.
As a Major AF fan, ill admit up-front that whenever I start a world I will set Item Stacks to x2 and Fridge Decay to Decreased. Major Quality of Life improvements from those two changes, not having to build an entire warehouse of storage crates, or leave my fridges empty and only go hunting when I get hungry like some kind of Nerdy Caveman cause the food will spoil otherwise. Prior to the Halloween Update it had also felt a little tedious, having to wait for the Train to Respawn because I need more Carbon and Lenses to craft fancy science stuff with, or Flathill to get the Staplers because I never realized how much of a crucial resource they were until I burnt through 60 of them making a Death Trap for The Order in Manufacturing. Canaan and the Christmas Presents really make things easier tbh. Excited for what is to come, and the Portal Network (Though this does mean I may have to retire my Shelves of Teleporters when that happens)
Fair enough! I dont tamper with world settings because I treat every game as if im a new player who doesnt know better. That way I can provide the new player experience
You need to have a powered workbench in order to stop enemies from spawning around ur base. i have the entirety of the office sector spawn proofed with them
This might be a stupid comment, but the power sockets turn off at night on default settings. So if you don't have some kind of back-up power in the forms of batteries, then the work bench will turn off at night and enemies will start respawning.
No such thing as a stupid comment! But yeah ive been informed. Only issue is the battery upkeep and what not to maintain that mechanic. It should be handled a different way thats more clear to the player imo.
Awesome review! You built a home base in a terrible location though lol, so I don't know how valid your complaints about the enemies breaking things are. For example, that door on the left side if you pause at 5:20, that's one of the most secure places to build an early base that will serve you very well. All it takes is a level 1 hacking device to get into. There is a ladder to get up into a security surveillance room that has quite a bit of room to work with. Also enemies don't spawn there, can't break the walls, and can't climb the ladder. It's really a perfect refuge of safety early on.
Huh, I had a big ol' post that I was gonna update with a response to mention I saw others said the same thing when I actually scrolled further down the comments. But aight Well, the non redundant part of my OG post below then Good video, glad to see Abiotic Factor gettin some ove.
you can do flips in the air if you unlock the sneak roll at level 5 sneak and that gives you good movement in the air, you can literally do front flips to jump over stuff, its awesome, makes the game a 10/10 instantly
i bought this game when it first came out and its so worth every dolor i put into it and the almost 100 hours and thank you for making a video on it i cant wait to see this game get bigger
The funniest thing is that the whole disaster wasn't even caused by the scientists. Its caused by bunch of crazed cultist soldiers messing with something they don't understand and quite possibly causing an apocalypse while they were at it.
I agree entirely on it feeling pretty polished, I have well over 200 hours on it atp and I always seem to find something new to mess with and rarely have any issues! I am excited to see what they can cook up with a final release!
I just wish they hadn't used that engine... or had done a lot more optimization work on it first. Because I love it, but having a game with a deliberate Half-Life 1 retro style that demands such a powerful machine is a problem - it won't run well on the Steam Deck, and it won't run well on my gaming laptop, meaning my wife can't play it with me. By comparison, Valheim with all its crazy building options and terrain deformation and rolling seas... runs fine.
i wanted to love this game but its tediousness turned up to 11 the very least enemy soldiers should not respawn by the time im backtracking the exact same route i went in from on top of that you have to manage hunger, thirst, exhaustion, weight, shidding and bizzing, all these small collectible materials that you need constantly, cooking, temperature, dangerous events, enemies constantly respawning everywhere all the time, broken ankles, radiation, enemies breaking your stuff, your equipment breaking, YOUR EQUIPMENT BATTERY.... TOO. MUCH. this game is a CRAWL.
I shall give you the greatest honour that I can bestow putting your video in the background while I play Minecraft only the best have that noble title
Ay! Watch anyway you like! I appreciate you tuning in either way

I was pretty convinced that what created a safe zone was a powered workbench, not a bed
On my way to visit the wiki
It might be both? I’ve definitely only noticed when the bed is placed. Even then things respawning inside of props is WACK. Do let me know though!

Its even scarier when you can see the composers made their way in if the fog shows up.
I always turn up stack limit to the max in custom sandbox settings.
True! Love the custom world settings. I just grade it on the default experience because thats what most players are gonna start with
