@Frankmuas no, it's called a series hybrid. It's the same operation as Honda's new accord (in low speed) and BMW's i3 (I think) and Edison's Motor's hybrid-electric-diesel truck. The engine can be run at constant speed, at it's most efficient rev as all it does is spin a generator. A small engine can be used as it doesn't need to be big enough to move the car on its own, and no gearbox is needed. It's actually a genius solution for such a large car.
It’s really weird because DJI drones have been mainstream in the West for over 10 years now so people should understand very well that NOT ALL companies in China make garbage products. It’s a really ignorant mindset.
For me it’s more about the idea of a hybrid electric is coming into market instead of the full electric systems. not sure if i’d call it a revolution, many parts of the U.S. still lack the infrastructure to support a battery only vehicle platform which makes travel difficult. and travel being the one thing a vehicle should do well, it can be a difficult sell. the implementation here is pretty nice though, a gas generator built in to power a battery, but you’re still ultimately relying on the battery and once the battery fails, no part of that generator is going to help.
@BMCKINN7 Yeah, it's not uncommon for a hybrid to have that kind of range. My subaru has a 400-mile range. A prius (car) has a 600-mile range, and the Honda cr- v (suv) hybrid gets 595 miles. Using a common feature as a selling point is so ad agency scummy. You might as well say it's toasted.

Frankly I think a diesel generator would be more effective at charging up the barriers because it’s more efficient and can do more work at the same RPM but this is also excellent
never heard anyone say to charge an EV with a Diesel generator… do you even understand the purpose of EV’s? I kinda doubt it… And I think you don’t understand anything about this topic as a whole.
More than 3000 EV fire incidents happen in China every year and lot of them are BYD 😂
@@L1qu1d_5h4d0w why so condescending? it's perfectly reasonable to have one if you're in the middle of nowhere (think, like carrying jerry cans on a long trip) but i wouldn't say it's practical to build it into the vehicle
@@Aviator7477 Do you think that American EVs don't catch on fire? They do. American ICEs also catch on fire. There are 174,000-220,000 highway vehicle fires per year in the US. 30-40% of these do not have to do with collisions and are "failure of equipment or heat source".
Cars are large metal boxes filled with flammable substances on top of a huge tank filled with flammable liquid and run on small explosions of said flammable liquid. They catch on fire sometimes. EV or ICE, it happens, it's a risk.
you understand this company is famous for killing people with its cars

Yeah, BYD is awful. These tik-tok brained no attention span having Lyft drivers are seriously delusional.
This thing is still a very cool showcase of technology.
Still, it's clearly made for Upper Class citizens, not the average joe
@@KevinLubanskithere's also news about the quality of the materials underneath being garbage and thin, especially that tank-style rotation a nightmare to repair.
That drone thing is straight outta gtav
This car is like if someone took a road trip and wrote down things they would change on their car while on the trip. Like nothing cohesive just a bunch of random tiny improvements that don't rlly change anything
Adding a floating feature to your car makes me feel like the ceo has had some trauma.. thats the most random thing 😂
That billionaire that drowned in her Tesla gave BYD some ideas 💯
@MCTogs That happened?
@@MrComp-bw2rbyeah lol
Gonna need that floating feature since half of major Chinese cities are sinking in water thanks to their amazing infrastructure
Maybe the thousands of people who died in the zhengzhou tunnel flood of 2023 thanks to China shitty tofu dreg infrastructure might’ve had something to do with it
Having a generator inside the car itself to charge it using gas is irony at it's best.
It's called fuel agnosticism.
makes a lot of sense. That's how freight trains and a lot of ships work. Its more efficient than having an ICE motor and transmission power the wheels directly.
Better than plug in hybrid imo
@Frankmuas no, it's called a series hybrid. It's the same operation as Honda's new accord (in low speed) and BMW's i3 (I think) and Edison's Motor's hybrid-electric-diesel truck. The engine can be run at constant speed, at it's most efficient rev as all it does is spin a generator. A small engine can be used as it doesn't need to be big enough to move the car on its own, and no gearbox is needed. It's actually a genius solution for such a large car.
99% of the cars use gas to charge their batteries and move around.
Lucky if they acknowledge the warranty.
Nah this is cooler than a batmobil
This car so advanced it looks like it's about to create allinol😂
underrated comment 😂
Looks like if faked the electric conversion
It deploys its own drone? And drive in water? Even the military was shocked!

Wow no lie this has everything they literally thought of everything 😅but the price will show all of this
The double sun visors feature is fairly nice
BYD is making innovation and people still hesitate to admit that, because of it's Chinese origin. Glad you shed some light on the product
If you’re not familiar with Edison Motors I will highly encourage you to look into their goals and aspirations. One of them being Right to Repair with all parts being able to be ordered by the owner of the vehicle/kit. That also includes instructions and schematics.
ITS NOT AVAILABLE IN THE US
so who cares
@@alvaromartinez8563
1) ITS NOT A GODDAMN HYBRID
Gas has NO FUNCTION for the drivetrain, only the generator to recharge
2) not available in the us

Double full sized sun shades is the most impressive feature I’ve seen.

Saab did that in 99

Pretty heavy mean it has expensive magnets or li ion batteries.
But somehow just pretty heavy is now good enough, when is why beats adds steel to thier headphones

Would love to see an honest 3 year ownership review on these things
BYD IS SO CONFIDENT IN THE PRODUCT THEY GIVE IT A 10 YEAR WARRANTY.
I need one of those for the zombie apocalypse.
I’m going to go right out and get one. I’m sure being a lower middle class fella I can afford one no problem.
So glad we can all get in on this battery revolution.
not sure if i’d call it a revolution, many parts of the U.S. still lack the infrastructure to support a battery only vehicle platform which makes travel difficult. and travel being the one thing a vehicle should do well, it can be a difficult sell. the implementation here is pretty nice though, a gas generator built in to power a battery, but you’re still ultimately relying on the battery and once the battery fails, no part of that generator is going to help.
Then they should move out of those shitty areas
600 miles on a full tank is actually insane..
I get 600 miles a tank in my Corolla

@BMCKINN7 Yeah, it's not uncommon for a hybrid to have that kind of range. My subaru has a 400-mile range. A prius (car) has a 600-mile range, and the Honda cr- v (suv) hybrid gets 595 miles. Using a common feature as a selling point is so ad agency scummy. You might as well say it's toasted.

Yeah never understood that like how is it so hard to put a high refresh rate touch screen with a decent chip inside.
Main reason is most car manufacturers want to design their own infotainment devices and software and refuse to use tablets supplied by well developed electronics manufacturers.
