    Subwassertang is far superior in my opinion, it attaches much quicker and is much hardier and doesn't get full of algae and dirt the war java moss does. I covered a few large pieces of driftwood in subwassertang and within 6 weeks it had attached securely and began to become thick and bushy it's amazing for shrimp tanks and a good hiding place for fry.

      What's your tank like with subwassertang? mine is getting brown and doesnt seem to grow. Do you have strong light and flow, also , do you fertilize?

    • @ViolentRainbow
      @ViolentRainbow 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@MCAQUIN0 strong direct light is best i find it doesnt do well at all if shaded by anything i also dont add ferts as it has a negative effect last time i dosed my tank the subwassertang started browning and kinda dissolved away to just some roots on the wood but it did grow back eventually.

      Oh also uou need low flow definitely as high flow will dislodge it especially when you first attach it and also when it grows bushy large clumps come away quite easily and will float away and it can attach to things you dont want it to like filter outlets.

      @@ViolentRainbow Ah alright thank you very much! That direct sunlight part helps a lot. So ill do that! Low flow and direct light! Thank you!

      Wish I experienced this. My subwassertang is like 3 months old and hasn't grown even a bit. It's crazy. Everything else is growing fine

    Just added Wassertang 2 weeks ago. But,its not lost a step. Acclimated to a tank that gets mid and afternoon sun to dusk..over part of the tank. Java moss is also. The Wasser thing looks good in a current. Like mini Sea lettuce you find at the beach. Dark green and every part is perfect.

    Fun fact: Subwassertang is German for "freshwater seaweed", so the "W" is pronounced like a "V" (i.e. subvassertang).

      Yes, but you forgot the most important part....it's a ß not a B. Pronounced like S.
      And with the umlaut on the u makes it soos
      Süßwassertang or Suesswassertang.

    Cool experiment. I've kept java moss forever. I've never kept subwassertang. Looking forward to how this goes

    I enjoyed very much. I have one tank I put a piece of subwassertang in. It was grown all the way around my center piece and is about 2-3 inch thick. Every little piece will start growing and connect. It is an amazing moss. You did a great job on your wood.

    Süßwassertang. The ß isn't a capital b, it's an "eszett", which can be written in English with two S's. Without the German characters, it would be written Suesswassertang. Sweetwater (freshwater) seaweed.

  • @hariwake3140
    @hariwake3140 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    Süsswassertang (German spelling: Süßwassertang; the b ß is a s) süss wasser Means Sweet water

    I like the Subwassertang plant more I have moss but I like the Subwassertang better cause of the
    wide limbs leaves ? has on it my guppies get tangled up in the moss where the Subwassertang
    they wouldn't & it grows sorta fluffier?? I'm looking for me some if you have any extra you can sell. new sub here.
