    I currently have a shock body at the plater getting it re plated. I took 2 pieces of 2*4 and a hole saw, drilled a hole so I had2 half circles I could use to clamp in a vice. Put the seal head in where I clamped it so I couldn't distort the tube. Mine is just cause it's junk Sachs with trash anodizing, so it's getting a better hard anodizing done.

    I just serviced my shock and will now loosen and retorque my lock ring.

    We have never really used a "Blue Wrench" I guess mostly because I have never been taught its use. How much danger is there getting parts too hot? We do use a hot plate, heat gun and the freezer. I can see how the touch could be handy.

      There is some danger but as long as you keep it moving and replace any rubber parts you’re fine. Also, since it’s just map gas and not a torch it would be really hard to go too far

    Thanks for the tip. I just replaced the spring on my 22. Will likely go check that before the next ride. Might just send it for the X-trig adjuster. Never really thought about that being overtight and causing issues. I couldn't get a hold of one before replaced my spring. or it'd be on there already! Not a suspension deal, but a suggestion. I noticed you have a park tool straightener. How about a video on straightening a bent sub frame with that. Got any bikes with bent sub frames? I'm curious on how you hold the bike when straightening. I don't have a table. I have one I need to straighten. I bought the tool a while back and have not put it to use yet. Was going to strap the front end and rear tire in the back of my truck to hold it.

      Yeah. That straightener is pretty good. I don’t have any bent subframes right now but if I get one in I’ll film it. I have to tie them down to the lift and usually get Angry Zach to help hold it too.

    What is the torque spec for the locking ring?

    Oh boy, I bet I over tightened mine😬. How much was the shock body?

      You can buy them from SDI (KTM doesn’t sell just the body and I think about 150

    If the old-style aluminum spanner nuts fit the shock body, couldn't you have installed 2 and lock them together and then use a spanner and an extension pipe on the spanner's handle to spin the body off? Reservoir is good after heating so much no o-ring in the connection to the body?

    • @highlandcycles
      @highlandcycles  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Unfortunately the old style nuts don’t fit but yeah that would work. And yeah, the oring on the reservoir is good. I’ve never had one fail after doing the body. They are super high temp since the shock gets so hot.

      @@highlandcycles got it, too bad the spanner rings won't fit.

      @@highlandcycles since body is junk may just bore a pair of holes across from each other put a bar through the pair of holes and twist off.

      @@200xcBruce that would work

      @@highlandcycles Im fixing to use the hole method, I broke my strap wrench!! Nice vid Morgan, dont think I was using enough heat.
      Got it off, FYI....KTM uses GREEN loctite, right up there with welding it together!
