Tony, this song is also a reference to "Canção do Exílio" (Exile song) written by Brazilian Romantic poet Gonçalves Dias. The poem is always a example of the first phase of Brazilian Romanticism, that was marked by a heavy nationalism. Amazing rendition! Thank you for sharing!
I linked to Troubleclef 4 years ago searching for a Beatles tune and have been hooked ever since.. He has introduced me to so many different music genres that I never knew i would like.. He never ceases to amaze me. thanks a million Tony
Fantàstico amigo ! impressionante de beleza... me lembra uma versão do mestre Juarez Moreira no disco ''Solo'' dele onde ele toca instrumentais no violão clàssico Você fez sua versão maravilhosa com harmonia perfeita ... Este tema é uma joia rara
I’m a long time fan of troubleclef !!! Great performance of Sabia, , , , I’m an even longer fan of Jobim and Chico, , , I’m inspired that there are special artists like Tony who recognize amazing composition, , , Fantastic!!! : )
Hi, troubleclef, It's amazing how you spent your time making a search about the Sabiá, this bird is very commom in Brazil, and I missed my childhood when I used saw a bunch them near in my house, you cover is so beauty, you should come to Brazil and play your guitar to us here :-)
Brilliant playing,Tony. You've got such an extraordinary range of taste from latin to folk to show tunes to progressive and more still ! I guess that's one of the reasons you've got so many subs....that and the obvious talent, of course. Thanks as always, Jim
Beautiful interpretation, my friend!! Those were golden years, with many great composers from here, Brazil. Today, I can't say the same. Congratulations!!!
favorited! this is just amazing. your expression of the music is perfect. fantastic arrangement. i think you should write this one down if you find the time :)
@fhfabio thanks, Fabio is it female because he says "UMA sabiá"? I would have thought that just means the *word* sabiá is feminine (whether one is speaking of a male or a female). Or is there something else in the lyric that gives it away? This kind of thing always confuses the hell out of me in Portuguese. :D
Indeed, wow, starting off with that delightful G13 chord really catches attention right away. I don't know this composition from the Jobim oeuvre, high quality composing here full of warmth and romance which I hear in his other work too,the Brazilian style is so rich in harmony and melody and this is a great Proof of this genre which will be around for generations to come. Unfortunately this can not be said about Lady Gaga, here today gone tomorrow,Vic.
@Jazzguts thanks, Vic. Several versions start with a melodious bird-like flute bit. The intro chord i play here sounds like a squawking blackbird! ...on purpose. :D I kinda like that! Though I based most of the arrangement on the amazing recording by Clara Nunes, the intro of her version is a tad sugary, so i went with this. cheers, man
I like this composition so much, and i loved your arrangement, really loved it, i think i have listened it 100 of times since you have uploaded it. The thing i noticed, you right hand position has been so much relaxing, for comparison (A Felicidade (Antonio Carlos Jobim) ) and this performance. the way you captured this video, its very helpful for people like me to get the notes out it :) . Please keep it up! A person like you is inspiration to me! Lots of Well wishes!
@AndanteLargo thanks, buddy. well as an interested estrangeiro my interpretations are bound to sound unlike those of musicians within the tradition. I can only hope they sound nearly as good. so I appreciate the support.
@6672rock Not sure what I did differently but, yeah, they are sounding better. i'm usually tweaking this and that. hard to tell what actually works and what doesn't. thanks. cheers.

The harmonics were played brilliantly. Great piece altogether, thank you for playing so much Jobim!
Each and every one of your arrangements is so special, they truly deserve to be transcribed and published as "legitimate" solo guitar repertoire.
