I've just buyed a R4, that was stored outdoor for 13 years. When i was a student, I owned two of them, more as 35 years ago. Yesterday, as i took place at the drivers seat, ..... it was just like coming home again! I love it.

nofacemonster I almost died from a complete respiratory obstruction due to an asthma attack when I was 4 and my father took me to the hospital in his Renault 4 as fast as he could, when we arrived the car belts melted! I love the Renault 4.
I have a 1990 one with 250.000kms here in Colombia, also converted to 1400cc, I am working on it to bring it back on the streets, hopefully it will be with me when it gets to 500.000.

The road tax law in the Netherlands changed; Cars older than 25 years where considered as oldtimer and owners didn't have to pay road tax. This 25 year threshold is now stretched to 40 years, so the owner has to pay road tax now, so maybe he stored the car until its 40th birthday.. Note; This car runs on LPG, so road tax is about 2.5 times higher compared to a car running on normal petrol (in NL)

Gebruik altijd nieuwe onderdelen, dus zowel drukgroep, druklager als frictieplaat gelijk vervangen. Zelf haal ik motor met bak er in zijn geheel uit. Dat werkt makkelijker als alleen de bak verwijderen en scheelt nauwelijks in tijd. Bovendien kun je dan alle bouten en moeren nog eens controleren en natrekken. Succes ermee.
I suggest you guys who want it to live and not rot away, start donating to the owner for repairs. And then for every trivial thing to be fixed that stops it, until it literally falls apart and we know what the max mileage of these cars is. if you cure what can be cured.. (until it hangs together with ducttape)

The car still lives, but last APK (MOT) expiry date was in 2015.. Guess it is parked and awaits better times.

Nee, deze komt uit een R5 TX. De oorspronkelijke 1.1 is al vrij snel vervangen door een 1.4. Dit is de tweede 1.4 met inmiddels 240.000 km.

60 hp out of a 1.4l motor sounds total normal for a 80s Renault. My R9 hat the same engine.

Dat klopt, voor een betere koeling van de 1.4 is er een radiateur uit een Renault 5 Alpine ingezet. En die heeft dubbele ventilatoren.

Nee, de aandrijving leeft voort in een andere R4, net als de meeste andere onderdelen. Koets en chassis staan er nog wel.

The 4l is a very durable car, a friend of mine has one almost as old as this one and it doesn't has a single problem.
