Great collection of Turboprops from the new, like the ATR42-600 to the Shorts 360's - wow, that is an excellent sight. One of the first I flew on was United Express. Oh, and it was nice seeing Titan Airways in the background too.. based at my local airport :-)

When you watch and listen to a turboprop engine fire up, you can tell that it's indeed a jet engine with a propeller attached. Most of the public, who is not observant, is not aware of that fact. Most of the public is convinced that the turboprop engine is an old fashioned piston driven propeller engine, like those of the old Dougless DC-7.
I myself love turboprops, and I wish that the now popular Airbus A-320 was four engine a turboprop airliner, instead of a twin engine fan jet. Some say that driving a vehicle with a manual transmission is "Real Driving." I say that flying in a propeller aircraft is "Real Flying". Though a bit slower, turboprops are more fuel efficient than fan jets. I feel that a four engine turboprop equivilance of the A-320, are feasible for most domestic flights, like from Charlotte NC to New York LaGuardia. I think that fan jet airliners should only be used for cross country and overseas.
The ATR is the quietest prop plane I've ever flown on. I suspect that it's fuselage was better insulated than that of most of these aircraft. My girlfriend likes to call the ATR the "Whisperorop." The Short's 360, known as the "Flying Boxcar", was the noisiest, especially seated right between the props. I have also flown quite a bit on the Dash-8, which today seems to be the most popular turboprop airliner.

That Short is like a camping wagon with wings. I flew in one once and I remember the stewardess had to hold the back door during the entire (fortunately short) flight, because it wound't close properly :P Never felt safer xD

SKBenergy Insel air is expanding I see, just recently they started flying back to Trinidad and Tobago... and as you said, I hope they keep expanding in the eastern Caribbean because I have this urge to visit & explore dem amazing Islands as well :)
