I don't answer my phone unless I recognize a number. If it's that important, they can leave a voicemail. If it's a useless voicemail, I just block the phone number.
I have a Sony Xperia. When put in "silent mode", it only rings if the caller is in the contacts list. You can still see the other calls though. It is very convenient.
If I receive a call from unknown number, I sometimes send a message informing them I don't recognize your number , if you need to reach me please make your initial contact by message, informing me why you need to talk to me, they never do.
Toggling the switch to 'off' on the Phone Number Sharing screen does not stop your phone sharing the number. It merely takes away your choice of which number to transmit by disabling that screen.

0:53 Read the text. It does not imply Google will share your phone number if this is enabled. It enables Google to present you with the choice of sharing a number. I'd be more wary of disabling a choice than leaving it on.
That is correct, but a completely wrong statement to 'be wary' of turning off settings. Just means it limits some services. Not everyone needs or wants all the interference and crap peddled by Google, it's not the Oracle
@bertbox69 My point is that disabling the presentation of a choice might trigger a default action I DON'T want. I'm talking more precaution, not less, or trusting Google.
I came here to say just that. If Google presents me with a choice of which number to share, then that is better than that is just sharing my number by default. I will be leaving this toggle enabled.
Thanks, very useful. In addition to getting unwanted phone calls and sms scams with web links, phone number also gives access to whatsapp and other phone number based apps.
Agreed, I have been make changes via his video's for about an hour. These devices are tracking our every move and all our activities, it is just insane!!
His advice is actually wrong. Unselecting that setting does not prevent sharing of the number. It just takes away your choice of which number it shares. It even says so in the text on the screen. Those who can read do have an advantage

i don't have (or cannot locate) permission manager on my samsung A32. is this normal, or can i locate it somewhere else on the phone. everything else you mentioned i was able to do. thanks for these valuable tips.
I don’t have permission manager on my phone either. But instead I went into settings, apps, then clicked on each app. There is a permission section for each app of what you are allowing. Click on it and you can change what you allow on each app. You will need to repeat the process for each app.
Please, if you can, wait until your screen focuses properly .... Cannot understand some things and it is blurry to see where you are at or what it actually says so that I can still follow.... But, otherwise, thank you so much for all of your wonderfull information. Very helpful.
Goes to screen turn off phone number sharing....fill out job applications online and have to enter phone number over and over again.....turns phone sharing back on. 😊
So should I allow "ANDROID SYSTEM INTELLIGENCE" be able to access my call log ? Not sure ....But, again, thank you for all of your information.😌💁🏻♀️💗🙏🏻
If only Android settings were not so disjointed, hugely converluted and blasted all over what appears to be dozens of different pages/sections/apps... It's almost as if they make it as cumbersome to keep on top of as possible... 🤔
Question: I am wondering if the warning Ïf you deny permission, basic features of your device may no longer function as intended". Is that true? What happens if this occurs?
You just suggested to people to turn off the feature that asks you if you want to share your number if an app asks for it, by turning it off you will no longer get a warning and it will automatically share it. You've done the opposite of what you claim this video is meant to do. Either you don't understand how the feature on the phone works or you're being nefarious.

I kept getting messages left in VM about my loan. Two different companies called about loans I never took out. Another number called from a collection agency. I suspect they're using random phone numbers to dodge lenders. They asked to speak to someone I've never heard of.

That option says Google will show you a screen to choose, when the app asks for a number.
Not automatically share?
Same question. So disabling it means it would be automatically shared then or not.
Disabling forces you to type your number manually when necessary. Enabling allows you to share or not.
There's no automatic sharing.
