I find it amazing that the tent has been positioned as it has. Surely it should face the creek, especially when sitting under the awning relaxing and watching the water rather than a grass field. Maybe Nathan also likes watching paint dry.
Took me a minute to realize this is indeed an RV5 and not a an RV3... you're just a giant! ; ) We love ours (have both an RV3 and RV5). Would not camp without them.
Great review guys. What an awesome camp spot! I've had my RV5 for about a year and love it! Got the same drifta bag and poles, so much easier to pack away. Haven't bothered getting a fly yet as I only go away for 1-2 nighters. The side panels are handy though I usually chuck one side up for a wind block
Awesome review guys , answered many questions about the tent . Many thanks , hope you both continue on with more video's, best luck and health for the future . Cheers and cold beers from Kalgoorlie Boulder western Australia.
The tent looks awesome and makes for an easy gate away weekend! And also, Nate is a giant when standing besides the lifted Hilux! 😂 Much love from Norway! ❤
I think the easy setup for that much overhead space is a good investment. The only thing that bothers me is the length for transportation but this trade off seems worthwhile.
Great Review, I'm looking at the same RV5 with the Fox Wing Awning off the Truck and Side walls for one large enclosure. With my 3 pups I need the RX-5 Deluxe.
Great review guys! We love our RV5 too. We have the drifta kit also. We really like the oztent mesh floor - reckon you would too . We have been on the fence about getting the side panels, sometimes they may be useful for privacy or a wind break, but can't seem to fully justify it. The fly is a bit of a pain, but will probably ensure the tent lasts a lifetime. Our rule at thumb is one night - no fly, and if two nights or more - we put up the fly. Also we use the zempire monstamats too. Keep up the great work. Subscribed. Cheers.
Thanks mate. We used the Zempire double but currently just using a Monstamatt mattress on the ground and it works really well. Stretcher will make a return for snow camps though. It’s good to be up off the ground.
Good review! My wife and I have had an Oz Tent RV 5 for about 14 years and swear by it, the only con as you say is its 2m long, otherwise easily the best touring tent around. We were looking closely at the Blackwolf Turbo 240 Tent, but might just buy another RV3 or RV4 to use in conjunction with our Hybrid Van. Love your Hilux setup also, what canopy is that?
Great review guys thanks. Just got an rv4 and looking forward to getting out and about.an you leave your bedding in the tent during the day, or does the condensation drip on it and make it damp? Or can you leave window open to let it evaporate?
Really nice video guys! Will likely be ordering one for my little family soon 🙂 Do you mind sharing where this campsite was? Looks beautiful! I’m keen for camping at Kosciusko over summer
Also, with the double stretcher would you realistically be able to run it front to back (as opposed to side to side like in the video) We need room for a porta cot also 🙂
Thanks mate we like to keep these spots quiet but flick me a message on Instagram 😉 As far as the stretcher goes you can run it front to back with your heads at the door. We did that the first time we used it and it was beautiful on a hot night with the front canvas open. Great view up into the stars too 👌
We sold it before purchasing the Bush Company we had. Honestly I'd go the RV for winter at least if you pack it up with condensation your bedding won't get wet. Plus you can leave it set up and go for a drive 👍
Next time you’re out, would you mind measuring up the space between the stretcher and the side wall ? We’re tryna figure out a setup that works with our border collie x mastiff pup’s soft crate. He’s a pretty big bloke so struggling a bit to find something suitable
It definitely makes a difference to condensation in cold climates although not a big one. I prefer to run it without the fly as it's a lot easier to set up
I think it just refers to the initial folding out and lifting up not the other 15 minutes of pegs, poles, and ropes. A little misleading but I think that's why they went away from the 30sec name
Yes definitely wouldn't want much more than an inch of snow on it. We have gone back to the swag for the latest winter camps. Hopefully picking up another rooftop tent soon.
I find it amazing that the tent has been positioned as it has. Surely it should face the creek, especially when sitting under the awning relaxing and watching the water rather than a grass field. Maybe Nathan also likes watching paint dry.
I'm still procrastinating...find it hard to part with cash but this is definitely the way to go!

Thanks mate! Yeh the side panels are handy when it's raining sideways haha
Excelent review.. thanks for taking the time 👍

Great video, very enjoyable to watch and learn from your experience.

Much love from Norway! ❤
Thanks mate I'm about the same height as the car around 2m 🤣
Great video you two. Always good to see other set ups. 🤙
Thanks for video
Looks good unless it's raining lol
Thinking about oz tent or rooftop and that helps make a decision
Great review! I ordered one last month! Can’t wait to try it out.
Nice job guys! We were tempted to get this tent but stuck with the swags still looks so good especially for summer camps
Yeh in the warmer weather it's great all opened up!
good review. Nothing better then a RV oztent.
Loved your video
Great video, thanks for all the helpful info as I'm considering this over a Blackwolf Turbo tent.

I want that Truck Cap. What a sweet rig.

Thanks mate. Have you used it in the rain with no fly? I love the quick setup without the fly and awning I'm just always worried about the weather 🤣
We have the rx 5 and expeds bloody love it 👍
Hi guys awesome video just wonder what location as I use to live near the vic high country but I’m not familiar with the spot
How are these in a strong wind with the flat sides?
Cheers for the no bs review mate, hey just curious what valley was that? Thought it was Buckland but the rivers too wide? Mitta mitta?
Good work!!!
Great video, just purchased the same tent. I am also tall & interested to know what stretcher you use?
Thanks mate. We used the Zempire double but currently just using a Monstamatt mattress on the ground and it works really well. Stretcher will make a return for snow camps though. It’s good to be up off the ground.
@@airdownaus thanks much appreciated
Hi Guya, Great video. Where was this filmed ?

Hi mate canopy is a custom alloy job by a shop in Sydney 👍
Great review guys thanks. Just got an rv4 and looking forward to getting out and about.an you leave your bedding in the tent during the day, or does the condensation drip on it and make it damp? Or can you leave window open to let it evaporate?

Do you still have your 23zero? We have a RV4 which we love but thinking of a 23zero for winter trip to Tassie, great video 😁
We sold it before purchasing the Bush Company we had. Honestly I'd go the RV for winter at least if you pack it up with condensation your bedding won't get wet. Plus you can leave it set up and go for a drive 👍
Loving that cot, what brand is it?
It's a Zempire double stretcher
How did it go in the snow , any issues ?
It was struggling under the weight a bit. I'd be worried in heavy snow. No leaks or anything though 👌
Next time you’re out, would you mind measuring up the space between the stretcher and the side wall ? We’re tryna figure out a setup that works with our border collie x mastiff pup’s soft crate. He’s a pretty big bloke so struggling a bit to find something suitable
Surely they can't call it a 30sec tent!!
I don't get what the fly does I've tried it with and without doesn't seem to make a difference personally i don't think its worth the fluffing around
It definitely makes a difference to condensation in cold climates although not a big one. I prefer to run it without the fly as it's a lot easier to set up
@@airdownaus yeah I've never seen much difference with it on
the fly doesn't cover enough of the tent
Surely that can't call it a 30 sec tent!
I've got one and it takes me 5 minutes to get it off the roof :)
I think it just refers to the initial folding out and lifting up not the other 15 minutes of pegs, poles, and ropes. A little misleading but I think that's why they went away from the 30sec name
Yeah slightly misleading. Most videos for the 30sec tent go for 5-10mins. I still use a swag But these get great reviews though.
Bad design for snow to many flat sides probably better to buy a Blackwolf turbo tent
Yes definitely wouldn't want much more than an inch of snow on it. We have gone back to the swag for the latest winter camps. Hopefully picking up another rooftop tent soon.
49 minutes lateeeeerrr
Damn you're tall
Makes it easy unloading the roof 👍🤣
LOL. Yet another vid that won't show the sides for the awning... I'll keep looking
Not really worth including them. They're pretty self explanatory and literally hundreds of pics online 🤷♂️
